Are There Bugs In Your Belly?

You’ve probably heard horror stories of 3 foot tapeworms that cause serious problems for some people, but did you know that most parasites are very tiny and some can only be seen by microscope?

Did you know that there is actually a very good chance that you could have a yeast or parasite infestation?

The human body is literally crawling with hundreds of strains of yeasts and bacteria. The digestive track alone holds more than three pounds of bacteria. In the right balance, these bacteria are necessary for proper digestion and nutrient absorption. Probiotics, the beneficial bacteria in the gut, are a form of bacteria, though they have a tremendous positive impact on our health.

When these beneficial bacteria in the digestive track get out of balance, problems begin. A large number of factors can facilitate the disruption of this balance of bacteria, including diet, certain medications, stress, contact with infected sources and others.

The body is also host to yeast, which is naturally occurring and not specifically dangerous in proper amounts. Yeast overgrowth, on the other hand, which is rampant in today’s world, can have a tremendous negative impact on overall health and fertility. Many people are (unfortunately) familiar with vaginal yeast infections, but these infections are often symptomatic of a much larger body-wide infection.

The most disturbing invaders to our bodies, in my opinion, are parasites, though sadly, most people carry these guys around too. Studies have found that most people, especially those with chronic diseases and cancer, are host to at least one kind or parasite.

Parasites can range from tiny organisms, visible only by microscope to long tapeworms (several feet long).  They can enter the body through food, drink, contact with animals or infected person, or even just skin contact, and parasite infections can last for years.

How Do We Get Yeast and Parasites?

Yeast and parasites can enter the body a variety of ways, depending on the type. Candida Albicanis, the most common and difficult to remove type of yeast, occurs naturally in the body in small amounts.

When a person eats lots of glucose and fructose (remember the body turns all sugars, starches, grains, and even fruit into glucose for digestion), it feeds the normally occurring yeasts and parasites and allows them to multiply abundantly. Some pharmaceuticals, and especially hormonal birth control and antibiotics, can deplete the digestive track of the beneficial bacteria needed to keep yeast and parasites in check, and lead to an overgrowth or infestation.

Yeast especially, can multiply rapidly in the presence of any high carbon substances like sugar. Yeasts are also able to convert sugar into alcohol in the body, just as it does in the beer and wine fermentation process. This is one reason that people with severe yeast overgrowth experience symptoms like brain fog, lightheadedness, and nausea.

Treating yeasts, parasites, and other fungi in the body is a three step process. First, the invaders themselves must be killed, then they (and the toxins they created) must be flushed from the body, and finally, the body must be supported in healing and regenerating itself.

How to Tell If You Have Yeast or Parasites

There are many symptoms directly or indirectly associated with yeast and parasite overgrowth. If you have several of these symptoms, there is a really good chance that you have an infestation or overgrowth.

Symptoms of Yeast and Parasite Overgrowth:

  • Lowered immune system and constant illness
  • Rectal itching, especially at night
  • More than one vaginal yeast infection
  • Sores on the mouth or lips or white spots inside mouth
  • Constant tiredness
  • Difficulty sleeping and waking up
  • Toe fungus or athletes foot
  • Bloating and gas
  • Allergies
  • Sensitivity to food or chemicals
  • Sensitivity to the smell of strong perfumes or cigarette smoke
  • Rashes or itching around genitals in men or women
  • Recurrent bladder infections
  • Food cravings, especially for sweet or starchy foods

  • Muscle or joint aches
  • Constipation or diarrhea
  • Previous or current cigarette smoking
  • Use of fluoride or consumption of fluoridated water

Natural Remedies for Yeast and Parasite Infestation

The good news is that there are some natural treatments that are effective at helping the body kill and remove yeast and parasites. If you suspect that you have an overgrowth, you might consider some of the treatments below:

Dietary Adjustments- If you do have yeast or parasites, any sugars at all can feed an infestation and make removal very uncomfortable. If you are embarking on a natural treatment for Candida, fungi or parasites, remove all sources of natural sugar from you diet, including sources like honey and fruits. Some Stevia is ok once in a while, but avoid anything that gives the body a sugar source and feeds yeast or parasites. Consider also avoiding dairy for 1-2 weeks to give you body a boost.

Sweat- As your body kills off parasites and yeast, their by products must be removed from the body, along with the toxins that they might have bound to. Some of these are best removed through the sweat glands, so let your body sweat by exercising, taking cayenne supplements and getting in hot tubs or saunas during the healing process.

Diatomaceous Earth- This is a naturally occurring substance that has amazing ability to kill parasites, yeast and parasite eggs. It is naturally high in silica, which is necessary for hair, nail and skin growth, and has other trace minerals as well. It can also help restore body tissue and improve digestion. If you decide to take this supplementally, start with 1 tsp per day in 8 ounces of water and work up to 1-2 TBSP a day until yeast symptoms disappear. Read info below on Herxheimers reaction! Also, make sure to use food grade Diatomaceous earth! More info here.

Apple Cider Vinegar- Another easy and effective remedy for Candida and parasites. Apple Cider Vinegar is high in B-vitamins and very nourishing to the body. It help the body’s pH neutralize and improves digestion. It is well known for killing yeast and improving skin condition. Some people are leery of vinegar, as a fermented product, when they have a yeast infection. While some fermented products like beer and wine can feed yeast, Apple Cider Vinegar undergoes a much different fermentation process and produces a completely different reaction in the body. It tastes awful, but after taking it for a while, you will become more tolerant of the taste, and your body will start to crave it. Start with 1 tsp up to 3 times a day about 30 minutes before each meal (some people can’t handle it before breakfast!). If you handle this well, this dosage can be increased to a tablespoon.

Probiotics- Probiotics restore the helpful gut bacteria that is wiped out by yeast or parasites (or antibiotic or oral contraceptive use). Probiotics are necessary to restore proper intestinal flora, even after yeast and parasites have been removed. A high quality probiotic supplement should be included, taken according to product instruction. Do not take probiotics within an hour of Apple Cider Vinegar or Diatomaceous Earth! You might also consider drinks like Kombucha and Water Kefir to help build up probiotic levels, or whole plain full-fat yogurt.

Cinnamon- Cinnamon is a natural remedy for parasites and fungus. Take ½ tsp of a high quality cinnamon powder in water up to three times a day.

Vitamin C- Besides being an excellent antioxidant and immune support, Vitamin C is helpful in yeast/parasite removal. If you have symptoms of yeast and parasites, take 5,000 mg (5 grams) per day spread out in 2-3 doses. Do not take vitamin C at the same time as calcium/magnesium as they will neutralize each other. High consumption of Vitamin C may cause loose bowel movements, especially when yeast and parasites are being removed. This is not necessarily worrisome, but if it bothers you, adjust the dose down until symptoms go away.

Coconut Oil- Coconut Oil is naturally anti fungal and very nourishing to the body. Hopefully, you are using it in your cooking by now, but consider taking several tablespoons a day additional as an antifungal support. This will also help support the hormones and reproductive system. To make it easier to take, dissolve a couple tablespoons in a hot tea of choice and drink. The first couple sips will be coconut oil, and then you will just taste the tea.

Garlic- To help remove yeast and parasites, finely mince 1-2 cloves and drink in a cup of water before meals.

Olive Oil- Also an antifungal that supports removal of parasite and yeast waste. Add 1-2 TBSP or more to salads or veggies, or take supplementally.

Other Herbs known to help with yeast and parasites: Oregano Oil, Thyme, Peppermint, Rosemary, Olive Leaf Extract and Grapefruit Seed Extract.  If you have a severe case of yeast or parasites, consider using on of these potent herbs, but do your research first!

Herxheimer’s Reaction

I mentioned above that removal of yeast and parasites can be uncomfortable at times. This reaction, named after the German dermatologist who discovered it, is basically the discomfort caused by the die off of yeast and parasites and the body’s attempt to remove them. The faster you attempt to treat symptoms and the more potent remedies you take, the higher your chance of experiencing this reaction.

It is best to be on an anti yeast/parasite diet for several weeks before starting supplements to help minimize this reaction.  Starting with small doses of Apple Cider Vinegar and Diatomaceous Earth and then working up will also help keep die off symptoms at bay.

You may even find that you “catch a cold” a week or so after starting to treat your yeast and parasite symptoms. This is actually a mild Herxheimer reaction, and backing down supplements and drinking more water should help it pass quickly.

Other Important Notes

Removing yeast and parasites is a difficult job for your body. During this process, it is highly important that you support your body as much as possible with regular exercise, good diet, adequate sleep and limiting exposure to toxins.

Soaking in an Epsom salt bath (1/2 cup Epsom salts in hot bath water) will also help remove toxins through the skin. Drinking enough water will help flush die off toxins out faster, and adequate sleep will give the body enough time to regenerate.

During this time, it is also vitally important that you do not consume sugar or carbs, as this will make the process much slower and much more uncomfortable. Consuming enough raw vegetables during this time will also help keep your energy levels up and clean the body faster. If you can stomach it, this is a veggie smoothie I drink daily.

    Hi Mama,

thanks for all that. i just spent the past 5 months on anti-parasitic antibiotics for 3 parasites and 5 families of parasites. i am seeing an MD/Holisitic doc, and going ala natural was not possible for the critters inside of me.  the Herx reaction(s) i am having are quite severe, but i know it’s a healing process and Nothing, and i mean Nothing can compare to the actual antibiotic ritual.
    thank you………

I just recently removed grains from my diet, and this last week I got a cold . . . I thought the two weren’t related until I re-read this article. I’m going to try some of these more direct remedies to finish killing off whatever remains. Thanks so much for all the terrific info!

I just realized that I probably picked the worst time of year to cleanse my body.  I just started taking Diatomaceous Earth 4 days ago and today when I woke up, I felt queasy, gassy, bloated, like my stomach was churning, had diarrhea, and have chills.  I hope it will ease up if I start drinking some fresh vegetable/fruit juice…?  Thank you so much for your posts.

I have loads of the symptoms that you talk about above, and started with Diatomaceous Earth a week ago. I am experiencing a rash on my chest, and itchiness everywhere, pluss some pleurisy pain. But at the same time I have noticed that I am not as exhausted after work and my nails are getting stronger.

  • http://wellnessmama.com Wellness Mama

It might help to back off the dose and start with a smaller one. Those sound like detox effects, which are good, because it means your body is removing toxins, it just might be too much at once!

First I would like to say THANK YOU for  all the valuable information that I have received through your website. You have helped me tremendously in getting my health back and I enjoy your blog dearly and have shared this with many others! I’ve just become aware in September that I am Gluten Intolerant and have a number of food and environmental allergies and have also encountered parasites that  I have been being treated for. I am still struggling to get rid of them. I am totally Gluten free and following a Paleo diet. I am also religiously following your steps to ridding the body of parasites ie: Garlic, Vinegar, Dietomacious Earth as well as taking Gelatin to help aid with hair and nails after reading your post on Gelatin. I have no added sugars to my diet. I was wondering if there are any fruits and vegetables best to avoid Should I steer clear of fruits and higher sugared vegetables like sweet potatoes? And with Kombucha, is it best to make your own or is it safe to buy from the store? I saw that there is an Organic Raw Kombucha by Synergy but am worried about the type of sugar that is in this? Any suggestions?

Thank you so much for all of your help and wealth of information!

Can you tell me does drinking Green Tea help with/beneficial to trying to get through the “die off/herx” process.  I thought I heard somewhere that green tea competes or cancels out some anti-parasitic or anti-yeast etc. treatments……such as Green Black Walnut Wormwood….(Maybe because green tea as an antioxidant thinks the treatments are bad guys and so the green tea attaches to treatments and then washes them out of the sytem instead of leaving them in to do good work.)  OR is green tea truly beneficial in the process of trying to get rid of parasites and candida/yeast in that it doesn’t disrupt the treatments but then does help to get rid of the toxins out of the body…please help with this…I am wanting an EDUCATED answer versus someone answering without real-life experience.  Please feel free to say if you don’t have experience with this.  By the way, I very much enjoyed your articule.  Thank you.

  • Robbinofmt

I just posted a comment regarding green tea, but want you to know that I have being dealing with Scabies parasite since mid-September 2012.  I thought that I had gotten rid of the scabies parasite a couple times…only  for them to return.  I got them after moving in to a different apartment or from buying a mattress that I now understand may not have been new.  Anyhow….been going through a very difficult time with itchy terrible nights and haven’t been able to work…trying all different types of treatments….not having the money for good food or even basic needs.  I’m now trying TriMedica Pure MSM liquid (sulfur) and Biosil Silicon (as Choline-Stabilized Orthosilicic Acid with Choline).  In the past, have also tried:  Green Black Walnut Wormwood Complex (with Clove), Ivermectin (Stromectol 12mg), Epsom Salt Baths, Hydrogen Peroxide and Borox baths, Clove Oil (tried based on outbreak study done by Australian Government).  I have to say the Stromectol Ivermectin has worked the best with clove oil put on skin when needed.  But, the Stromectol can’t be taken regularly as it is hard on the liver.  It really works for a few days and then the parasite/mite is back – probably because the eggs (that aren’t killed) then hatch and breed and mate and the circle of infection continues.  Please help.  So tired of spending money that is so hard to come by right now and then the treatments either don’t work or only work for a short time.  Should also say the Walnut/Wormwood complex also seemed to work somewhat, but I haven’t been able to afford it again.  Again, I need to know what will stop this…..Does the DE work?  How is this DE (?silica) related or different from Sulfur as MSM and Silicon (not Silicone).  Please educated advice would be so much appreciate.  I am at my witts end.  Thank you.

This is some really helpful information! I went on vacation to the Dominican and got very sick on my last night, My doc had given me some antibiotics before I went in case I got travellers diahrrea and told me to just take two, which worked. 2 weeks later I’ve suddenly had chronic diahrrea, dizziness, extreme nausea, loss of appetite and fatigue. I thought it was just the stomach flu at first but its been over a week. I’ve been to my doctor and done blood and stool tests and waiting on the results, but I do feel like I’ve got parasites. I’ve also lost about 4lbs and I’m already pretty scrawny so this is bad news for me. I will wait on my results and doctors advice before I try any of this though.

So I am new to your site. I have been dealing with thrush with myself and my 7 month old daughter on and off since she was one month old. It seem like we just about kick it and then it rears its ugly head again. Should I follow these guidelines? I am still nursing as well. I feel the reason why we got it is because of stress and also I went from not wanting any sugar during pregnancy to not be able to eat enough cookies after, I completely bombarded my body with sugar. It was really  bad. I have been taking a garlic supplement, a probiotic, and using grape fruit seed extract and eating coconut oil. Thanks for the info

I take the Bragg’s apple cider vinegar and coconut oil.  CandiGone from the health food store and just started adding CandElim from that guys site that I posted above. We will see what it does. I drink tons of water so, so far no die off symptoms that I can’t live with. My candida may not be as bad as I thought it was and I am hoping for that.

I know I have parasites. How can I kill them and flush them out? The items above, are they for healing? I started a yeast free diet and plan to take cinnamon and acv. Is that enough to kill and flush them?

  • http://wellnessmama.com Wellness Mama

It will really depend on your individual case but the things above shouldn’t hurt.

  • Alexis

Hi … Through trial and error I discovered the solutions you list on your site here to combat the numerous types of parasites I had. A couple of comments: Elephant garlic is not really garlic and will not be effective. Really good garlic is hard to find all year round so the DE in water is the other wonderful solution you can depend upon. I wish I had found this site when I first discovered the critters. It would have saved me a lot of tears and trouble.

  • Alexis

Be careful. Grape fruit seed extract is not usually recommended for long term use. Also, my infant had chronic thrush which did not respond to treatment – she had immune globulin A deficiency. I had to chew her food for her so my saliva would kill the thrush. Her condition did shortly resolve itself. For you, merely eliminating all sugar and complex carbs might cure it.

  • Alexis

I will reply that I found that Green Tea had no effect one way or the other. The very good protocol outlined here seems to be for internal parasites. If it scabies you are battling you might have to see a doctor and be sure to really upgrade your cleanliness. I also had a horrible reoccurring bug parasite problem which I found to be from the barn swallows nesting under our eves! Removing the nests and spraying the perimeter of the house and sweeping often with a vacuum solved that problem – but you live a nightmare trying to identify the problem and then searching and finding a solution. Good luck!!

  • Debra

Thanks for the info! Do you know if I can take a diflucan and antibiotics to treat a bacterial infection at the same time? Just want to make sure they don’t make each other less effective…

Wow I am very intrigued by your knowledge. I am a 31 yr old male. I was born with a hole in my heart and have had a pacemaker since I was 13. I’ve been pretty healthy considering until the last 2-3 yrs. I had a heart attack in 2009 and recently had shingles in late 2011. I also am losing massive amounts of protein in my urine and was treated with prednisone which literally screwed my entire body up in ways I never thought possible. I’ve also been treated with antibiotics several times through my life due to illness and such. I seem to have 80% of all the symptoms related to yeast/fungus and am pretty much willing to do anything. I generally eat healthy and try to limit processed foods and drink a raw smoothy every day sometimes more. So I guess what I’m wondering is what is the best direction to go from here. I dont like most doctors and prefer the holistic approach to things better!

Is DE safe to take while nursing

  • http://wellnessmama.com Wellness Mama

I take it while nursing, but I started slowly with a small dose and worked up to make sure there wasn’t a die off reaction.

I just started taking DE 2 weeks ago and after 3 days I started what I thought was a 2 week early period which never happens to me. I’ve been bleeding ever since. Could this be a detox effect if I possibly had fibroids or cysts? I wanted to wait for the bleeding to stop before going to the doctor because I refuse to take birth control as a solution. It does more harm than good. Have you ever had a case where this has happened? On a positive note, the earth has really helped ease my Crohn’s Disease symptoms! :D

  • Jessica

How do any of these parasite removal techniques work while nursing?

  • http://wellnessmama.com Wellness Mama

I haven’t heard of this. There is a possibility for a detox reaction, but I’d definitely check with a doctor. I’m with you though on refusing the birth control!

  • http://wellnessmama.com Wellness Mama

I take diatomaceous earth while nursing, but I started with really small doses and worked up. I also sometimes take bentonite clay. Most of the others are too strong while pregnant or nursing and you don’t want to detox quickly or the toxins can be passed through your milk.

I know I have parasites. How can I kill them i have suffered with parasites for many years now i have been to the doctors many times about the problem they just give me vermox tablets they help for a bit and the pain goes away but then they come back again i have try many herbs parasites cleanse and zappers nothing as worked for me could you recommend a diet with no sugar or starchy/high carb diet i hope that will help i think why i cant get rid of them its my diet its the problem i just keep feeding the parasites . :( thank you for your time

Have you ever tried a naturopathic doctor? If you’ve never heard of one it’s okay…i hadn’t either…you should google the definition and then find one in your area. A Naturopath just helped me rid my body of what you described above. Start with a strict candida diet and you can beat it! good luck

Don’t stop eating sugar. Definitely see your doctor before it worsens; ask to have your stool examined. Make sure to tell your doctor all of your symptoms. Possibly take some of the treatments in small amounts if it makes you feel better, but dont overdo it

  • tunie

This also indicates a possible protein deficiency – people tend to crave sugar when they need protein.

  • albertg

hello, so I took diatomaceous earth over the course of 3 days. I took a teaspoon the first day then I took a larger amount the next two days but not quite a full tablespoon. Well I can’t tell you how sick I became. I got cramps that were so painful I was doubled up from them and diarrhea that was like water every 20 min to a half hour for four days straight. I also had chills and headache. It was like having food poisoning but instead of it just lasting 24 hours it just went on and on. So, I stopped taking it Thursday, the day the cramping started and then was sick that day then Fri, Sat, Sun and now on Monday it seem to have calmed down a bit but I still feel like I have a bad flu and had to call off work. What does all this mean? I am confused as to how to proceed. Was this reaction an allergic one? Or is it do to how much waste was in my intestine and I should continue the use? I am also wondering, if it is due to the amount of parasites present and I stop now will that strengthen them? Has anyone had such a strong adverse reaction to DE? What should I do?

  • http://wellnessmama.com Wellness Mama

It can cause a pretty severe die off reaction like that. Was the brand you used definitely food grade, not pool grade? I would assume so, just wanted to check since that could make you really ill. My guess is that you just worked up too quickly… some people need to take 1/2 teaspoon or less and work up very slowly, only adding in another 1/2 teaspoon or so every few weeks. If you had that severe of a reaction, it means your body isn’t able to process everything it is eleminating, so I’d definitely rest for a while and then reintroduce veeeerrrry slowly if it were me. Good luck and hope you feel better soon…

  • albertg

thank you for your answer. yes, i double checked once i started getting sick and it is food grade. i’ll do as you suggest here and wait til I feel better and then start very very small and slowly.

Lol: Cigarette smoking, drinking fluoridated water and eating sugar or carbohydrates are symptoms of having a parasite? Nope.

  • http://www.facebook.com/dorothy.harpleygarcia Dorothy Harpley Garcia

I used to work for a homeopath in Utah who specialized in parasite extraction. He used herbs from an amish run company out in Killbuck, Ohio who make the most awesome remedies for parasites and yeast. Their herbs can get you parasite free in 3 – 6 days (kills the eggs too), depending on the species. My boss helped me overcome severe endometriosis without hormones nor surgery. Infact, after working with him and using the amish products I was able to have kids. One tip tho, when people had tapeworms and roundworms we would give them shots of ozonated olive oil. The ozone in the oil would kill off the adult roudworms/tapeworms almost immediately.

Hello there finding this website is an answer to prayer for me, i have been suffering from horrible painful stomach bloating and gas and joint pain along with many of the other symtoms of having yeast and parasites and would like to get started asap on recovery. The natual remedies you have mentioned are so numerous im not sure where to start. How many of these remedies should i do at once and do you suggest taking the Diatomaceous Earth and the Apple Cider Vinegor at the same time? Is there anyway that you could recommend a way i could do this that feels more structured. I’m a single mom of two girls who need a healthy, pain free mom and your help is so greatly appreciated!

Personally, I’d start with the apple cider vinegar a couple of times a day and then go from there, since that was what I’ve seen the most symptom relief from…

    Hi Teresa,

I suffered from bloating/gas for 5 years and saw every kind of doctor,
including acupuncture, massage, GI doc, etc. Stool tests, blood tests, etc. My
joints ached (left shoulder, hips and tail bone). I had two colonoscopies and
the 2nd one diagnosed ulcerative colitis, which apparently has “no known
cause and no known cure” according to the GI doc. B.S. I had to take things
into my own hands. First I started a no sugar, no gluten, no dairy diet. That
helped my symptoms about 50% (no more blood in stool, but still mucus). I
thought I might have Candida. I also took Aloe Vera juice, Vit D and probiotics
(very important). Then I started a series of liver flushes with colonics. Read
“The Amazing Gallbladder and Liver Flush” by Andres Moritz. After I
completed my 3rd liver flush, I noticed I passed some liver flukes and some
other unidentifiable parasites. Totally gross, but I finally figured out why I
has the ulcerative colitis. I also saw a NAET practioner and she had done some
muscle testing for parasites. Evidently I have/had liver flukes, intestinal
flukes, pork tapeworm and lung flukes. She “cleared” me for these and
the next day I passed some more (big) nasty stuff. I also just started taking
the diatomaceous earth, so we will see if that helps. I am nursing a baby so I
cannot take the strong herbs to kill the parasites, but we will see if the DE
works and keep doing the liver flushes. The author of the liver flush book
believes that if you keep your liver & colon clean, the body will slowly
take care of the parasites. if your body is in balance. I bet 100% you have
some parasites. It is no use going to a medical doctor because they think you
can only get them if you have traveled abroad and they would only prescribe
some really strong anti-parasitics that don’t kill the eggs, but kill your
liver. Parasites are so prevalent in the USA and most people have them… I
think most IBS is parasite related. In any case, you sound like me so I just
    wanted to share my story.

You should not detox while pregnant, but what about while nursing?

  • http://wellnessmama.com Wellness Mama

Nursing isn’t preferable either as toxins can transfer through the milk, but in some cases it can be better to detox than to keep passing on whatever the issue is, but I’d definitely work with a health practitioner of some kind on it…

Dorothy — how much ozonated olive oil did you give people with tapeworms? Did they do the protocol for the Amish dewormer at the same time? — And also, where did you get the ozonated oil oil? Did the doc make it themselves? If so, do you know which ozonator they used? — A lot of questions. I know! — But any help is appreciated :-)

Hi there, I just recently found your blog and it is quite the resource for me! I’m so thankful. I’m so glad you have shared so much on this parasite issue. My son(3) and daughter(5) each had pinworms twice. Due to my ignorance(and the severity of my daughters infection) we treated both times with prescribed drugs. (second time around I did some dietary changes but not for an extended time) My husband and I did the medicine the first time around too.We have since done our own at home “flashlight tests” to check on both of them over the last 6 months and they have not had them again. My concern is for my son, who seems to have developed dark circles under his eyes after the second infection of them last July. Do you have any perspective on this? Also, would bone broth benefit by bringing healing to his gut? (he has had food sensitivity to peanuts, citrus, strawberries since he began eating food at 11 months) (he was breastfed until then). Is there a regular “parasite detox” regimine that is safe for me to administer to the kids? How would I need to change some of your doses recommended to be kid friendly? Can my son use diatemecious earth?Thank you for your time!!!

I read through the comments and couldn’t find the answer so I apologize if you have already answered this question, but was wondering what your thoughts are on taking DE and pregnancy? Also what about for young kids? Thanks!!

I’ve taken it during pregnancy and have given it to kids as early as a year…

If you are experiencing some chronic intestinal-related discomfort, I recommend giving the Lady Soma Probiotics a try. It’s the same concept as that Dannon Activia yogurt but way more useful, because people with tummy trouble often have lactose/dairy problems and can’t eat yogurt. I was getting a lot of bloating and discomfort after eating just about anything and was starting to get freaked out. I’ve been taking these Lady Soma Probiotics for almost 2 weeks now and have definitely noticed a difference. I haven’t been having uncomfortable food/intestinal reactions, and without getting too explicit, visiting the toilet these days is practically something I look forward to now. I feel “regular” and “productive” for the first time in months and have a feeling that I had too much intestinal bacteria. These

I hope they work for you, too, because it’s no fun to be bloated and gassy all day!!

I had the same problem and found out that I had Blastocystis Hommis which is difficult to get rid of. I ended up taking a prescription antibiotic SMZ – TMP 800/160 for almost 6 weeks and then have to deal with getting the good intestinal flora back. Metroconizole didn’t work for me.

Hi there, Just saw this article and it looked very helpful to me. I was diagnosed with ‘IBS’ by the doctor and as many of you may know, this is an extremely ambiguous and lazy term given by doctors. I then went to a local health store after being told I just had to deal with ‘IBS’ and had an allergy testing using a VEGA testing method. The lady told me that she reckoned I have a wheat intolerance, and also said that I have a Fungal/Yeast/Bacterial infection in my gut. I haven’t had any colonoscopies, and haven’t been to a doctor since the said VEGA testing. I’ve had IBS like symptoms for 3-4 years now, (including diarrhea, stomach cramps, irregular period and a low immune system) and i’m pretty bloody tired of it, as no definite answer as to what’s happening in my tummy has been given. I’m currently starting to take Yeo valley yoghurts as aparently these contain the most good bacteria, can anyone suggest anything else that might help me? I would greatly appreciate a reply, thanks :)

Are there any foods or other minerals that shouldn’t be eaten while on DE?

  • CeCe

    I’m a 44 yr old female.
I have never done a parasite cleanse–ever. I’ve read the comments above and wondering
about the dietary suggestions of avoiding dairy and sugar, for example. While online, came across recommendation to
do a parasite cleanse before doing a liver cleanse or gallbladder cleanse. Was diagnosed last yr with gallstones; but no
symptoms. I initially went to the dr b/c
    of loose stools (uncontrollable) after eating on occasion (was inconsistent;
not sure if it was too many spices or particular food was giving me trouble). Dr. said I had IBS and gallstones and wanted
to (of course) remove my gallbladder.
But since I had not had a “gallstone attack” decided to forego that and
use Royal Breakstone to flush the stones.
Felt better. But now a year
later, had a very painful gallstone attack.
I did the olive oil/lemon juice flush last weekend, out of urgent need
to feel better. It did help
tremendously. However, still feel I need
to do a couple more cleanses of the gallbladder; still some discomfort.

So back to my question: I’ve given up eggs since the “IBS”
symptoms flare up; I appear to be lactose intolerant (and milk just tastes
funny lately); the only thing that doesn’t bother me ARE simple carbs—which I
which I know aren’t good, but… what am I to do? Any diet suggestions for parasite cleanse?

    hey Wellness Mama,

I am almost convinced that I have yeast parasites. I have had severe abdominal pains in the past and I concluded that it was because of a lactose intolerance. I switched to almond milk and that seemed to help a lot. But occasionally I will still get the abdominal cramps with bloating. I am consistently extremely gassy and constipated. I do not eat a lot of refined sugar, but I do eat a lot of fruit and carbs. I am a collegiate runner and usually depend on breads, granola bars etc for fast energy. I understand that this is probably not best! I also recently had an outreack of a facial rash that seems to be seborrheic dermatitis on my face. In doing a detox what would you recommend for fuel foods for running? Also, I know you encourage people to slowly detox, when does one know when the parasites are gone? When is it okay to eat fruit again? Thanks so much for your articles!!

  • http://wellnessmama.com Wellness Mama

Chia seeds are great for endurance/running and it really depends on your body on when you’ll be able to introduce things again..

I have heard of this…. after reading so much about parasitic invasions…. cause I had cysts…ovarian… and endometriosis… I read Hulda Clark’s theory on the parasite encapsulates itself to prevent the body from attacking it as the outer skin is your own, the cyst casing so to speak…. and so you treat yourself… and the cyst or cysts burst and then your body can get them!!!!

  • P Hicks

Thanks for the info… I have never heard of the di earth… must get the spelling right…. I have used ParaGone, Cloves, Pau d’arco, Fennel, Black Walnut Hull (common in Native American Indian uses for parasites), Sage, Tumeric, and Colloidal Silver, so you have given me a few to mix around as I just got told I have IBS again… after curing it with parasitic, natural remedies the last time (15 years ago +)….due to researching it myself…. as medical tests can only identify only about 5% of existing parasites, and of that the test can only seem to see about 20%…not good…. if your Eosinophils are in blood results it can be indicative of it… Anyway… thanks…I just bought Ceylon Cinnamon and am wondering which cinnamon you suggest, as I read Cassa v.s. Ceylon have different amounts of Coumarin in them, which too much of can be toxic, difference being 2-5 ppm v.s. 2,000-5,000 ppm, wondering if it is that component of the cinnamon that is having the effect and therefore the Ceylon won’t cut it…. hmmmmm
