You’ve probably heard horror stories of 3-foot tapeworms camping out in someone’s gut. Most parasites though are so small they can only be seen with a microscope! Millions (if not billions!) of people around the world have parasites. Many don’t even know it.

Intestinal Parasites

There’s a very good chance you have yeast overgrowth or intestinal worms. The CDC estimates over 60 million in the US are chronically infected with toxoplasmosis. And at least 14% of us have been exposed to toxocariasis. And that’s just in a developed country.

Countries with poor sanitation and poor hygiene due to economic factors are even more likely to have issues. The World Health Organization estimates over 700,000 people worldwide die each year from parasites and vector-borne pathogens. The prevalence of parasitic diseases is likely much higher than estimates.

Our bodies are literally crawling with hundreds of strains of yeasts and bacteria. The digestive tract alone holds more than three pounds of bacteria. We need them in the right balance for good digestion and nutrient absorption in the intestinal tract. Probiotics are the good guys and have a huge impact on our health.

Out of Balance

When the good bacteria get out of balance, problems begin. There are many risk factors including diet, certain medications, stress, contact with infected sources, and others. Our bodies also host naturally occurring yeasts. When we have an overgrowth this can have a big impact on health (and not in a good way). While vaginal yeast infections may sound familiar, they’re usually a sign of a much larger infection.

The most disturbing invaders to our bodies, in my opinion, are parasites. Sadly, most people carry these guys around too. Studies have found that most people, especially those with chronic diseases and cancer, are host to at least one kind of parasite.

Parasites can range from tiny ones only seen by a microscope to long tapeworms (several feet long). A tapeworm can live for 30+ years and parasite infections can last for years!

Different Types of Parasites

We don’t really want to think about the creepy crawlies in our gastrointestinal tract. But it’s important to know what we’re dealing with here. With the high prevalence of intestinal parasites, there are a whole range of different types. Common intestinal parasites include:

  • Whipworms – Nearly 800 million worldwide have whipworms. They hang out in the large intestine and are a type of helminth infection. It’s transmitted by fecal contaminated soil and contaminated food grown in that soil. Lighter infections don’t even have symptoms.
  • Tapeworm infection – Tapeworms can cause intestinal parasitic infections but they can also travel to other parts of the body. Young tapeworms form cysts and can live in other organs, including the brain, liver, spine, and heart.
  • Roundworms – The larvae can infect various body tissues. Ascariasis is also a type of roundworm. Mature worms like living in the gastrointestinal tract, blood, and lymphatic system.
  • Pinworms – These are the most common intestinal worm infection in the US. The females lay thousands of eggs while their host is asleep. This can cause intense itching on the anus and restless sleep. The microscopic eggs are most commonly spread between young children. It’s important to regularly wash all sheets, pajamas, and underwear. You’ll also want to treat the whole family if one of you has it.
  • Hookworm Infection – Along with Ascaris, hookworms are a helminth parasite. They live in the small intestine and attach to the intestinal wall and cause blood loss. Many infected people don’t have symptoms.
  • Entamoeba histolytica – The CDC estimates only 10-20% of people with E. Histolytica show symptoms. It’s more common in tropical regions or you can pick it up by visiting one. Those living in unsanitary conditions or men in homosexual relationships are also at risk.
  • Protozoan – Protozoa infections, like giardia and giardia lamblia, are microscopic. They infect the blood and can be transmitted from one person to another through mosquito or bug bites. They can also infect the human intestinal tract and be transmitted through feces.
  • Cryptosporidium – Aka crypto, this parasite is one of the most common waterborne diseases in the US. You can get it from the ingestion of contaminated food or water, including while swimming. It can cause symptoms like diarrhea, abdominal pain, and weight loss. Not everyone who is infected has symptoms, but they can still pass it to others for about 2 months after infection. Those with a weakened immune system are most at risk for serious symptoms.

How Do We Get Parasites?

Parasites can enter the body in a variety of ways, depending on the type. You can get it through contact with contaminated soil, eating raw or undercooked meats, or even from bug bites. If you’re traveling to a developing country or drink contaminated water you’re also at risk. Because some parasites are microscopic and live on surfaces for several weeks, they’re easy to spread.

Treating parasites is a 3 step process. First, we have to kill the invaders, then they (and the toxins they create) need to be flushed from the body. Finally, we need to support the body in healing and regenerating itself.

How to Tell If You Have Parasites

There are many symptoms directly or indirectly associated with parasites. If you have several of these symptoms, there’s a good chance you have an infestation. Remember that some parasites don’t even cause symptoms though!

Symptoms of Parasites

  • Lowered immune system and constant illness
  • Rectal itching, especially at night
  • Digestive problems like bloating, cramps, constipation, diarrhea, or nausea
  • Bloating and gas
  • Tired all the time
  • Floaters or spots in the eyes
  • Trouble sleeping and teeth grinding at night
  • Anemia
  • Asthma
  • Flu-like symptoms
  • Joint and muscle pain
  • Psoriasis or eczema
  • Extreme hunger
  • Anxiety and depression
  • Plus many more…

If left untreated, Candida, yeast, and parasite overgrowth have been linked to a plethora of chronic conditions. Yeast and Parasites are often found in people with the following conditions:

  • Infertility or permanent fertility damage
  • Cancer
  • Multiple Sclerosis
  • Autoimmune disease
  • Arthritis
  • Osteoporosis
  • Malnutrition
  • Vitamin Deficiencies
  • Chronic Fatigue
  • Leaky Gut Syndrome
  • Kidney Stones
  • Chron’s Disease
  • Skin conditions including eczema and psoriasis
  • Insomnia and sleep disturbances
  • Digestive problems of all kinds

Conventional Parasite Treatments

Typically your healthcare provider will order a stool test. Stool samples that don’t contain live, visible parasites are considered negative. PCR tests though can detect dead or dormant parasites. If someone tests positive they can be prescribed anti-parasitic drugs.

Natural Remedies for Intestinal Parasites

The good news is there are effective natural treatments to help the body kill and remove parasites. If you suspect that you have an issue, you might consider some of the treatments below.

Change What You Eat

Since parasites thrive in a weakened immune system, eating healthy is one of our best defenses. Lots of sugar depresses our immune system and causes microbe imbalances. I recommend getting rid of all processed sugar and even reducing natural sugars. Sources like honey and high-sugar fruits can still cause problems during an active infection.

Some natural stevia is ok once in a while, but avoid anything that gives the body a sugar source and feeds yeast or parasites. Also, consider skipping dairy to give your body a boost. Eating healthy whole foods is a must!

Sweat it Out

As your body kills off parasites, their toxic by-products must be removed from the body. Some of these (like heavy metals) are best removed through the sweat glands. Work up a sweat by exercising, using the sauna, or even working in the garden! Taking cayenne is another good way to kick up the heat.

Diatomaceous Earth (DE)

This naturally occurring substance has an amazing ability to kill parasites and parasite eggs. It’s naturally high in the silica we need for hair, skin, and nail growth. Plus it has trace minerals and can help restore body tissue and improve digestion.

I start with 1 tsp a day in 8 ounces of water and work up to 1-2 Tablespoons a day. Be sure to only use food-grade DE. Taking DE may also cause a Herxheimer reaction (see more below).

Apple Cider Vinegar

What can’t apple cider vinegar do? It may help lower blood sugar, improves digestion, and kills harmful pathogens. It helps the body detox for clearer skin and a healthier body. While it won’t kill parasites on its own, it strengthens the body’s defenses against pathogens.

ACV is strong on its own so be sure to take it in water. I start with 1 teaspoon up to 3 times a day, 30 minutes before a meal. You can increase up to a Tablespoon at a time.

Probiotics

Probiotics help restore the helpful gut bacteria that are wiped out by parasites (or antibiotics or hormonal birth control). We need these good bugs for a healthy gut. I include lots of fermented foods in my diet, and I also like this probiotic supplement. Just don’t take them within an hour of ACV or diatomaceous earth though!

Herbs and Spices

Garlic is a powerhouse when it comes to pathogens and parasites. You can include minced raw garlic cloves liberally in your diet.

Cinnamon is another natural remedy for parasites. You can use ½ teaspoon of high-quality cinnamon powder in water, kefir, or coconut milk yogurt up to three times a day.

Anti-parasitic essential oils include clove, eucalyptus, fennel, and white camphor. These are great to diffuse or can be diluted and used topically. Consult with a qualified aromatherapist before using any essential oils internally.

Herbs commonly used for parasites include andrographis and a blend of clove, wormwood, and black walnut hull. You can also use digestion and immune boosting herbs to strengthen your body’s natural defenses. Be sure to do your research before trying any new herbal regimen!

Vitamin C

Vitamin C is an excellent antioxidant and great for immune support. It’s also helpful for parasite infections. If you have parasite symptoms you can use 5 grams of vitamin C per day spread out in 2-3 doses. Too much can cause loose stools so you can adjust the dose down if needed.

Coconut Oil

Coconut oil is a natural, mild anti-fungal, and very nourishing to the body. If you’re not already using it in your cooking, it also tastes great blended into coffee or tea. You can add several tablespoons a day for healthy fats and to support healthy bowel movements as you’re eliminating toxins. Personally, I don’t use coconut oil as much anymore and mainly use olive oil.

Herxheimer’s Reaction

Sometimes getting rid of parasites can be uncomfortable. Herxheimer’s reaction, named after the German doctor who discovered it, is basically a die-off reaction. Trying to treat parasites and infections quickly or with potent remedies can cause a Herx reaction.

It’s best to be on an anti-yeast/parasite diet for several weeks before even starting supplements, This can help minimize reactions. You can start with small doses of apple cider vinegar and diatomaceous earth. Work your way up to help keep the die-off symptoms at bay.

You may even find that you “catch a cold” a week or so after starting to treat your yeast and parasite symptoms. This is actually a mild Herxheimer reaction. Backing down supplements and drinking more water should help it pass quickly.

Other Important Notes on Intestinal Parasites

Removing parasites is a difficult job for your body. It’s important to support your body during the process. Regular exercise, a good diet, adequate sleep, and limiting exposure to toxins all help!

Epsom salt baths are another excellent way to help detox through the skin. I like to use 1/2 cup of Epsom salts in hot bath water or try one of these detox bath recipes.

Be sure to drink plenty of water to flush out die-off toxins faster. And of course, plenty of sleep gives the body enough time to regenerate and heal. I aim for at least 9 hours a night. It’s also very important to skip the sugar and refined carbs as these make the process much slower. Raw vegetables and healthy fiber sources help keep your energy levels up and clean the body faster.

I have been taking dia tomatious earth for 4 days. When i used the bathroom today it looked like there was pieces of linguine in my stool. Is that a parasite coming out?

Wow I am very intrigued by your knowledge. I am a 31 yr old male. I was born with a hole in my heart and have had a pacemaker since I was 13. I’ve been pretty healthy considering until the last 2-3 yrs. I had a heart attack in 2009 and recently had shingles in late 2011. I also am losing massive amounts of protein in my urine and was treated with prednisone which literally screwed my entire body up in ways I never thought possible. I’ve also been treated with antibiotics several times through my life due to illness and such. I seem to have 80% of all the symptoms related to yeast/fungus and am pretty much willing to do anything. I generally eat healthy and try to limit processed foods and drink a raw smoothy every day sometimes more. So I guess what I’m wondering is what is the best direction to go from here. I dont like most doctors and prefer the holistic approach to things better!

Have you ever tried a naturopathic doctor? If you’ve never heard of one it’s okay…i hadn’t either…you should google the definition and then find one in your area. A Naturopath just helped me rid my body of what you described above. Start with a strict candida diet and you can beat it! good luck

    2. Mona Avatar

My naturopathic doctor had me take 1/4-1/2t cream of tarter in juice or water every day for several weeks. The COT killed the yeast infection and I’ve not had any recurring flare ups.

      1. Amanda Avatar

Is that healthy for children or babies? And do you know what’s safe for babies or children for parasites? None of that is going into my children I’m sure. Maybe trick them into thinking acv is apple juice but would it beat parasites?

Thanks for the info! Do you know if I can take a diflucan and antibiotics to treat a bacterial infection at the same time? Just want to make sure they don’t make each other less effective…

Hi … Through trial and error I discovered the solutions you list on your site here to combat the numerous types of parasites I had. A couple of comments: Elephant garlic is not really garlic and will not be effective. Really good garlic is hard to find all year round so the DE in water is the other wonderful solution you can depend upon. I wish I had found this site when I first discovered the critters. It would have saved me a lot of tears and trouble.

I know I have parasites. How can I kill them and flush them out? The items above, are they for healing? I started a yeast free diet and plan to take cinnamon and acv. Is that enough to kill and flush them?

It will really depend on your individual case but the things above shouldn’t hurt.

I just got my DE in and I took my first dose. It is very chalky in a drink. Any other way to take it? Starting with a tsp and seeing how that goes.

Ok. Thanks. I may try to start adding it to a protein drink. I take the Bragg’s apple cider vinegar and coconut oil.  CandiGone from the health food store and just started adding CandElim from that guys site that I posted above. We will see what it does. I drink tons of water so, so far no die off symptoms that I can’t live with. My candida may not be as bad as I thought it was and I am hoping for that.

Hi wellness mama, I am having some serious issues and I was hoping you would be able to help. I Believe that I do have Candida. I have white patches on my tongue,I am always tired, I have had gerd, and I have severe halitosis. Is it possible that Candida can cause your breath to smell so badly that it stinks up a room? I am so miserable…I don’t know what to do. The dentist told me that my teeth are great. And the doctor doesn’t really respond to my questions about halitosis.

Check your tonsils. Some people get “tonsil nuggets”. They are little stones that get embedded in your tonsils. They carry a horrible odor if no removed regularly. I don’t know what causes them or how to prevent them. Also, periodontal disease can also cause halitosis. The technical name for tonsil nuggets is tonsilloliths and not many dentists know of them for some reason. Google it. Good luck! Removing them can be challenging due to gag reflex and embedding in the tonsils. Q tips pressed on the tonsil helps in removal.

I have that too. It is horrible. My allergy doctor just told me I am allergic to Candida. He also told me I had Candida infections in both ears. I am certain I have. Severe overgrowth. I’ve just started on the vinegar & have a horrible headache. Any suggestions or help welcomed!

I am not so good with the chalky taste of DE either. I was putting it in my coffee in the morning & adding a little coconut oil as well – I am not sure if those two together (coconut oil & DE) is okay to use together or not since the DE will absorb the nutrients of the Coconut oil. I have been researching using DE for a few weeks now & I just bought some empty capsules (on amazon) to fill with the DE so that I can take it that way instead. It seems much easier for me to just take a couple of small capsules daily and I have read good reviews by doing it this way as well. I hope this helps you some.

So I am new to your site. I have been dealing with thrush with myself and my 7 month old daughter on and off since she was one month old. It seem like we just about kick it and then it rears its ugly head again. Should I follow these guidelines? I am still nursing as well. I feel the reason why we got it is because of stress and also I went from not wanting any sugar during pregnancy to not be able to eat enough cookies after, I completely bombarded my body with sugar. It was really  bad. I have been taking a garlic supplement, a probiotic, and using grape fruit seed extract and eating coconut oil. Thanks for the info

    1. Alexis Avatar

Be careful. Grape fruit seed extract is not usually recommended for long term use. Also, my infant had chronic thrush which did not respond to treatment – she had immune globulin A deficiency. I had to chew her food for her so my saliva would kill the thrush. Her condition did shortly resolve itself. For you, merely eliminating all sugar and complex carbs might cure it.

This is some really helpful information! I went on vacation to the Dominican and got very sick on my last night, My doc had given me some antibiotics before I went in case I got travellers diahrrea and told me to just take two, which worked. 2 weeks later I’ve suddenly had chronic diahrrea, dizziness, extreme nausea, loss of appetite and fatigue. I thought it was just the stomach flu at first but its been over a week. I’ve been to my doctor and done blood and stool tests and waiting on the results, but I do feel like I’ve got parasites. I’ve also lost about 4lbs and I’m already pretty scrawny so this is bad news for me. I will wait on my results and doctors advice before I try any of this though.

I just posted a comment regarding green tea, but want you to know that I have being dealing with Scabies parasite since mid-September 2012.  I thought that I had gotten rid of the scabies parasite a couple times…only  for them to return.  I got them after moving in to a different apartment or from buying a mattress that I now understand may not have been new.  Anyhow….been going through a very difficult time with itchy terrible nights and haven’t been able to work…trying all different types of treatments….not having the money for good food or even basic needs.  I’m now trying TriMedica Pure MSM liquid (sulfur) and Biosil Silicon (as Choline-Stabilized Orthosilicic Acid with Choline).  In the past, have also tried:  Green Black Walnut Wormwood Complex (with Clove), Ivermectin (Stromectol 12mg), Epsom Salt Baths, Hydrogen Peroxide and Borox baths, Clove Oil (tried based on outbreak study done by Australian Government).  I have to say the Stromectol Ivermectin has worked the best with clove oil put on skin when needed.  But, the Stromectol can’t be taken regularly as it is hard on the liver.  It really works for a few days and then the parasite/mite is back – probably because the eggs (that aren’t killed) then hatch and breed and mate and the circle of infection continues.  Please help.  So tired of spending money that is so hard to come by right now and then the treatments either don’t work or only work for a short time.  Should also say the Walnut/Wormwood complex also seemed to work somewhat, but I haven’t been able to afford it again.  Again, I need to know what will stop this…..Does the DE work?  How is this DE (?silica) related or different from Sulfur as MSM and Silicon (not Silicone).  Please educated advice would be so much appreciate.  I am at my witts end.  Thank you.

My little brother had scabies when he was living with my sister and I. They are very contageous. Both my sister and I applied a mix of castor oil and tea trea oil (with a bit of olive oil & coconut oil to make it less sticky) every night during that time. We never got scabies.
We had my brother wash his sheets everyday in really hot water, along with the clothes he was wearing, and we threw away his mattress which was where they had been living. He was applying a steroid cream from the doctor, but he also used the castor oil mix.
We also sprinkled diatomaceous earth on the couches. We don’t have carpet, but if you did I would sprinkle either borax or DE on it as well.
He had it for several months before he moved in with my sister and I but he got rid of it within two weeks of living with us and doing the above protocol.
If you’re looking for something cheap, I would recommend the castor oil & tea trea. The castor oil has ricin in it which kills the mites and tea tree is supposed to paralyze them, and they don’t like the smell of it. Hopefully you’ve gotten rid of them by now, but for anyone else out there, that’s what worked for us. (Along with the steroid cream and extremely good hygeine)

Can you tell me does drinking Green Tea help with/beneficial to trying to get through the “die off/herx” process.  I thought I heard somewhere that green tea competes or cancels out some anti-parasitic or anti-yeast etc. treatments……such as Green Black Walnut Wormwood….(Maybe because green tea as an antioxidant thinks the treatments are bad guys and so the green tea attaches to treatments and then washes them out of the sytem instead of leaving them in to do good work.)  OR is green tea truly beneficial in the process of trying to get rid of parasites and candida/yeast in that it doesn’t disrupt the treatments but then does help to get rid of the toxins out of the body…please help with this…I am wanting an EDUCATED answer versus someone answering without real-life experience.  Please feel free to say if you don’t have experience with this.  By the way, I very much enjoyed your articule.  Thank you.

    1. Alexis Avatar

I will reply that I found that Green Tea had no effect one way or the other. The very good protocol outlined here seems to be for internal parasites. If it scabies you are battling you might have to see a doctor and be sure to really upgrade your cleanliness. I also had a horrible reoccurring bug parasite problem which I found to be from the barn swallows nesting under our eves! Removing the nests and spraying the perimeter of the house and sweeping often with a vacuum solved that problem – but you live a nightmare trying to identify the problem and then searching and finding a solution. Good luck!!

What did you spray with? We’ve encountered this bird parasite problem twice in the past and had to hire a professional. I want to be prepared for them on my own this time! What did you use to get rid of them? Thank you!

You are doing amazing work! Thanks for sharing your wonderful posts. I had some problems with parasites. It is often a waste of time to try and find eggs in stools as they are extremely difficult to detect. Best is just to treat with Albendazole or Mebendazole-Vermox. This helped me a lot! Albendazole and mebendazole (vermox) are broad spectrum antihelmintics and most likely to be effective.

Our son picked up scabies from an ambulance ride to the hospital.

We successfully treated with sulfur ointment (10%for ethnic hair) and h2o2 hydrogen peroxide and lavender bath daily.

I also bagged all clothing except 1 pair of clothes and 1 pair of Jammie’s. Every cloth item including sheets and clothing were washed daily in Hot/boiling water. All couches and mattresses were covered with covers or sheets which also got washed daily and all furniture were dusted with DE and vacuumed daily.

It took nearly 3 weeks to convince me that they were dead. Our skin was still itchy and inflamed. We then started healing our skin with coconut oil and oatmeal baths.

This has been the worst experience of my life.

Don’t stop eating sugar. Definitely see your doctor before it worsens; ask to have your stool examined. Make sure to tell your doctor all of your symptoms. Possibly take some of the treatments in small amounts if it makes you feel better, but dont overdo it

I’m reactive hypoglycemic – my blood sugar dropped to 30 in a 5 hour glucose tolerance test. I found if I quit sugar I wasn’t so bloated, lost weight, had more energy, and my body/blood sugar was not doing the up and down thing constantly. When I eat sugar or carbs, my insulin attacks it too much. Then I have to eat more to stabilize it again- which, if I eat more sugar/carbs, it just repeats. Protein and fats stabilize blood sugar levels. Also there are still some carbs in veges and nuts- some more than others. Enough nutritionally but not enough to spur a reaction. Once I got over the initial “I hate life I just want chocolate or bread ” for a couple of days, I felt so much better. A lot of protein in the morning helps me too– used to be with eggs and bacon but now I’ve gotten used to a couple of protein shakes. I love my protein shakes in the morning- it gives me energy and is my coffee equivalent.

    2. tunie Avatar

This also indicates a possible protein deficiency – people tend to crave sugar when they need protein.

    3. jenni Avatar

Not sure how old your comment was but hypo and going low can be in reaction to the quick highs you are getting from the sugar, try more whole grain and slower acting carbs and make sure you eat every 3 or so hours consume with a fat and protein WITH you carb/sugar to slow absorption so that your blood sugar stays stable an does not jut up and then fall quickly. work with your doctor and see if you can get a referral to a dietitian. Then if that does nothing try the parasite route, Hypoglycemia is a sign of pre-diabetes

First I would like to say THANK YOU for  all the valuable information that I have received through your website. You have helped me tremendously in getting my health back and I enjoy your blog dearly and have shared this with many others! I’ve just become aware in September that I am Gluten Intolerant and have a number of food and environmental allergies and have also encountered parasites that  I have been being treated for. I am still struggling to get rid of them. I am totally Gluten free and following a Paleo diet. I am also religiously following your steps to ridding the body of parasites ie: Garlic, Vinegar, Dietomacious Earth as well as taking Gelatin to help aid with hair and nails after reading your post on Gelatin. I have no added sugars to my diet. I was wondering if there are any fruits and vegetables best to avoid Should I steer clear of fruits and higher sugared vegetables like sweet potatoes? And with Kombucha, is it best to make your own or is it safe to buy from the store? I saw that there is an Organic Raw Kombucha by Synergy but am worried about the type of sugar that is in this? Any suggestions?

Thank you so much for all of your help and wealth of information!

I have loads of the symptoms that you talk about above, and started with Diatomaceous Earth a week ago. I am experiencing a rash on my chest, and itchiness everywhere, pluss some pleurisy pain. But at the same time I have noticed that I am not as exhausted after work and my nails are getting stronger.

It might help to back off the dose and start with a smaller one. Those sound like detox effects, which are good, because it means your body is removing toxins, it just might be too much at once!

I just realized that I probably picked the worst time of year to cleanse my body.  I just started taking Diatomaceous Earth 4 days ago and today when I woke up, I felt queasy, gassy, bloated, like my stomach was churning, had diarrhea, and have chills.  I hope it will ease up if I start drinking some fresh vegetable/fruit juice…?  Thank you so much for your posts.

I just recently removed grains from my diet, and this last week I got a cold . . . I thought the two weren’t related until I re-read this article. I’m going to try some of these more direct remedies to finish killing off whatever remains. Thanks so much for all the terrific info!

In 1928 Richard Simmons, M.D. hypothesized that colds and flu virus enter through the ear canal. According to Dr. Simmons, contrary to what you may think or have been taught about how you catch a cold or the flu, there is only one way that you can catch either, and that’s via the ear canal – not through the eyes or nose or mouth as most have believed. Once the cold and flu virus have entered the inner-ear, they begin their breeding process, and from there have access to every avenue throughout our body to infect and make us sick.

In 1938 German researchers had great success using hydrogen peroxide in the ear to treat colds and flu. Then in the 1940’s antibiotics were discovered and were so successful in treating bacterial infections like pneumonia or strep throat that people forgot all about treating colds and flu with hydrogen peroxide. We now know that antibiotics will do nothing for colds or flu that are caused by viruses.

It is a medical fact that antibiotics do nothing for the flu or a cold caused by a virus. People in the know, however, for many years have been using hydrogen peroxide to attack the influenza virus and the common cold virus where they begin their breeding process in the inner-ear (middle) and not where they have already spread. It is important to begin treatment as soon as symptoms appear – with one caution, It should not be done if you have a perforated eardrum!

We have found remarkable results in preventing the flu or a cold by administering a few drops of 3% hydrogen peroxide (h2o2) into each ear. The h2o2 starts working within seconds to kill the cold or flu virus. You will probably feel nothing or there may be some bubbling or mild stinging. Wait a minute or so and then drain onto a tissue and repeat in the other ear. A bottle of hydrogen peroxide in 3% solution is available at any drug store for about a dollar.
Check out h202 therapy. Hydrogen Peroxide Therapy. Already love this site for overall wellness! Thanks Mama 🙂

Couldn’t agree more with using hydrogen peroxide. I am high school teacher and am exposed to hundreds of kids each day. Since using this treatment, I have not been sick at ALL since August. That’s a first in eleven years!!! It works, even though it is a bit strange.

      Hello,

Hope you are well!! I had self-diagnosed myself years ago with Candida. I had gone to many doctors and have had every exam possible to possibly find out what my discomfort was. When I had the breath test done it came back positive for bacteria overgrowth which also added to my assurance. The discomfort I experience is right under the right rib cage and is a constant discomfort, no pain. It is as though something is full and applying constant pressure and tightness. Do you think that is Candida? I have done the diets many times but always falter after a few months.

But my real question is…I have had infrequent diarrhea for 2 days and constant stomaches. I feel ok, low energy a bit but overall ok. And I’m just not understanding why this is not going away and its not more constant or frequent. This made me think it could be parasites?
So therefore they tell you to eat bland while having this but it doesn’t seem to be helping. Sorry to be gross, but every time I go to the bathroom it is diarrhea. I am scared to do the apple cider, veggies and so forth with having “D”. What do you think???

      1. Christina Avatar

Sounds like it may be your gallbladder and/or liver in addition to candida. All humans carry parasites. All three issues need to be addressed and there is no magic pill to make it all go away. It will require a change in diet, supplements, and lots of pure filtered water. Exercise also helps immensely. Good luck!

        1. keri Avatar

I have been battling a Candida overgrowth for a while. Thru trial and error I have found that when I’m taxing my body too hard, my liver tells me and it’s exactly what you are describing. My liver trying to filter the toxins makes it sore. So I take regular dieses of milk thistle and vitamin D, and I’ll drink food grade bentonite clay in a glass of water, I also like to use lemon essential oil in my drinking water and an essential oil blend that I rub over my liver area twice a day for a few days And then I find a heating pad on my liver area a couple of times a day makes a big difference.

      2. Lisa Avatar

I would bet that it is your gallbladder. I struggled for 7 years with that pain/discomfort under my right rib. Waxed and waned. I was diagnosed with late stage Lyme Disease a year ago, and my doctor wanted me to have my gallbladder removed before I started treatment. I know it sounds extreme, but the gallbladder is a common problem amongst Lyme Disease patients. I took my time in making a decision. The surgeon who I saw said that he has a “pocket” of patients who have clear gallbladder issues, but do not present with the usual stones on ultrasound, or abnormal HIDA scan (gallbladder function test). He believes its due to a refluxing gallbladder, for which there is no test. Fortunately for me, I was told after the surgery, that I definitely made the right decision. My gallbladder was covered with adhesions and everything (organs) were sticking to it. That ever present discomfort under my right rib is gone, and so is a lot of the referred pain that was in my back (right kidney area). Adhesions form as a result of chronic inflammation. My energy level has also increased greatly since the surgery. I think the inflamed gallbladder was a huge tax on my system. While this may not be the case for you, I just wanted to suggest that you have some tests to look at your gallbladder, and know that the testing isn’t perfect. Hope you feel better.

That’s so interesting, Lisa! I think I might be one of those people as well. I just got done with some GB tests that were normal (ultrasound and HIDA). But my gallbladder has been a problem for at least 5 years, not to mention every member of my mom’s side of the family has had theirs out. I had a stool test once that showed two of the secondary bile acids were extremely low. One of them was virtually 0 and the other was well below the normal range. But since my HIDA scan was normal, no one will take out my GB. 🙁 I wish I could have it out. But since I can’t, I am just trying to detox the liver and GB and hoping that it will work better some day.

I ended up being taken to the hospital with extreme pain under my right ribs and in my right shoulder. Ultra sounds and x-rays showed nothing wrong with my Gallbladder. The Dr. said I had a severe Kidney infection and put me on antibiotics and sent me home with the same pain. I searched on the internet for this type of pain and was told it was my Gallbladder. I started using Apple Cider Vinegar with 8 oz of water every time I took a drink, which was more than 3 times a day. I stopped the antibiotics and within 4 days the pain was completely gone. I do the Apple Cider Vinegar treatment every couple of months now!

I don’t know if you ever found a solution
But I’ve had the same symptoms before and was diagnosed with stomach ulcers. I thought it was gallbladder. Try taking coconut oil by mouth. Its a home remedy for ulcers.

        1. Charlan Avatar

The ulcers are caused by helicobacter pylorus and can progress to stomach cancer. Kill it. You are making too little HCL (acid) in your stomach. Buy Betain HCL and take it with meals (3x day) for 2weeks. Pesticide overload is one cause. Pesticides and heavy metals gently removed by 3months on Florescence tea. Helicobacter exposure reinfects, so retreat. If too frequent, try daily dose. Calcium absorption require HCL to fix cellulite.

Hello, I work in the medical profession both in an emergency room AND in a preventative setting…. SOUNDS LIKE YOU NEED A STOOL CULTURE DONE AS SOON AS POSSIBLE… As anything from Campylobacter to only God knows what could be going on…. And if there is pain that you can point to, there very well could be infection as well as a partial blockage which could also cause diarrhea as that is the only way it can pass… One of the hallmark signs of severe chronic constipation is diarrhea ! Because when there is no more room in the colon for stool to form solid, it must make its way past as liquified due to lack of space so to speak…. So get checked out, without testing, you would simply be grasping at straws…. Be well…

        1. Lance Avatar

The medical field is a joke. I’ve had the same sympts for 2 years almost. Seen DRs and ERs galore, they just refer you around taking as much as that insurance check they can. Greedy bastards are useless meanwhile I continue to be eaten from the inside out. So forgive me Lisa when I say your experience in the medical “profession” is a joke.

          1. Raj K Avatar

You need to find you own solution. Medical doctors only know what they are taught by their teachers. I had a gastro specialist tell me food had nothing to do with my IBS. Yet when I cut out dairy it disappeared. He didn’t even look at food intolerances/reactions. Charged me £200 for that lovely bit of advice too, Be your own doctor and if needed find practitioners who look at the gut and the organs liver. kidneys etc.

            Always keep fighting!

          2. Jacqui Avatar

Lance, I completely understand your anger and frustration. I can’t count the money that’s been paid by my insurance, and out of pocket, in my search for health and wellness. I’ve had unnecessary surgeries, and much unnecessary suffering. I know that now, after decades in this journey. I’ve had some doctors who couldn’t have cared less, some who didn’t have answers so turned it back on me as if it were “in my head”, and then I’ve had some who genuinely wanted to help, and admitted it when they had no answer. I can respect the latter.

The problem with physicians is their training. They’re fed lies, and they believe them. A young medical student recently admitted that his professor told them, “all patients lie”. It’s beyond an abomination! It makes me want to scream. Pharmaceutical companies fund, at least partially, medical schools. So they certainly have a lot of sway in what’s being taught. Talk about conflict of interest!

It will probably surprise you to know that I’m an RN. But most of the valuable information I have was reaped by my own private study of nutrition, and motivated not only by trying to help others, but by desperately trying to help myself. I’m probably the least conventional RN you’ll ever know. If you’ll re-read Lisa’s comment above, you’ll see that she says that she also works from a wellness perspective. As a medical professional, we have to find a way to function in traditional medicine enough to keep our foot in the door. That way, we can still reach people who would otherwise never find answers. I believe Lisa was trying to help, and probably gave wise counsel, as a blocked colon can become deadly very quickly. I believe her intent was good. But only you can decide what is best for you.

The person who has helped me most is a nutritionist by profession, but far from ordinary. She basically saved my life when I was dying. My doctors were doing nothing. Traditional medicine has its place at times, sometimes testing does help us figure out what is going on. But most times, I don’t incorporate their suggestions for healing…I choose more natural methods. And I don’t prefer to treat symptoms, rather true solutions.

I don’t know if you believe in prayer, but I do. And I’m praying for you that you might find the best solutions for your body. There is only one true Healer, and He will lead us to Truth when we ask. May God bless you, and encourage you in your journey.

            Jacqui

Lisa is right. I personally strive for balance. That means doing what I can at home to educate myself. If someone is having right sided abdominal pain, they do need blood and stool cultures. Most docs would ask for a blood. Lisa you are right and this could be life threatening. My advise to people that do not get the medical treatment that they desire is: Go Somewhere Else! I have been around the md block and they are not created equally. p.s. I’d get walnut tincture and a parasite cleanse and follow instructions about building up slowly eat no simple carbs or sugars, try to make soup, smoothies, fiber. H2O and alkalize asap P.S. As far as parasite, ever since we were little my mother and Grandmother gave us antiparasitic concoction on a full moon after we grind our teeth, constantly pick your nose or anus or have a rash senna leaves tea with coconut milk. We shredded the coconut and put it in water mix with the tea and drink it the night before. In the morning we would expelled intestinal worms. Gross? Yes but better out than inside of you. Just like lice, ringworm and other parasites we can see there are others we just feel. PS senna tea is very strong but effective laxative and it should be use with care

Don’t know where this information comes from . But Im always surprised on how people think it’s that simple it’s very hard to get rid of parasites there’s so many fungal infections and trillions of Bacterias living in your bowel plus if you have pets they also carry parasite so u would have to also cleanse your pets kids and spouse . it will take lots of time to get rid of . Its hard work to even get close but possible with the right information . Taking medication and herbs will only treat the symptom temporally not make it go away for good . I would suggest start with eating more grassfed animal protein since that’s where most of our parasites come from and here in the us we are all about eating tons of animal protein even if your vegetarian there’s other ways for parasites to be living in your bowel it starts from birth but it’s no ones fault . They are a living organsim just like we are . And they love living in an acidic environment . Which most of us are . Start by taking a strong probiotic if the box says take 1 it will take u about 200 years to heal take 3 twice a day to start and increases as go remember they won’t harm you only benefit . Also try colonics they are amazing in getting rid of parasites. take colloidal sliver but you will need to take a strong dosage .

I am pretty sure I have parasites, and was just diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis a month ago. Then, a couple weeks ago I awoke with lumps on my wrist joints, ankles, and bottoms if my feet. I forgot to say I had had a colonoscopy in June 2015, before which I told my Dr. I thought I had worms/parasites and that maybe he should check that. No. He found 3:polyps and removed and cauterized them. No cancer, yay! But I still am finding these work like things. So a month or so ago he did fecal cultures-about 7 of them, and he says no parasites. I have connective tissue disease and it has been getting worse. I think this is ALL related to the disease, but maybe I don’t have THAT and all my fatigue, diarrhea, lumps, “chronic anger , depression that’s been getting worse, and a lot of the other symptoms y’all have are caused by some kind of bug. I’ve done everything to convince myself I’m not crazy as far as buying bleach, getting glivescand looking at ” it” myself. Sure enough there are worm like creatures, one I unfortunately smashed trying to take a pic for the doc. I’m still bleeding the bright red blood and h, I have a rectal prolapse-does anyone think the egg laying is going on inside the little “crease” from where my rectum comes out(the GI surgeon won’t operate until he knows the worms are gone)? I know this is long, but the blood tests say I have the MCTD yet the symptoms are more than what my research says…can anyone give some advice, I’m scared. They threw me out of the ER when I went in after waking up with these lumps…thanks..

I have had chronic symptoms for 5 years now, with diarrhea, gas bloating, nausea, depression, lack of concentration, fatigue brain fog and the list goes on. I went to a GI specialist and they did a colonoscopy and endoscopy, gall bladder ultrasound and MRI, tested for Hpylori and everything came out negative, except they said they found healed ulcers. They basically said it was gastrititis and also due to depression. I knew better, but could not find anyone to help me. One month ago a friend referred me to a Wellness Clinic where they did a comprehensive stool/saliva test (which by the way my doctors Never did a stool test. In the results I was positive for Hpylori and Trichinelliosis. The emotions are all over the place because I could have found answers a long time ago, but am thankful I am now being treated.

          1. Judi Avatar

            Hi Missy

I can certainly sympathize with you and all the symptoms you are experiencing. I too, just went through brain fog, excessive flatulence, severe watery diarrhea for two months, and bloating. It does sound like you may have parasites.

My symptoms began overnite with giardia parasites (bad filters on our RO system) and I noticed I also had a severe candida overgrowth! I’ve been taking DE and probiotics now for 6 weeks. After the first 3 weeks on DE (of which I had 3 die off flues – 1/week) I decided to tackle my problem further and added to the DE and probiotics by going on the Dr. Hulda Clark parasite cleanse: Walnut Oil Tincture, Wormwood, Cloves, & Ornithine. I also take Oregano Oil Tincture Mediterranean P73. I will continue this treatment for 3 months. My diarrhea came to a halt as soon as I started Dr Clark’s protocol. In 24 hrs! And yes, there were other parasites as well. I now feel great and it’s so good to feel normal again.

Like you, i wasted the first 5 weeks with a doctor and a stool sample that came back negative. But I have PROOF! Before that stool sample result ever came in I knew this was something I had to take care of myself. I thank God for the internet and all those who contribute their horror stories and successes. I might otherwise be lumped into the IBS or Chrohns disease catagories.

Do your own due dilligence, keep reading all you can on your symptoms and how others treated themselves naturally. Because herbs work! I have to admit, I was sceptical and scared to start any protocol. But I also was desperate. I’m still in awe how great I feel already and I still have two months to go.

Good luck to you. Will be glad to answer any questions you have.

            Judi

I completed the first two weeks, currently taking a 5 day break, then will resume another 2 weeks. It also requires changing up the diet, eliminating sugars, gluten, processed foods, dairy, also fruit (for the first 2 weeks). In addition, I have done 4 water enemas and using infrared sauna 3-4 times a week. I purchased a portable sauna from Amazon so I can do it at home. So far, results are: losing 3 lbs, reduced bloating and gas (gas is much less smelly), sugar cravings are GONE. For my next round I am going to add the diatomaceous earth. You need to get tested for Lyme. But not the Western Blot, it’s flawed. Check out either IGenex or the Fry Lab for one of the fluorescent Lyme DNA tests. They aren’t cheap but a lot of your amorphous symptoms could possibly be related to Lyme. There are also co-infections with Lyme and parasites can be common with it also. Lyme is a nasty, insidious, brilliantly adaptable organism that causes all kinds of systemic failure down to the cellular levels. Most mainstream physicians aren’t able to connect the dots, drill down to the cellular level or think outside the box, so to speak. Our pediatrician didn’t even know about the existence of some tests.

You have to be very disciplined with the diet, and find an anti parasitical protocol that works for your body, some of us are quite sensitive, even to DE and herbals, so starting very small dosages, is best to avoid huge Herx reactions. Enemas or colonics are a must, to get rid of the toxins and die off. I remember when I started taking only 1/2 a tsp of DE per day, in 7 days I had the most horrible vertigo, that put me in the hospital. And yes, regular docs won’t ever find anything in the stool, CT scan, MRI’s etc. Find some good alternative medicine practitioners that are able to do specialized stool, blood and saliva testing. It is well worth your health and that of your family, everyone including pets need to deworm.

Wow. I had candida. Used 1 half tsp of DE in 8 Oz water for only three days and it helped. Then week later I had terrible vertigo. Didn’t make the connection till reading this. I got over it in a few days….. but does that mean I can’t use it to get rid of my yeast problems? Or will I get used to using it on lower dosages of DE?

I know this comment is late but in regards to DE, the first 1-2 weeks one may experience all sorts of things, from the vertigo you mentioned, to break-outs on the skin, flu-like symptoms etc.. but that is all part of the process of detoxing/flushing & I encourage everyone trying DE to stick with the DE as they go through the detox process. If you are concerned, by all means see a physician, but stick to your regimen. You will be glad you did. I have been on a 1-2 tbsp of DE for almost 2 years now, and my digestion is better, (I had chronic severe constipation prior to starting DE, was lucky if I could “go” 1-2x every couple of weeks! My skin, hair, nails all look great thanks to the silica (and I am almost 50 years old) – the DE even helped me with weight loss, energy increase, honestly, I could go on & on.
I started using it for my dogs originally after hearing of it’s value in fighting parasites, (7 rottweilers parasite-free for over 2 years, using ONLY DE for prevention – now, that is something!
Just wanted to share that, in case you had quit taking the DE or if anyone else was wondering about what it is, what it does, etc…

How long did you have vertigo for? And did it come and go or was it constant? I am curious as I am currently trying to get rid of a parasite and experiencing fairly constant vertigo, it lessened and has come back again..

Colonics are a form of therapy similar to an enema only more deep cleansing and effective. You obtain these treatments from a Certified Colonic Therapist. I had mine done at Dovestar which is a national company that has clinics. It cost approximately 65 dollars per treatment and were well worth the money that I paid. After the seventh treatment I passed a mound of orange/brown sand that smelled like chemical. It did not have any stool resemblance at all. My system was cleared and even my body felt lighter and the world seemed brighter and more vibrant. I kid you not!
It would be well worth the drive and money to keep my chronic constipation at bay, too.

Wow, 7 that’s great! I’ve had a few and did feel better.
7, just curious how often did you have them? Once a week?
I might try it, I did have a huge emotional release and some odd looking green stuff came out. Sorry so graphic! And when you did yours, were you doing a food cleanse at the same time?
Wondering how clean the diet should be during that time? I don’t usually eat much meat, bread or dairy products.

            thx!!

I recently adopted two puppies. They were weaned so I started them on puppy kibble.
They have had their rabies, distemper and Parvo vaccinations plus got wormed. As puppies do, I have gotten scratched in their excitement to be petted. The scratches became infected and are healing slowly. I have used several applications of campho phenique, iodine, coconut oil, tiger balm (to stop itching) etc.
I have developed an itchy, lumpy rash around the scratch area. Could I have parasite cysts? I have terrible itching that seems to be spreading and the flesh around the rash bumps feels hard.

Yesterday I went to my chiropractor. He said I have candida (yeast) and protozoa (parasite).
My digestion, aches, fatigue and joint discomfort have been worse then usual. I knew I had to do something and basically let my chiro know I was not leaving until we found the source of the problem.
I have been treating my adrenals for over a year now. Thanks to an herb named ashwaganda (6 a day, no more no less) I can sleep through the night.
I have been working at lowering my stress level, however after learning recently that night shade vegetables (tomatoes, peppers, potatoes and eggplant) are not a good option for me since parasites thrive on them and goitergenic foods (broccoli, cauliflower, brussel sprouts, kale, watercress, argula, maca, radishes, daikon, turnips, collard greens and bok choy) are bad news for your thyroid, I am not sure what to eat at all, so my stress level is trying to figure out what will help the causes of my symptoms!!

My Grandparents where Chemists (pharmacists) in Britain trained in the 1920s. They’re remedy for most stomach and bowel issues was a dose of Epsom salts. Basically 1-2 teaspoons in a glass of water has the effect of killing all the flora in the gut good and bad.- a clean slate. Then eating foods that contained, promoted the growth of desired flora (ie yogurt). Old school tech that is so simple and easy that most experts of all stripes can seem to get their heads around. Their are a few provisos to the plan so talk to your doctor before taking magneseum sulfate
