Natural Ways to Improve Skin With Andy Hnilo of Alitura Naturals

Not only is my guest today an elite athlete, CEO of a natural skin care company, and a former model, he’s also a walking miracle. In 2011 Andy Hnilo was struck by a car and severely injured — including injuries to his face that should have meant major scarring. Andy vowed to find a way to regenerate and heal his skin using ingredients from nature.

And it worked! Andy was able to nurture his skin back to health, virtually free of scars. Now he shows others how to do it, too.

Feed Your Skin With Alitura Naturals

When his friends couldn’t stop asking for his skin care recipes, Andy knew he was on to something. He chose the name Alitura Naturals (“Alitura” is Latin for “feeding and nourishing”) and his natural skin care company was born. Their product line offers carefully crafted skin care using only the best, most potent ingredients nature has to offer.

I think there can be a misconception that natural skin care doesn’t really work, but I’ve tried Andy’s products and I’m a believer!

In This Episode You’ll Learn

  • how an accident changed his life (and face) and started his search to find natural ways to care for skin
  • the ingredients in conventional beauty products that can enter your bloodstream and cause problems
  • ways to prevent scarring and promote skin regeneration and healing
  • best ingredients to look for natural skin care
  • one step that doubles the effectiveness of any skin care product
  • ingredients that aren’t as natural as they seem to be
  • the problem(s) with sodium lauryl sulfate
  • how to nourish your skin from the inside out
  • adjusting for skin type — what to do for oily/dry/acne-prone skin
  • and more!

Many Thanks to Today’s Podcast Sponsors

This podcast is brought to you by Four Sigmatic. Four Sigmatic has figured out how to get the benefits of mushrooms like chaga, lions mane, cordyceps and reishi into delicious instant drinks. Their coffee blends contain caffeine less than a normal cup of coffee, but don’t let this fool you. I have found that I get so much more focus and mental clarity from these mushroom blends than I do from regular coffee, and without the jitters. The addition of the mushrooms, which are considered nootropics, meaning that they are good for the brain makes these super food blends more effective and much healthier than just regular old coffee. I also love that many of their drink mixes are instant and packaged into individual servings so they are perfect for travel or on the go. If you’re listening to this, then you can get a special offer just for listeners of this podcast by going to wellnessmama.com/go/four-sigmatic.

This podcast is brought to you by Paleovalley. They make grass-fed beef and now pastured turkey sticks that are high in protein and nutrients and also a good source of probiotics because they’re naturally fermented. Their products are absolutely delicious and individually packaged for on-the-go (no refrigeration needed!). We bring these along whenever we travel and our kids love them. 1. Thank you so much for having me on! Huge fan of all that you do to help others lead healthier lives 🙂

  2. I have lupus, now going through hives every few months! My skin was already quite dry, but t is easy to tear and scarring is so prominent. I a African American, 60 yrs old and need suggestions! *!*

  3. I have had major traumas and wounds that will not heal now from also being hit by a van as a pedestrian and being allergic to hardware in ankle placed in after I broke it. I ended up getting lichenoid planus dermatitus ,which is an auto immune disease, that under stress flares skin with lesions and rash similiar to shingles. i recently started using frankinsense and myrh soap.It is organic and seems to be helping. also I apply organic castor bean oil all over and let it soak in all night. i have a spa to go for a sauna before and a soft water shower to keep clean and detox. to get metal out as I still have hardware scraps of metal still in ankle, that they will not get out saying it might be in the bone by now.Very interested in Andys story and ideas.

  4. I’ll be heading to the site. My son was in an MVA as well and had his face torn open, teeth broken and crushed, so Andy’s story hit home. Hoping something can help with the huge scar left on his face, not to mention nerve damage.
