Natural Liver & Gall Bladder Cleanse

Should I do a liver cleanse

I have gotten a lot of questions lately about liver and gallbladder problems so I am posting a cleanse that is designed to flush out toxins from the liver and gallstones from the gallbladder. It is a relatively inexpensive cleanse and can be done with things from your grocery store.

Natural Gallbladder Cleanse

Please note that I am only posting this because I’ve gotten requests. Not everyone should do a liver cleanse and I highly recommend checking with a doctor first. For more information on this cleanse, visit this link.

Gallbladder Cleanse Ingredients

To start a simple liver/gallbladder cleanse, this is what you will need:

– Apple juice or malic acid supplements (optional)
– 4 Tablespoons of Epsom Salts
– 1/2 Cup of Virgin Olive Oil
– 1 big grapefruit, or 3 lemons

Gallbladder Cleanse Instructions

1. For 4-5 days before your liver flush, eat as many apples, or drink as many apple juice as you can. You can take malic acid supplements if you wish if you can’t drink the juice. In the last 2 days, drink 8 oz of apple juice every 2-3 hours. Doing this will help ensure the liver flush is successful.

2. On day 6, eat a light breakfast with no fat. This enables the bile in your liver to accumulate, putting pressure in your liver. This pressure will eliminate more stones in your liver.

3. At 2:00 PM, the same day, mix 4 tblspoons of Epsom Salts in 3 cups of water, pouring all this into some jar. Do NOT drink or consume any foods after 2 PM. This is extremely important! Put this jar in the cooler/refrigerator to make it cold

4. At 6:00 PM, drink 3/4 cup of this mixture. It will taste very bad… but you can add 1/8 tablespoons of powdered Vitamin C to make it taste better.

5. At 8 PM, drink another 3/4 cup of thix mixture. Get all your errands done, and prepare for the liver flush. You shouldn’t be doing ANYTHING after doing a liver flush, just lying down and sleeping.

6. At 9:45 PM, pour 1/2 cup of virgin olive oil into a jar. Squeeze the entire grapefruit into the mix, removing the pulp with a fork, or chopsticks. You should have 1/2 to 3/4 cups of grapefruit juice mixed with the virgin olive oil the jar. Close the jar, and shake it very hard until it is all liquid.

7. At 10 PM, drink this mixture. You may drink it through some large straw if that makes it easier for you. Try to get it all down by 5 mins or so.

8. Lay down in your bed as soon as you are down. This is crucial, and most people do this wrong. Don’t do any work, don’t even bother brushing your teeth! Just lay down immediately! Lay on your right side, with your right knee up towards your chin for 20 or so mins. Stay still, and try not to move at all. Try to sleep.

9. The next morning, when you wake up, drink a 3rd dose of your 3/4 cup Epsom salts. You can go back to sleep afterwards.

10. Two hours later, drink the last dose of Epsom salts.

11. Only after 2 more hours can you eat anything, but do not eat solid fruits just yet. Start with liquids, and move slowly to fruit.

  1. I don’t have any of those ingredients. Could I just use 2 tablespoons of raw unfiltered Apple Cider Vinegar plus 1 cup of hot/ warm water? Thanks in advance.

    • The oil is necessary to make the gall bladder force bile out of the ducts, and along with the bile, hopefully some of the gall stones. The epsom salts help dilate the ducts so the stones don’t lodge and cause pain. You need to pretty much stick to the protocol of opening the ducts, cleansing the intestines out, causing the gallbladder to release built up bile. If you leave out the apple juice part, there doesn’t seem to be much difference. If you leave out the citrus mixed with the oil, you won’t create the green stones that some people think are the actual gallstones, but aren’t. What is important is to open the ducts, and get the bile to flush out some stones.

      • WRONG! The green stones are definitely gallstones. How do I know this? Because I’ve passed them myself when I’ve eaten NO olive oil.

I’ve seen plenty of bile in my life since we raise and kill our own chickens. Bile is a very bright green. One day I had a pain in my gallbladder – not severe, but a mild pain. A day or two later I saw, in the toilet, a bunch of what looked like bright green peas floating.

        • How did you do your cleanse??? Can you give me the recipe , please?
          Thanks in advance?

        • U wrote 3/4 of the mix 2 times … Its not correct. U mean 1/4 right?

          • Woops i just read… U wrote cup not mix. My bad. U wrote 3/4 of the mix 2 times … Its not correct. U mean 1/4 right?

          • Done the flush four times now. I did the first three about a month apart. My 3rd flush released very few stones, mostly small green flakes. Recently started feeling achy again so completed another flush. Released a few large stones, egg-shaped, about 1/2″ long at the longest point. Here’s how I did it: Monday through Friday I ate light meals, little to no meat, and tried to drink as much unfiltered natural apple juice as possible (watered down). On Friday I just ate fruits and vegetables until noon. At 6 pm I dissolved 1 tablespoon of epsom salts in a tiny bit of water, and washed that down with about 1/2 cup more warm water (to get the horrible taste out of my mouth). You need to be near a bathroom at that point. I repeated that again at 8 pm. Lots of bathroom time by this point. At 940 pm i’m getting ready for bed including brushing my teeth, pajamas on, taking the phone off the hook. You need to be ready to be completely still, including no talk talking. At 10 PM I squeezed one orange and one lemon into a jar and poured half a cup of extra virgin olive oil in with it. I brought that (with a glass of water for later in the night) next to my bed. I also warmed an old towel and put a castor oil on it ( you can skip this step, but I find it soothing and helpful). Set your alarm clock for 6 AM. When you’re completely ready to turn out the lights, you shake up the oil and juice mixture, and drink it in one gulp if possible. Put the Castor oil pack on your right side under your ribs, lie down on your back or on your right side. Turn out the lights and wait. I usually manage to sleep a few hours before I need to go to the bathroom. You cannot eat anything during the night no matter how hungry you are. You will probably feel pretty nauseated from the oil and the Epsom salts anyway, and you won’t want to eat. But don’t even think about it. If you’ve managed to sleep at all that night, you want to make sure you get up at 6 AM. At 6 AM you will take another dose of Epsom salts, just like you did the night before. After that third dose of Epsom salts you’ll start seeing the green stones floating after you go to the bathroom. I like to sleep sitting up from 6 AM until 8 AM until it’s time for the next dose of Epsom salts. After 11 AM or noon, you will be pretty much finished with the flush. You’ll probably feel very tired, and i often have quite a headache. I start reintroducing food graduailly, first watered down juice. If I can hold it down, then I might eat a little bit of fruit about an hour later. Another hour later just some plain toast. Then another hour later maybe a vegetables and some rice. The idea is to eat very light the first few meals. One last piece of advice: do not clean yourself harshly after each trip to the bathroom. You will become very sore if you do. If you are making A lot of trips during the night to the bathroom, it’s better if you just use water and pat it dry.

        • Nope, bile is yellow. I know this for a fact because every time I’ve ever thrown up and ran out of food in my stomach, the only thing that comes out is water and bile, which is yellow. I don’t know what this green stuff is you’re claiming is bile, but it isn’t. And the things you see floating in the toilet aren’t stones, because stones wouldn’t be floating. I know it’s fun to think this hippy dippy stuff is working, but it isn’t. Try reading things that debunk this nonsense you’re endorsing, and you’ll find out the truth. You aren’t accomplishing anything with these “flushes”.
There’s nothing unsafe about ingesting apple juice, and Epsom salts have been used as laxatives for forever, so if you’re just trying to do a general purpose “cleanse” then that’s okay. Just keep in mind that a “cleanse” is just a way of starving yourself for a short period of time. You aren’t actually accomplishing anything with that either, unless it’s part of a religious observation.

          • Stacey E… comments like yours are so disappointing (to put it mildly…) This hippy dippy stuff as you so flippantly called it, has made a significant improvement in my health, as well as many many other bloggers on this site. I don’t profess to know exactly how the “magic” happens, but after just one liver flush, I went from being in a lot of pain on my right side, including my back and collar bone, to being entirely free of the pain withing the space of 24 hours. Don’t knock something until you try it… one day, and I am sure it will come, when the doctor tells you you need to have your gall bladder removed, please do try our “hippy dippy” remedy for yourself, before you submit to the surgeon’s scalpel… and then come back and apologise for your narrow minded approach to what everyone else is saying has worked for them!

          • Bile: Bile is a yellow-green fluid that is made by the liver, stored in the gallbladder and passes through the common bile duct into the duodenum where it helps digest fat. The principal components of bile are cholesterol, bile salts, and the pigment bilirubin.

Many of us have now done this flush and have this experience under our belts. You can have your opinion but until you have experienced gall bladder problems and then the difference after a flush then you are not helping people here. I personally was gob smacked at what emerged from the flush. I spent ages researching it and in the end I was so fed up of the stomach problems I thought I would try it. The stones that came out ranged from green to brown and were akin to the pictures of stones shown in surgically removed gall bladders. I also feel much better so I know now it does work

          • Very well said Gaynor….

          • Your self-proclaimed facts are infact incorrect…yes, bike can be yellow bit bile can also be bright green or dark green or even brown…I know this for a true fact with 30 years experience in the medical field…so let’s not be too hasty in rudely dismissing other people’s suggestions

          • To Stacey: there are all kinds of :”stones”. Most are made of cholesterol, and these will float. Cholesterol is a soft, waxy substance. Others are fully calcified, like tiny limestone rocks, and they will not float. It is too bad that the most common stones, the cholesterol ones, are called “stones”, because people get the wrong idea. Anyway, I’ve passed both kinds after flushes.

          • Stacey E is one of those people who will have their gal bladder removed while shouting that liver flushes don’t work, without ever having tried one. I know many of such people. They rather die under regular treatment than open to possible alternative methods, if those methods are not endorsed by their GP

          • To be so certain by saying “Nope, bile is yellow” because you vomited it up is laughable! If you’ve vomited? It had passed through other systems.
My floating “peas” are marbled bright green, green to brown and dark brown.
You shouldn’t be so certain of yourself, Stacy!
I recently did a Dr. Shultz 5 Day Colon Cleanse (as I do every 6 months, less if needed) and my body discarded the “floating peas”, leading me to research liver/gallbladder cleansing, brining me to many sites. Dr. Shultz offers one, but I like to make my own when I can. With my lifestyle, I need cleanses to be easy. I am looking forward to cleansing this little pear shaped cleansing mechanism, as I’m already started!
Why does taking care of yourself have to be regarded as “Hippy Dippy”, as if only Hippies take care of themselves!

          • Don’t want to be involved in this but I just would like to say. I’ve done these cleanses a few times. The last time I did it I did it because I had an ultrasound with a full gallbladder stones. Didn’t want the surgery so I did it out of desperation. Passed a jar full of stones. Took them to the surgeon and he was impressed. They are definitely gallstones. I had an MRI about a month later my gallbladder was completely healthy and strong free. MRI was for an unrelated condition. Trust me, stones are real

          • Stacey, I know I am beating a dead horse here from last year. But throwing up is in no way related to the liver, who kinda only uses bile in the small intestines.. You purge your stomach, not your intestines. That a completely different kind of fun than this. But this guy took a knife to and opened up a couple dozen animals in his day. After that many you know he played amueater surgeon a couple times too. He saw it. He opened up enough to know how bad it smells too, I promise you.

            Almost as bad you.//

          • Folks the green floating things in the toilet are not gallstones, they are liver stones. You can google the image and see them.

          • I have a question for you… Have you ever done a liver gallbladder flush? If you have never done one then you really have no say-so in commenting on this blog. I can’t stand it when people come across as they know everything because of what they’ve heard from the medical society friends Or doctors and nurses poo pooing it all but they have never ever tried it themselves!! it’s hilarious…the pessimistic ones. Don’t knock it till you try it is my motto. The human body is a fantastic being that we know so little about. Just like fasting you hear all kinds of pros and cons negative and positive about that subject….I wish all the pessimistic people in the world would grow up and have open minds far beyond they’re small little world of beliefs?

          • Stacey you should really do your research before posting such ignorant nonsense. The liver and gall bladder flush is so well documented and so many people have had incredible results. Just go onto Amazon and check out the book – and the hundreds of positive reviews. A Google search will give you enough evidence. Research Andreas Moritz. You are clearly one of those blessed sheep who are indoctrinated with “modern medicine” BS, and resort to calling natural and potent practices with real results “hippy dippy”. Do some more research and educate yourself on how corrupt the pharmaceutical industry is. Or keep going along in your blissful march with the rest of the sheep. But don’t try to “debunk” sound practices which are helping so many people. Where modern medicine wants to cut out organs or poison people with toxic pills that cause further harm, some people are doing the research and taking their health into their own hands; and curing themselves of diseases that modern medicine can’t. Wake up girl.

          • Green is the color of bile which is made by the liver, stored in the gallbladder, and upon eating is discharged into the duodenum (the first part of intestine located just after the stomach). Vomiting bile often presents as a bright yellow to dark green color in the vomit.

          • Stomach acid is yellow, bile is green

        • woops, bile can come in a range from yellow to green. But I still stand by the other things.

          • Stacey –

I don’t normally comment on things like this, but wanted to share my story….About 4 years ago, I personally was in a lot of pain after having to take a serious round of medication (intense antibiotics amongst other things) due to a severe infection. Afterwards I was hardly able to digest any food, and had a sharp pain in what I thought was my liver. My doctor determined that it was my gall bladder and suggested that I needed to get it removed. Unfortunately at the time I did not have health insurance, so I was paying everything out of pocket and was facing the possibility of a huge medical bill if I were to undergo the surgery.

My sister (a nutritionist) suggested I go see her naturopath doctor, and he suggested this cleanse to me. At this point I was willing to try anything because I’d been hardly able to eat much of anything without being crumpled in pain for weeks. I thought, what the hell, if this worked the way he said it did, I was willing to take a chance for a 24 hour cleanse (he did not suggest the apple part to me, just the day of epsom salts, and olive oil/grapefruit—so all of the directions listed from #2 to #10).

I have to say I was not a believer before of this stuff you’re calling “hippy dippy” either. But after I had completed this cleanse, I saw in the toilet several hundreds of tiny pea-like things. If you google it… it’s exactly what the small stones look like. The sharp pain in my left side (which had been causing me—an athlete my whole life—to hardly be able to even walk around without being keeled over) was completely gone. I truly was shocked. My digestion had improved too, where I was able to eat simple foods, like really well cooked vegetables and broths, without pain at all. He had also suggested a series of digestive enzymes and probiotics (I can’t remember what they all were, but they were all herbal because he didn’t believe in traditional medication). Anyway, after about a month at this, I had regained my digestion pretty much all the way back to normal, and just kept on the probiotics.

I’m not sure why you respond with anger to something that you’ve never tried. But this has helped a lot of people— myself included.

It’s okay if you don’t agree with it, but I myself experienced healing from this (and skipped a huge medical bill). It opened my eyes up to the fact that our body is a system that we can heal from a lot of maladies— just like a cut heals naturally, so too can certain organs! I hope that you get the opportunity to experience tremendous healing from a simple, natural remedy one day so you can understand that some “hippy dippy” stuff, like this, is based in science (no fat in the morning allows bile to build up, and a ton of olive oil at night causes it to come shooting out and push out all of the stones).

Anyway, if you’re so angry about natural healing and natural wellness, then feel free to just browse the internet elsewhere. I am grateful that Katie publishes information like this because it helps a lot of people! Feel free to spread some goodness instead of your misguided anger.

          • S. Edwards… thank you for taking the time to share your personal experience with us… so very happy for you that you discovered this cleanse before you went under the knife and lost your gall bladder forever! It was a blessing in disguise that you couldn’t afford surgery… 🙂 Whenever I get the opportunity, I share my positive experience with this cleanse and how it has help heal me. Yours in good health, Joy

          • Hi Stacey, I’m curious why you’re so close-minded and stubborn about this matter? I think you should try it yourself and see if you have any stones come out. Many of us if not All have stones in our gallbladders that have collected because all of our livers work the same daily releasing stones! it’s the normal functioning of the liver plus our diet these days are not Optimum of what our creator intended for us to eat anyways…IT ASTOUNDS ME of the ignorance of those who say You must contact a doctor for his permission to cleanse and heal “Your Own Body”… We are so blindly misled… I would hope more of us become more educated as to how we can heal our own bodies by having common sense and knowledge… Knowledge is golden… Experience is even more golden…GOD BLESS ALL OF YOU….PEACE & LOVE,
            Liann Liberto

        • I too just did a cleanse and passed many green stones before I had even drank the olive oil mixture. There are definately not green from the oil…it is from bile and they are stones 100%.

        • I’m sorry to see some of the vehemence above. I’d like to share some info I’ve come across without meaning to shmush anyone. I’d appreciate patience with my train of thought and your replie without shmushing me too, please.

I’m personally on the fence about whether these are actually gallstones showing up. Apparently a letter to the editor published in the Lancet in 1999 may have started this idea? ( And the Lancet itself published an article in 2005 to explain what was actually happening since the 1999 letter had received so much attention ( It makes me doubt that the green “stones” are gallstones, since everyone will produce the the green “stones” if the olive oil, lemon juice, bile, etc. always react the same way to produce this “saponified” product that the linked article above mentioned, and will always float. Apparently real gallstones have very different properties than these green ones, including sinking in water.

Possibly the real test is in filtering feces following the cleanse to see if any hard, indissoluble stones are found. This cleanse may very well help expel them, but it seems the green stones aren’t gallstones in the sense people are talking about.

I know there’s the talk about repeating the flush until there are no more of the green stones, but has anyone experienced them actually going away completely? I read about one woman saying that she was told she might need to cleanse up to 48 times before they all went away after trying multiple times, which may never happen if the same ingredients keep reacting the same way? Again, I’m thinking filtering to find the real gallstones may help determine the necessity of this?

Gentleness, please. I’m researching while in the middle of health concerns and trying to determine whether this is right for me.

          • Hi Jenny,
First of all, welcome to the masses of us dealing with gallbladder/liver struggles. It is difficult and scary as the mainstream and alternative medical fields disagree so strongly and virtually no reliable science has been employed to help. I am an open minded person who values the offerings of both mainstream and alternative healing modalities (having both saved life’s of those I love) and I believe in self education and personal responsibility in directing our own health care using any and all available resources. I am a believer in sound medical sicentific research AND personal intuition.
I have found amazing support on sites like theses.
I too went into my research skeptical, confused but hopeful for some treatment that didn’t invlove surgical removal of an important functional organ. Even the day of my first “flush” I was berating myself for going through such a ridiculous and highly/vehemently refuted cleansing process. But the thousands of personal testimonials were compelling. The night of the flush I cursed myself for self inducing stomach flu symptoms! Ugh.
I passed about a hundred little green stones despite throwing up most of my oil mixture. I did not filter my ‘results’ so I’m not sure if I passed any harder white stones.

But the next morning everything changed! (There are a few things that I highly recommend in addition to the info on this page! Please read to the bottom for my tips.)
I felt at peace though still exhausted. My rage was gone. I was kind and patient with my trying family. I could breathe. Even before I began eating again I started doing organization projects that I had shelved and avoided for years. My blockages were just gone. I could handle life again. The color of the atmosphere was like wearing rose colored glasses.
The pain under my ribs was GONE. My feeling of distention was gone. My back pain much relieved.
Over the next few weeks I continued to feel great and I pushed my fat intake with no aches or pains! And no gall attacks.
Into the second month these benefits started to fade and I planned my second flush. Same results! Cleaned my basement and redesigned my website.
Third flush. Did my business taxes on the day after the flush. 🙂

*Do I think the green stones are gallstones? Not really sure. Kinda doubt it.
I do not believe that the experiment the Lancet sites to disprove the green gall stones is scientifically conclusive. It is one experiment that does not adequately reproduce our biology and it was not reliably reproduced. I’m also not fully convinced that the ‘stones’ aren’t soap…
In my research, which included reading thousands of testimonials, as well as articles and the book The Amazing Gallbladder and Liver Flush and doing my own flushes; I have come to believe the green stones are actually liver stones. There are pictures in Morritz’s book of a dissected liver with these ‘stones’ throughout it. They are not viewable in an ultrasound due to their softer makeup. But they do interfere with the healthy function of GB and liver. Also the reason so many people who have gb removed continue to have the same symptoms. The reason it is recommended to continue flushing is because stones higher in the liver ducts settle down into the larger liver bile duct after it is cleared of the closest stones.
Either way; I don’t care! My life is changed and I haven’t felt better in many years. I am no longer angry and bitter, but the happy kind person I used to be. I eat normally and do binge on healthy fatty foods somewhat regularly without any problems.

*Tips/ Things I did as well as the flush in this article that I feel really helped my process.
            1) Read Moritz’s book. He’s a bit wacky, but he goes into lots of detail on the right diet leading up to and following the flush as well as ways to alleviate common difficulties. (Aloe for nausea!)
            2) Colon cleansing before and after the flush. As recommended by Morritz. It makes way for the flush which is essential for the flush to work at all and prevents complications including feeling sick during or after the flush.
            3) I had the guidance of a Naturopath/Accupuncturist. Accupuncture helped me quite a bit with symptoms before I started the flush and I went back after the third flush when I was suddenly having aches again and she balanced my GB/Liver energies and back to being completely symptom free.
She also gave me some Chinese herbs to support my systems. But the number one thing she gave me was Glycine.
            4) Glycine! It is an amino acid and it calms smooth muscle contraction. (AKA Comin bile duct spamming and pain). It works similar to magnesium but without the loose stools. I did feel each flush as though some debris was still in my duct or that the duct was just a bit tender. The Glycine settled this down quickly. 1-500mg capsule every 20 min until symptoms ease, up to 5 doses. I never needed more than 2 doses. I also used it prior to my first flush when I would have GB aches and believe it fended off a couple of oncoming attacks. This glycine has been my safety net.

            * While I suspect that I haven’t I fact expelled true gallstones, I do plan on undergoing another ultrasound to see if anything has changed. I definitely plan to keep my GB nonetheless as I have the pain and associated symptoms under control. I also have my emergency medical chest of supplements so that I feel confident living and even traveling without fear.
I will update this with my results if anyone is interested.

Best of luck to you on your journey!
            In Health,

          • If the green stones came from the olive oil and epsom salts, then people who take substances other than olive oil and epsom salts to liver flush would not pass the same green stones. This has been debated all over the internet and I think there are sufficient positive testimonials to indicate that the liver flush helps many people by allowing them to release stones.

If people take apple juice or malic acid, then their stones will soften prior to passing and likely won’t be the same hardness as someone who had the stones removed by surgery.

          • Hi Jenny , I did about 11 cleanses over a year before I stopped getting stopped stones–big or flax seed size . This procedure gives GREAT relief! If you have a problem it’s worth trying before you let them take an organ out of your body. The body is complex and each organ does so many things;doctors have yet to discover all the synergy between them all and benefit to each one. Keep it if you can!

          • Hi Jenny,
I asked the same question to Global Healing Centre, as I’m wary of purported fixes on the cheap. Here’s their reply verbatim with just the end bit chopped off that was talking to me personally. I suggest all go and check these figures, seems to make a lot of sense to me. Bear in mind people pass different types of stones, their densities will vary with composition. Some will float, some will sink.

Best wishes to all. I will be doing my first flush in the coming weeks.

“For Olive oil to saponify into a solid as you have mentioned you have to have an extremely alkaline environment.

Olive oil has a lye SAP value of 135.3, this means it takes 135.3 mg of LYE to saponify 1 gram of olive oil. lye, also known as sodium hydroxide, is extremly alkaline — very dangerous and caustic substance. To saponify 8 ounces of oil it takes almost an ounce, or half a shot glass of lye.

Stomach acid is not alkaline, so we aren’t getting any magical sodium hydroxide or lye from stomach acid. The most alkaline substance in the body is bile… bile has a ph of 7.5 – 8.8. People doing Liver Flushes have impaired or even no bile flow. some people have done liver flushes while jaundiced.

Sodium hydroxide has a ph of 12-14. this is orders of magnitudes more alkaline than bile since ph operates on a logarithmic scale. Sodium hydroxide is 100,000 – 3,000,000 times more alkaline than bile.

Aside from science helping us here, most people that are able to complete the Liver and Gallbladder cleanse find ideal results, and actually feel this difference as they progress.”

      • I had my gall bladder removed- how does this work with only the liver ?

      • The apple juice softens the stones.

      • I am doing the cleanse and this is my second year doing it. I burped and threw up some of the oil from last night. I feel like I should throw up some more. I didn’t feel this way last year. Is this normal?

      • will this clean out the duct if it gets clogged after removal , still having problems & then the appendix was removed & didn’t help a lot.

    • You need to take the malice acid in the apple juice; so yes the apple juice is important. The apple juice softens the stones and makes things easier to pass. The oil is a lubricant and the epsom Salts dilates the vessels allowing the passage of the stones.

Follow the protocol, if you don’t have the stuff then get it before you start. Further you need to repeat the flush every 3 weeks until you have two flushes without passing any stones.

You also need Colonic Irrigation the day before you take the oil and then again the day after you finish the flush.

If you do the slush half heartedly you are at risk of causing more problems.

      • What happens if you don’t do the colonic irrigation? That’s new information to me. I’m curious because it does seem to make sense.

        • In response to the colon irrigation a couple of enemas is fine to get those lingering stones that get trapped in the colon after a liver flush…I would also like to comment I made a new friend in my health food store who was instructed by her doctor she had gallbladder stones which was causing all the pain in her liver and to get surgery ASAP! She opted to look into the natural way of healing did the liver gallbladder flush and had 12 huge stones the size of grapes come out which she took to her doctor in a jar because normally they float because they are fat cholesterol and bile salts. Her doctor’s response in anger and dismay was that she was practicing witchcraft LOL.

          • So glad you could help her and she was looking for natural remedies! I can’t believe how doctors respond! So disappointing!

          • Liann – you made my day! Witchcraft, huh – no, cutting out God-given organs is witchcraft.

          • Doctors can be asses! I had a doctor tell me he didn’t believe in herbs and supplements and to get rid of them all! Screw him! He told me absolutely nothing that would help my health, only to injure it more by getting rid of stuff that I KNOW works, even if he’s too hard headed to get it. Follow your gut, it’s YOUR body!

    • I never did a liver cleanse and I am not sure it I need to do one but this Liver Cleanse is informative and useful. It seems so easy and practical as far as the ingredients. It just seemed odd that the one guy replied that he didn’t have the ingredients. Well, just go out and get them! And, that guy who asked about the water on day 6 – that was a great question.

      • I also have this question in my mind about mixing warm water with the olive oil since I live in the Philippines and lemonades or grapefruits were hard to find.

        • Is the acid thinning the oil,,,, and for taste.

    • just a couple of comments. During the six day of preperation, including the sixth day, everything you put in your body should be room temp. This is because you dont want anymore stress than necessary on your liver and anything cold makes your liver work harder. You should also do a colon cleanse at the beginning of yoursix day flush and on the fifth or sixth day as well. This is to ensure that there is no blockage that would prohibit the stones in your liver and gullbladder from passing through and out of your system.
This is major surgery without actually cutting into your body and should never be done more than 3 weeks to a month apart. You also might have to do this proceedure up to a dozen time to get all of the stones removed from your liver and gullblader.
A good book to read on this subject is the amazing liver and gallbladder flush by andreas moritz

    • Has anyone done this with Hashimotos? also, should I do a colon cleanse before starting this or on the 6th day? Thanks!

      • I’m doing it tonigh and have hashis. Will let you know.

        • How dd it go? I’m doing one as we speak. Laying on my side. Not falling asleep too well.

          • I read that you should take l-ornithine capsules with the first sips of the 10:00 drink. They recommended four capsules, but it would vary according to size or mg. They even said you could take 8 if you suffer from insomnia. I’ve done the cleanse before and it’s helped me, though it’s probably about time to do it again.

      • I have hashimoto’s and just did this last night/this morning. I was a little worried but my health is so bad that I figured, there’s really no way I could get worse than I already am. I can’t eat anything, it used to just be gluten that gave me immediate bloating/swelling/brain fog and it felt like it didn’t digest at all. It was at least two days before those symptoms went away. It’s now not only gluten but almost anything I eat. I feel run-down, exhausted, it’s hard to describe but I almost feel like I’ve been poisoned. I’m weary down to my bones and even my bones ache. And this is despite being completely GMO-free, dye-free, and gluten-free for almost a year now and taking high-quality probiotics several times a day as well as a few other supplements for my health issues. I started to have gallbladder pain a few months ago and went to the doctor who did an ultrasound and recommended removal. The pain wasn’t constant though so I decided to wait it out and see if things improved.

I read about this cleanse and was doubtful, but again, I don’t have much to lose so I decided to give it a try. Yesterday was day 6 and was miserable. I felt like a fool. But this morning, oh wow… I keep running to the bathroom and have passed what the others describe. Tons and tons and tons of them. And the more this goes on, the better I feel. I don’t feel tension, I don’t feel uptight, I don’t feel like my blood pressure is high or my heart is pounding (something I get frequently with hashi’s even though my blood pressure isn’t high), I just feel better. It really does feel like toxins have been removed from my body because that feeling of being poisoned is gone. Yeah, it’s crazy and I don’t understand exactly how it works but if it makes me feel this good, more back to “normal,” then it works for me.

        Give it a try. 🙂

        • NO!

The apple juice is to soften the organs, the Epsom salts is to dialate the brachtes (or holes) in the organs, and the olive oil is to soften the stones within the liver and the bladder. Just follow directions, as outlines above and it will work. I’ve been doing a modified (I take three doses) two smaller than this recipe (one before and one after “the big one”) for about 13 years now, and it works beautifully. Ive eliminated about 350 stones from my liver and some tan sediment from my bladder. It will make you think clearer than you ever have, especially if you adhere to a good, balanced diet and get a goodly amount of exercise. Sincerely,
          Ron Akers

  2. It says don’t drink or eat foods on day 6. Can I drink water?

    • Don’t eat any cholesterol or fats during the day on the day of the cleanse. Don’t eat anything after 2 pm. The Epsom salts will give you diarrhea to clean out your intestines. I haven’t found drinking after 2 to affect the results of the cleanse, however, you must drink during the day. Don’t let yourself get dehydrated. I’ve done over 20 cleanses during the last 4 years. I also haven’t done the apple juice for days ahead of time and it still works. I was scheduled to have my gall bladder out January of 2009 and started the flushes instead. I still have my gall bladder. Sonogram reveals some stones still though, so I continue to flush 3-4 times a year. My liver, which was in very bad shape in ’09 was perfect within a few months of starting the flushes.Good luck with the flushes.

      • Perhaps try 8 flushes straight off ; you shouldn’t stop slushing until such time that when you flush on two consecutive occasions there are no stones evacuated.

      • very encouraged with the comments – i am just going to try the flush out as i am experiencing distendedness, bloating and flatulence for the last two months and is confirmed that i have gall bladder stones

however, coz of “imbalance” issues i can only lay down on my left side – any suggestions, thanks

        • I saw another website that recommended sleeping on your left side, but bringing your right leg up to your chest and staying there for 20 minutes before you fall asleep. I’ve done it on the right and it worked great without the leg up too.

        • In the Morritz flush that I did, he recommended laying on your back with two pillows under your head for 20 min and then moving to your comfortable sleeping position as long as it is not on your stomach. The right side position was actually his second choice position.

      • Thanks for sharing. This brings a lot of comfort.

    • What if I have braces? Can I still flush?

      • Yes you can still do the liver flush if you have braces it is not a problem.

        • It says to eat something like the morning of the flush – however I have been on a juice fast for 2 days. (prune juice, apple juice, distilled water and olive oil). Is it okay to flush from this or do I need to eat something to put pressure on the liver?

  3. Is it safe to do this while pregnant or breastfeeding?

      • I asked the doc, they don’t recommend it. But my trustworthy friend experienced flashing of gall bladder stones. Ill get back to you after I have experienced mine 🙂

        • Because that would be against the medical license they practice under. This is alternative medicine. So they don’t want to be liable.

        • When I had a high risk pregnancy one of the medicines to stop labor was Mag sulfate. (Epsom Salt are magnesium sulfate ) I know it relaxes muscles and was used as one of 2 alternating drugs to stop labor. My concerns are significant as to all the effects it could have on an infant at various stages of development. I know it could.

          • It could what??

    • no way! if u are pregnant this could cause to lose the baby

    • hi, i have done this twice, but in the morning there is no way i could drink any of epsom salt. one tie i threw up in the morning some of the oil coctil, which i thought will not work but it did and took out of me stones even as big as 5 cm, even second time, ok i didnt vomit but but coudt take any epsom salt in the morning as i knew i would vomit, sooooo simply when previous day epsom salt stopped coming out of colon i helped myself with enema and worked well. the only of my problems is always epsom salt. is so horrid for me i wanna vomit everytime i drink it. is there something i could use instead? how about just ordinary salt, how they do shankprakshalana, when they clean body by adding spoon of salt to 2 litres of water, drink it and it all comes ot in colon?

also already the the day of fisrt epsom salt after i have been to the toilet, before i even drank the oil, already came out many small sand like but size of rice stones. what are these stones, could it also be kidney stones?

      • Never heard of rice stones BUT I have heard of parasites looking like rice when they come out.

        • Yes rice is parasites.

      • I am using epsom salt capsules instead of the salt drink, I take them with the same amount of water that the cleanse suggests and I take about 20 capsules each time (i measured the epsom salts and made my own capsules). This might be an option for you.

        Has anyone else tried this?

        • I haven’t tried the capsules but I did read somewhere that it was an option for people who have a hard time drinking the mix. Just be sure to get the same amount of fluid required as if you were doing the mix.
Let me know how it works. I’m getting an ultasound on my gallbladder soon. Depending on results, I may be doing this flush myself. Surgery is an absolute last resort! I want to retain my body organs. lol

          • Hi, I did the flush and used the capsules, it was sooo much easier than trying to get down that awful drink. I did not seem to get stones from what I could see but I did not scoop out any lumps to rinse and check properly. I also used macadamia oil instead of olive, perhaps that was my problem. I will do another one in the new year and be more thorough.

        • How about apple juice with the salt?

        • Thank you for the capsule suggestion; I would really prefer that over drinking the fluid.

          • It was recommended to me to use magnesium citrate in place of Epsom salts

        • I have done this as well since the taste of the salt water is so bad to me. It works great! I also use coconut oil instead of olive oil with great results. Those little green balls still come out without using olive oil! BTW-I’m an RN. I truly believe in exhausting the natural routes, before cutting or drugging yourself. I have a friend, who is also my Internist, and he backs what I do even if he won’t recommend it to patients. They are not allowed to back this kind of treatment thanks to the AMA.

      • Kidney stones don’t come out of your gut! This flush doesn’t affect the kidneys it is purely for the liver/gallbladder. A kidney flush should be done whilst doing the liver flushes.
This really is a simp procedure… doesn’t matter too much about what food you eat or when to stoop eating on the day of the liver flush.
If you don’t lie the taste use a straw and you don’t suffer quite so much, but to be honest once you’ve done the flush a couple of times you just get on with it, grin and bear it and have a few sips of water afterwards to take the taste away. The discomfort is minimal really….come on just ‘wo/man up’ and get on with it.
You should repeat monthly until such time that on two occasions you have no stones at all. It may take up to 12 or more flushes to rid your liver of all those pesky stones.
Having a colonic beforehand helps to remove any old faecal matter and other matter which is in the gut and the colonic afterwards gets rid of any stones which may be left behind. If these are left in the gut they can cause inflammation and further any toxins may be reabsorbed.
My doc had my ‘stones’ tested and they are lipids, and cholesterol and some bile salts. Also these stones will remove toxins and parasites and bacteria etc, so getting rid of them is a great help to the body and liver function.
A great many medical problems may be arrested by performing this cleanse……

      • hi in reply if it could also be kidney stones… No kidney stones come out of the bladder… Not the colon :-)I only wish that I knew about this cleanse when I was pregnant with my 3 daughters. I suffered immensely in the last 6 weeks always the baby pressing up my gallbladder area! And sometimes when you’re really full of stones you are not able to handle the oil. What helps me with the Epson salt is taking apple cider vinegar with and apple juice…Then it goes down quite smoothly:-) As long as you get the Epson salt down your fine.
Peace and good luck and God bless all of us who surge to heal ourselves with fasting prayer and golden knowledge

      • Disodium phosphate can be used instead of Epsom salt.

      • Are you taking FOOD grade epsom salt? Where do you guys find food grade salts anyway?

    • Most medical docs say no. But there are ways if really needed you can do a cleans during the last trimester only. I would only do this under a homeopaths guidance!

    • It is not recommended to do liver flushes while breastfeeding or pregnancy. I wouldn’t try it unless you have done at least 12 liver flushes but even then for pregnant women it can have an effect on the baby.

    • Oh. My. Goodness. NO!! Do NOT do this while pregnant or nursing!!!!

      • I agree! It should wait!! Babies always come first!!

  4. Does this protocol change for someone without a gallbladder?

    • Yes. it would still flush the liver but it would be better to just support the liver instead

      • so what do we need to change, if we dont have a gall said protocal needs to change?

        • I’m not sure the protocol needs to change as the Liver is flushed and if there is no gallbladder that is not a problem I wouldn’t think.

However, if you don’t have a gallbladder its even more important to ensure the liver is clear.

  5. hi, I am having problems with my liver and also I am a 3rd stage colon rectal survivor. I don’t have all of my rectum or colon so everything moves thru faster. should I make any kind od change…… thanks janet

    • the Epsom salts pushes stuff through pretty quickly so I don’t think it would be a problem as intact your not wanting absorption the apple juice, Epsom and oil works locally.

during the flush you will need the loo regularly and things pass like water anyhow.

  6. Can pink himilayan salt be used instead of epsom salt?

    • Himalayan salt is NaCl, it is a different nutrient. Epsome Salt is Mg SO4? not sure if i got that right..anyway, It provides Magnesium, which is what we are using to make the ducts of the liver relax (and the duct from the gallbladder) so that the small stones that are lodged there can easily be pushed out by flush. You need it to make the flush work.

    • The magnesium is what relaxes the muscles, allowing the stones to come out. Just like an epsom salts bath relaxes sore muscles.

      • The magnesium citrate is very good to take instead of the epsom salts. Some practitioners even recommend it, and it actually tastes good… kind of like pop. That’s what I use.

        • yup i am also doing the mag cit lemon 🙂 this is what i am going to use today and tomorrow as i am doing the cleanse as we speak!

  7. Hello,

What is a good recipe for breakfast without fat? I really need to do this cleanse soon. Thanks !

    • porridge oats using water do not add any oil/fat (milk) or sugar. porridge oats give you long acting carbs which you need after having fasted through a long time. It is also gentle on your digestive system.

      • no honey? omg hard to swallow 😛 – what exactly is porridge oats? is there a link to a picture, name brand or something? Anything else we can eat?

  8. I would like to share something that a co-worker of mine shared with me when I first began working with her. I have one huge gall stone I had it confirmed by an ultrasound and was told over 6 years ago that if I didn’t remove it I would die from it. I was telling my friend about my health issue and she gave me this recipe to cleanse my gall bladder out:

1 fresh squeezed Orange or 2 fresh squeezed Lemons
2 Garlic cloves sliced up or minced (you can get the garlic cloves that are already minced up for you at your local grocery store)
1 TBSP of Extra Virgin Olive Oil (it has to be extra virgin olive oil)

You have to drink this on an empty stomach every morning that you wake for at least 2 weeks, longer if you are experiencing some pain in your side from gall stones.

After I did this for the two weeks and stayed away from fast food, greasy fried foods as well as dairy I was symptom free and never had to have my gall bladder removed. I am considering seeing my doctor to see if the gall stone is still there but I hate the doctors and feel that if I have no pain no worries. I still go out and eat fast food and when I think I have even the slightest pain in my side I always use this recipe and the pain always goes away.

I was told by father that my grandmother had the same problem and she did a morning regimen of 1 glass of grapefruit juice for a year and she went back to the doctor and they said that her gall stones were gone.

Here is another tip I learned along the way……I read that cancer cannot live in an alkalized body and that if you have 1 tsp. of baking soda added to an 8 oz glass of water and drink this a half hour before your first meal of the day your on your way to having a healthy balance in your body. It worked for my daughter who always complained of side pain on both sides of her body and she always seems to get UTI’s after doing this for a week all of her pain went away and since then she has never had another out break.

    • I would be careful about drinking baking soda in water every day before meals because it will neutralize stomach acid. Stomach acid is vital for digesting food, getting rid of bacteria and parasites, and activating other digestive enzymes. Lemon juice would be a better choice as it will not neutralize stomach acid like baking soda will, but has an alkalizing effect on the body.

      • Baking soda can affect the acidity in digestion, but 30 min before a meal should be fine for a liquid to pass out of the stomach and not affect the meal. Also, the bicarbonate in baking soda is an essential electrolyte that the kidneys use to do their filtering. It’s very effective for UTIs.

      • I too just did a cleanse and passed many green stones before I had even drank the olive oil mixture. There are definately not green from the oil…it is from bile and they are stones 100%.

  9. Would it be ok to use coconut oil instead of olive oil?

    • I was going to ask the same thing, I think it the taste would be much more tolerable 😛 So whats the answer?

      • Hi, No. Do not use coconut oil in replacement of the olive oil. You can however use Walnut oil which is alot more palatable.

        • Why can’t you use coconut oil?

          • Do NOT use coconut oil! We did it once thinking we could do a candida cleanse with the coconut oil WHILE doing a liver flush. We thought we had such a great idea, but boy, were we wrong!! It turns out that coconut oil hits the liver too quickly and we were all projectile vomiting in the middle of the night. Then, we had such heavy die-off from the yeast that we had lasting symptoms for a couple weeks (bloating, itchy mouths, constipation). You never take that much coconut oil at once. You can build up to 3 TBS for healthy yeast cleansing… but no more.

    • Hi what type of oliver oil, extra virgin or light olive oil?

  10. I had crepes with chicken curry for lunch. Done this cleanse many times before but when we went out for lunch today, I didn’t think no-fat through properly. Let’s hope it works this time!!!

  11. Hi, do you drink water asWell as apple juice if so how much and should it be warm or cold or filtered etc? Thanks

    • This flush has a slight dehydrating effect. It is important to drink water in advance of the flush and then again after the flush to rehydrate you…….

  12. Knowing what you do now about Hashimoto’s, would you still do something like this? I have Hashi’s and am wondering if it would be okay to try. I will ask my doctor first of course.

    • I would ask a doc but if I was having potential gallbladder problems or liver symptoms I’d personally try it before resorting to stronger treatments

      • Hi All fellow people

I am thrilled to find such a simple detox cleanse for the Liver / Gallbladder , I am going to do this starting on monday
Also i wanted to know if I could use the magnesium citrate drink in place of the epsom salt??
        Many Thanks

    • Yes, I have Hashi’s too, but this can only help. I would argue all humans should regularly do this flush, not only does it cleanse your liver and gallbladder but your gut too….and in turn ice these important organs are functioning better then this will have a positive impact on your whole body.

  13. Hi this is very similar to the cleanse I do with great results but instead of laying on my side, the instructions are to lay on your back. Also you can purchase Epsom Salts capsules and must take 16 each instead of 3/4 cup of mixture. Minimum water is drunk. The bowel will empty itself usually before the stones begin coming out. I have a plastic strainer for bathroom purposes that I use to see the stones that flush…! The stones are amazing: green, brown, tan in all sizes. My husband has passed lima bean size ones. It will help to remove bursitis in shoulders, indigestion, and many allergies.

    • Hi Kathy! I was so excited to read that you have done this with capsules!! I really struggle to get down the salt water mixture especially first thing in the morning when I wake up. Soooo not what your body wants to consume first thing lol!
Is it effective for you? I did about 3 or 4 cleanses some years ago but then got pregnant and then was nursing and since then I just cannot bring myself around to doing one because of the thought of the salts!
Would be so glad to try this!
      Thank you!

    • Where do you find the Epsom salts capsules?

    • Jenefe I have been doing liver cleanses for well over twenty years and EVERY time they have only improved my health and eliminated stones that were verified by ultrasound. AND I had a doctor tell me not to do it (the first time I asked about trying it) because he said I would get a stone lodged in a bile duct and I could die. If you understand the procedure and follow it, it is designed to lubricate and open the ducts to allow stones and sludge to cleanse out, allowing the body to heal. Having had a few gal bladder attacks (before I ever did the cleanse) that sent me to the ER I know that pain, yet with each and every cleanse I never had even a twinge of pain. Just needed to share that.

    • I appreciate your concern re: validity of all this….but you need to know that Dr. Stephen Barrett & others of the “Quackwatch” site have been found as imposters and have been delicensed:
      and also:

I have done several of the liver/gall bladder flush recipes through the years with excellent results.
Another site with great info for flush recipes is:

The first one I did back in the 90’s was Dr. William D. Kelley’s (#2 on the site) and “caught” the stones in a metal colander in the toilet. The sizes were from gravel to one large cherry-sized stone….over a cup & a half of stones came out and my husband said “You just saved yourself a surgery!” So I definitely recommend doing a flush…with education first, of course.

      Be blessed!

      • Hi, on the curezone link you posted it says You should have at least 2 hours to slowly walk after you drink the cup with oil-juice mixture, is this what you do? In all of the other ones I have looked at say to lie down immediately. I would love to know which way has given you the best results.

        • No don’t move about. You should lie down immediately after taking the oil and citrus juice standing up. The purpose of lying down is to enable the concoction to flood the gallbladder and liver ducts. If you stand up and walk about the worry would be that the concoction just floods past these ducts and after all that is not helpful to the purpose of the flush.

      • I know this sounds gross – but do u defecate in a bowl and go through it or something to get these stones?

  14. Hi. What a great cleanse. I’m so exhausted n have so many allergies I want to try this. I have no gallbladder. How does the cleanse change? Can u outline instructions for those of us who already have no-gallbladder? Thank-you

    • I have my gallbladder and appendix removed many years ago. Can I still do this cleanse?

      • I don’t see why cholecystectomy of appendicectomy would cause problems, the flush would affect the liver and after all that is what your trying to do; improve liver function.

  15. Hello

When it says to drink 8oz of apple juice every 2-3 hours the last two days, do I have to get up in the middle of the night to drink?

    • No drink the apple juice throughout the daytime.

  16. Unfortunately, I did not discover that my gall bladder issue was probably related to my consumption of grains until many years after its removal. Are there any supplements or particular foods that I should be avoiding due to my not having my gall bladder? As always, thank you for your suggestions, Katie! This website has provided me with a ton of helpful information.

  17. Hi, I am taking capsule omeprazol for my heart burn. Its not very serious but I have a heart burn. Can I take the liver cleansing?

    Than you

    • Heartburn an be due to low levels of gastric acid and therefore replacing gastric acid during meals. Increase the dose of hydrochloric acid (with betaine) by one tablet with each large meal until you feel a hot sensation in the stomach area. At this point pull back by one tablet when eating each large meal and this is your dose with each meal in the future. If you ever feel that hot sensation again then reduce the tablets by one again. Smaller meals always have one less tablet than for larger meals.
      Best of luck.

However, I don’t see why this should be a problem and contraindicative; having a liver flush.

    • If you have heartburn then maybe your stomach acids are out of balance and you should try probiotic capsules. It helps return the acids back to balance and in turn increases overall health.

I have just finished the cleanse, have never used any apple juice before starting and it was much different this time than the previous 2. Previously after 90min of taking the first two glasses of epsom salt I was on/off the toilet for 30min then it stopped. This time I never visited the toilet before the olive oil/lemon mixture and only 4-5 visits next morning after olive oil/lemon drink.

Question: Are gallstones supposed to be soft?
Comments previously said the green pea like stones were gallstones, but I fished out one and found it to be squashable.

      • Yes, they are soft

      • Apple juice softens the ‘stones’. Most stones are cholesterol, fats, bile stones and ‘rubbish’ such as toxins, bacteria, heavy metals, etc…..however, some contain calcium too and these are the ones which are much harder…..calcium after all is added to cement in order to harden the concrete mixture! Not all ‘stones’ produced by this liver flush will have calcium most will be squishy and soft.

        • Just wondering, I cannot stand the taste of apple juice or cider, so is there anything else I can drink instead?

          • I believe citric acid juices would work (other than grapefruit juice).

          • Andreas Moritz says:
Drink one 32-ounce bottle of apple juice or 8-ounce bottle of tart cherry juice each day

We have done our last flush using only organic tart cherry juice instead of the apple juice. We got the same result from the flush as we did when we used apple juice.
For us, the best part was only having to drink 8 oz a day as opposed to 32 oz! And it tastes like cherry pie!

            Good luck!

      • What did you use previously instead of apple juice? I did a cleanse a month ago using apple cider vinager and water. Also my timings were out by 1 hour with one of my Epsom salt drinks. I am convinced I did not pass any stones although I did not attempt to catch them. I thought I would see them as the Andreas Moritz book says that they float. Quite disheartening to do all that prep and not see any results.

  18. Is it 100% necessary to fall asleep after you take the mixture on the sixth day? I read articles and watched videos with people saying that this is a MUST for the procedure to work. And I’ve always had problems with sleeping. I don’t want to take any sleeping pills too, because as I am now, my body can’t handle any more intoxication from meds (took an aspirin a couple of weeks ago and couldn’t stand up from bed for a few days from fatigue – my liver’s really bad).

    • Hi, In the comments above I have just clicked on the cure zone link and it says this: You should have at least 2 hours to slowly walk after you drink the cup with oil-juice mixture.

I have asked the original poster if this is what she does as I would like to do this during the day instead of night, it will be interesting to find out and may help you too.

      • no you need to lie down and lying down for the whole night will help the process…..that is why it is advised to do it last thing at night.

        • lie flat on your back with pillows propping your head up – the head needs to be higher then the body

  19. Hi. In the first 4-5 days, what are acceptable types and amounts of food, if any. Or is it strictly liquids???

    • Yes, I have the same question. I want to start this cleanse today. I have been on a 15 day juice detox. Do we eat during the 4-5 days or is it just all apples and apple juice?

      • Eat normal healthy food and drink mainly water and then in addition to your normal food add the apple juice…..

        • the post says avoid heavy foods including proteins – besides fruits and vegetables which get really boring fast, what else do you people eat since we are supposed to eat LIGHTLY to make it easier for the body to process the foods while ridding stones. I was trying to be on an autoimmune diet, and not really supposed to be eating legumes, eggs, certain foods anyway – but I will if i need to so i don’t feel like I’m starving.

  20. I was wondering where you would find the Epson Salt capsules? I’ve tried the Liver Cleanse and I cannot get that Epson Salt solution down without throwing it up. I live in Canada and no one local sells the capsules.

    • Hi, I had to make my own capsules. It was easy, I bought a capsule maker and empty capsules, added the epsom salt, put them together and voila, epsom salt capsules, much better than that nasty drink lol.

    • Dr Clark Store online.I have used their kidney cleanse material by ordering online too. I was so relieved I didn’t have to drink Epsom Salts!

  21. Epsom salts acts as a purgative and gives me terrible griping and stomach pain plus diarrhea. Any suggestions for an alternative; or at least a way to combat these side effects?

    • If you are experiencing negative side effects from taking epsom salts there are alternatives. The main reason for taking epsom salt for the liver flush is to relax and dilate the bile ducts for a safer liver flushing experience and to allow stones to pass more easily through the bile ducts. Niacin B3 is an alternative to epsom salt, take 100-500 mg of niacin after drinking the olive oil and lemon juice. Another alternative that can be used in conjunction with niacin B3 is the coffee enema. Coffee enemas stimulate the liver to go into detox purge mode as well as dilate the bile ducts, some people release liver stones with the coffee enema by itself. If you are new to enemas it is not all the bad just takes some getting use to. Niacin B3 is nothing more than vitamin B3 and is sold at almost every health food store in the world. You can purchase 100-500 mg tablets, you will only want to buy the flush version and not the no-flush version. If your body is lacking niacin when you take it most likely you will flush red and have itchy skin, this is due to the increase in blood circulation and happens to most people most of the time. Cheers!

    • That is the point of taking epsom salts to make your bowels rush and the liver to push out the stones.

      • No epsom salts don’t cause the liver to push out stones it relaxes and dilates the bile ducts so stones can pass more easily. LOL

  22. I have used pharmaceutical grade Powdered Magnesium Citrate 2TBS in place of the Epsom Salts it is much more gentile for people who are sensitive. I also have EDS so I can not take the malic acid due to it’s decalcification properties work on my teeth and my bones, so I take Chanca Piedra 2 to 3 weeks 2- 3x per day prior to my cleanse. This was when I first started cleansing. I now know when I need to do a cleanse and prepare accordingly with only organic ingredients and The Magnesium Citrate I get from Now Foods.

  23. Chris Pratt, it is interesting that you have EDS. I have POTS and NCS along with adrenal insufficiency. I know many people in the dysautonomia community who have EDS.

Has anyone done this cleanse who also has an autonomic disorder? I had this suggested to me for my liver issues ajd am thinking about doing it but since my nervous system is so sensitive, I wonder how my body will react to it.

  24. I’ve been having alot of problems with my stomach,I’m getting ready to do a cleanse, wish me luck i need this to work so bad the pain in my side is so bad at times its almost unbearable and they keep telling me nothing is wrong. Well I’m here to tell ya I’m the one feeling the pain and other things as well so something is wrong with my stomach! So I’m so glad I came acrossed your web site,I am so thankful to know that there is something I can do myself and the cleanse I feel is just the thing I need so thank you wellness mama,I’m grateful, mel

  25. what if i cant sleep? i have insomnia. i always have anxiety and tense when doing something ‘weird’ to my body for the first time. im really scared. but im soo wanting to heal. and from my experience, none of these sleeping pills can help me, melatonin, gaba, htp, valerian, etc.

  26. im in hell and have been drinking apple juice for only 3 days and i’m gong for it i cant take it anymore, i dont have health care till monday and i cant go thru another week of work like this. wish me luck. no gallbladder either, should be fun. i’m not wasting my money at the ER or Urgent Care. i’m sure i have a few sitting in my ducts right now, no matter what i eat i hurt.

  27. Wellness Mama, you might want to add to the article that it is important to do enemas or colonics before and after each liver cleanse to ensure that the stones can pass freely through the GI tract. I have done several liver cleanses and even after doing several enemas after each cleanse, I have found stone still being expelled days later. I also use magnesium citrate instead of epsom salts. It’s also a good idea to take niacin before you consume the oil and juice to further relax and open the bile ducts. Another idea to help soften the stones is to do a castor oil pack over your liver on the days leading up to the flush. You can release stones with castor oil packs or coffee enemas alone, which can be used in conjunction with the oil and juice cleanse. Just know that the acidic coffee can kill off some good bacteria in the gut so it’s important to replenish if you choose to try this. A raw food diet leading up to the flush is the best way to prepare for cleansing.

    • how many magnesium pills do you take instead of salts?

  28. I have been told that I have a fatty liver and Hep C so I really need to nurture my Liver.
I was really thirsty 2 weeks ago and drank 2 litres of Apple Juice an a matter of 48 hours.
I had diahrrea for almost 4 days. Was it from the apple juice?

  29. Wow! It’s amazing to see Dr Hulda Clark’s time-tested cleanse here, on your site, Bravo!

I’ve done this cleanse 1-2 times per year for the previous 10 years without any negative side effects, aside from the difficulties than can arise from ANY Cleanse process. For example the first 2 times I cleansed I experienced severe body pains, nausea plus terrible headaches and did not sleep at all! Thankfully however these symptoms did not continue into any future cleanses, perhaps it’s because I’ve personally passed approximately 5000, yes that’s correct Five Thousand, bright green (newest) to reddish brown (oldest) coloured ‘stones.’

The recipe is time-tested as I mentioned earlier therefore I’d recommend that it NOT BE ALTERED-at all! I’ve always followed it to the letter and had excellent results. In fact, I no longer pass stones but continue to cleanse at least once per year. Just recently I’ve tried the 10 day Master Cleanse and will probably incorporate it as a yearly, bi-yearly cleanse too.

It’s critical to know what you are getting into before hand, meaning, do your own research first. This cleanse is definitely NOT for Everyone.
If you have not done any prior cleansing or have questionable eating/living habits then this experience will be difficult at first but I urge you to persevere because reclaiming your health is your responsibility and it starts with one healthy habit at a time.

Good Luck to Everyone & Anyone who has the courage & drive to Be Well;-)

    • I had nausea after taking the oil. Threw up a little at a time, all night long. When you were nauseous on the cleanse, dd you continue or quit? Unsure how to calm my stomach when this happens.

      • Nausea and vomiting are typically happening to people for three main reasons,

        1) Lack of preparation leading to the flush this includes over eating before the flush, not staying on a 100% raw food diet, not drinking liver stones dissolving drinks leading to the flush.

        2) Not being able to digest the olive oil. some people do not digest oil very well if you are one of these people I recommend taking digestive enzymes (6-8 caps) when consuming the oil this will help your body to digest it.

        3) Drinking the oil to fast, the stomach can only release a small amount of oil at a time. Drinking the oil to fast can put pressure on the stomach causing you to vomit.

        I LIVER YOU

  30. Can you do this cleanse while lactating? I have a 6 month old and recently started having gall bladder attacks.

    • Go to bed as described and put your earphones n with something that you relax to and listen to that its likely you will naturally fall asleep….but don’t worry its not terrifying……and you get the reward of seeing the stones.

  31. Hi! I am about to attempt this liver cleanse and am planning on doing the malic acid supplements instead of eating apples or juice (trying to watch my carbs right now and I don’t really love apple juice)…about how much malic acid per day, for each day do you think? Like instead of drinking 8oz. every 2-3 hours, etc.

    Thanks so much!

    • Another site says sour cherry juice works, I’m guessing diluted in water

  32. I have had serious skin issues on my hands. The doctor said it was severe eczema that was borderline psoriasis. Because it was on my hands it was VERY difficult to take care of my children. It was so painful! I did a master cleanse to lose weight and noticed that my skin improved somewhat. So after years of trying to figure it out I discovered that the liver cleanse was what my skin needed. I did regular colonics along with 9 liver cleanses in a year. That is drastic, I know, but my hands were finally back to normal after it all! I passed SO many stones! I have been working on how to eat healthier foods and that keeps my skin under control. I will continue to do a liver cleanse one or two times a year for the rest of my life! Your liver is what holds all the toxins. Even if you eat healthy, in today’s world, you are still breathing in toxins that are just in the air! This also helps some people with energy.

  33. Hi Folks,

I’ve had GB issues now for over a year, Constant dull pain, Bleching constantly, 12 months ago I had 3 attacks that I thought would kill me, I’m assuming I was passing stones….

I’m going to try this cleanse ,wish me luck.

    Male: 49

    • Good luck, Tom. I had severe GB attacks in 2011 and was told I had to have surgery right away. Instead, I chose to flush, and have never had another attack. I am doing my 16th flush today, just for maintenance, and I still have my gallbladder! Just follow directions, stick with it, and it will work.

    • How did your liver flush go?

  34. I do liver cleansing regularly, and my biggest problem is drinking olive oil.
I can hardly drink 2/3 of the required amount.
Would encapsulated olive oil be an alternative to the traditional recipe of oil-juice mix?

    • Have you tried drinking the oil mix through a straw, This is how I do it and it is so easy, no gagging at all.

    • The first time I did the cleanse (in 1984!) I did not have a blender. No matter how much I shook the container the lemon juice and olive oil wouldn’t mix so I had to drink a half cup of each. Yuck!. After drinking that much olive oil straight, I couldn’t bear the taste of olive oil for years. Since then I have made the mix in the blender like a salad dressing, with a bit of garlic (some of the flush recipes include garlic anyway) and if I have it, basil, which is a liver herb as well and makes the brew taste like pesto. Yum. The only thing I don’t know that I would use is salt, or much of it as I’d be concerned it might caused the ducts to contract a bit. Doing it this way makes it much easier to get the olive oil down.

I’m on a flush today, wish me health!

  35. Does the apple juice need to be organic?

    • preferably yes it does. Organic foods…include apple juice are less likely to have multiple chemicals in which put additional stresses on the liver.

  36. It probably should be. Most supermarkets will have organic apple juice for a relatively cheap price.

  37. I shorten my liver flushes to less than 12 hours. I stop eating at noon, start drinking the Epsom salts water at 6pm. I drink 8 oz every 30 minutes for 2 hours. By 10pm-11pm, I’m busy flushing out the colon. Around 11pm when the colon has finished flushing, I drink the olive oil fresh grapefruit juice mixture. After that, I would immediately lie down on my right side and sleep. In the morning, I get up and drink 8 oz of Epsom salts water for 2 hours. I spend the morning in the bathroom until around noon time.
The first time I did this, I flushed out thousands of little green balls. It was pretty cool, I try it two more flushes every two weeks. Each flush produced less little green balls and they were not as condensed in size. In the beginning they were very green and pea size, in the last flush there was only about 50-100 mostly brown fluffy looking marble size thingy.
After 3 years, I tried it again. Not that many little thingys. I was in my 50s when I did my first flush. I would think that the body accumulate these little fatty balls over time and they collect their green color from the bile. I will wait 5 years before doing another flush.

  38. Sounds like you have done well! Andreas Moritz, who wrote the book on this, recommends once a year doing the Amazing Liver and Gallbladder Flush, once the initial series of flushes is clear. Good luck!
It’s so beneficial for the whole body, and it’s my experience that it’s a good plan. (I did twelve flushes over 8 months to get completely clear of stones). Now, just maintenance, IMHO five years may be too long for most people, that is why I’m posting what the doctor recommends.

  39. Dr Hulda Clarks book the cure for all Cancers had this and other cleanses for specific organs. She was a genius. However she gave the credit for this cleanse to doctor from the 19th century! She quoted their olive oil and grapefruit juice drink they used for people with gallstones before it was common to have surgery! She then added the epsom salts and other things. So before modern medicine when they decided you did not need body parts or it was more profitable to remove them? This is what they did. My family quit eating pork and all the other meats the Bible said not to as they were “unclean” the Dr Clark said carry the parasite eggs. The Bible said don’t eat them and you would not have the diseases of the people of the Nations that live around you. All those “laws” in the Torah are health instructions! Read them again and know that ashes and fat make soap to wash away germs, they take on a new meaning. Just now catching up with the knowledge. My husband had very high cholestrol in his blood Dr Clark said that was because of these stones blocking the way out the colon and it backs up into the bloodstream. After the cleanse his cholesterol dropped to where they stopped trying to get him to take Statins (if you take those look into the actual studies they bring your numbers down but shorten your life). I had gallstones and after sonogram they wanted to remove I did this cleanse and it sounded like pebbles hitting porcelain? Calcified stones many years later I still have my body parts now past 50.

I am tempted to try just the grapefruit juice and olive oil and see what happens? After the Epsom salt which I can barely choke down, will try the capsules, the oil mix is delicious!(yuck)

    • The epsom salt capsules are heaps easier to take and an option for the oil mix is to drink it with a large straw, I managed to get it all down with no gagging at all.

    • I have just done the cleanse without Epsom salts and it worked fine

      • So can you tell me what steps you took while doing the cleanse.

        • Hi Kirsty

Yes I drank Apple juice for two days. The previous week I had increased the amount of apples I was eating too. On the day of the flush I decided it was easier to fast although I ate one Apple and also had two cups of tea in the morning . At 10.00 at night I drank 200ml of cold pressed olive oil and pretty much the same amount of freshly squeezed lemons. I just held my nose and drank it down quite quickly. Then lay on my right side for over an hour to make sure and then swapped to lying on my back and kept alternating between the two. In the middle of the night I felt nauseous and did wretch a little but nothing came up. My night sleep was quite disturbed and I felt so tired I had to stay in bed. When I went to the toilet it was more to rid previous day’s meal but in the evening and after I’d managed to drink quite a lot of water the stones started to appear. There were lots of bigger green some smaller brown and lots of bits of green slivers and brown and whiter grit. I was gob smacked that I had been walking around with these in my liver for so long it’s no wonder I felt unwell. I said afterward I wouldn’t do it again but I think I would if there is a positive result from this. My gall bladder is a bit grumbly and tender like others have said. I think if I had fasted or eaten more cleansing foods on previous day’s the process would have been quicker but it worked all the same. I can’t believe that these green stones could be a byproduct of a sudden oil and lemon. I actually felt at about 2 in the morning the bile ducts open and start to release.

  40. Hi there. Doing day six of the cleanse today. A little nervous. Anyways, was wondering if breakfast is the ONLY meal you get eat on day six. It appears so but I just want to confirm.
Thanks for all you do on the site.

  41. Hi,
Can you use rice bran oil? Will it have the same effect as olive oil?

    • HI, I’ve been reading through your responses and it seems that you have done many cleanses!

I am looking for an alternative. I don’t know if I have any stones but I am considering a gentle liver cleanse using essential oils. i have already found the oils and think they will work. I started ready this and was thinking if I could jump start my cleanse by doing a modified version.
I don’t like apple juice…actually i don’t drink any juice so what is malic acid or what else can i use?
I could drink lemon and olive oil but the epsom salt drink scares me.
So would it work if I just did the –
      -5 days of ACV shots,
-1 scheduled day epsom salt pills (1)how does the being epsom salt mix having to be cold affect the effectiveness? (2) how many pills do i need in the day
-Then lemon and olive oil drink?

Would this modified still work? If not what can i change or what is the most important step?

      • I would say no….stick to the instructions but take malice acid if you can’t do apple juice. Don’t be scared of epsom salts but do stay near the house for 12 hrs overnight from first dose as it tends to hurry the bowels!

  42. Hello can I pls use extra olive oil and also can I eat apples instead of the apple juice for the last 2 days..

    • You will want to be on a liquid diet the day of the flush and very light foods 3-4 days leading to the flush. Apple cider vinegar shots is a great alternative to apple juice.

      • Jordan, how much ACV to replace apple juice?

        • I know you directed your question to Jordan about “shots” of ACV, but believe me, you don’t want to drink undiluted Apple Cider Vinegar. Bad for your teeth and it will burn your esophagus. You take 1 Tbsp. in no less than 6 ounces of water. I read this everywhere, in all kinds of older health books I have, and some newer ones, too.

As to the quantity, I guess Jordan can help you there, OR Andreas Moritz says in his book:

1-2 Tablespoons in a glass of water 4X per day, for 6 days.

That is, you put the 1-2 Tablespoons in 8 oz. of water, so the total water for each day is 32 oz.

        • 2 oz of ACV 3 times per day diluted in a glass of water.

  43. I am 46 years old and did a cleanse the summer if 2014 for the first time. I did not use this recipe, but it was similar.

    I passed 280 stones. Anywhere from very tiny to 1/2″ x 3/4″!!!

I will be doing another cleanse in a couple of days.

    • I did a second cleanse 2 weeks ago. I passed 95 more stones. Most of these were under 1/4″ only 6 were larger.

I do feel much better. I plan on doing another cleanse in about 2 months.

  44. Did my first flush yesterday and I must admit, the taste of the Epsom salt was horrible!!! I would rather go thru childbirth again than to drink that stuff. I thought that maybe people were exaggerating about the taste, but believe me! Take the capsules. I will go this route on my next flush. I did olive oil and lemonade per another recipe I saw and it went down great! I will be doing this again next month, Hopefully my husband will too!

    • Hi. How do you do the olive oil and lemonade drink? Thanks

  45. Hi and thanks for all the great info. I pray someone gets this in the next few hours! LOL I started the epson salt portion today and have one client early in the morning tomorrow. I’m trying to decide if I should simply make her appointment later in the day, or reschedule her altogether. Suggestions?
    Thanks so much!!

    • don’t have an appointment before at least 1pm the next day.

  46. I have done about 27 liver/gallbladder flushes and I’m still releasing stones! If I stop drinking coffee and eating animal products, will I get them out faster???

    • Have you not read any of the experiences shared here? Just thought you’d add some lies to dissuade people from feeling good eh?

      • Agreed Jasper… some people just like to remain skeptics! Comments like these delayed me trying the cleanse for about 2 months, when I desperately needed to get rid of gall stones that were causing me a lot of pain. It did however get me to research carefully before I committed to the cleanse, and really made me follow the protocol to the letter! My cleanse was very successful, and my pain was gone completely in two days. This cleanse is AMAZING and delivers exactly what it promises… BUT, it does need to be followed exactly, to the minute… Good health!

  47. So not having a gallbladder is this a beneficial cleanse?

  48. can i do this flush 12days straight?

    • Yes you can do the liver flush for 12 straight days but it is not recommended, it is better to do 3 or 4 straight days of liver flushing then wait a month and do another 3 or 4 and so on. The liver needs time to adjust to the new room in their and to the new vibrations of health. I have personally done 4 straight days over 3 times and had great results.

  49. My fiance and I no longer have our gallbladders. Can we still do this cleanse and it have a cleansing effect on our livers?

    • Yes doing the liver flush without a gallbladder is still beneficial to the liver and it still highly recommended. The liver typically produces the stones and then dumps them into the gallbladder. If you gallbladder was removed it is even more imperative that you do the liver flush and get rid of the stones. The liver produces bile and the gallbladder stores and concentrates it up to ten times its strength. The function of the gallbladder is to secret bile for the proper absorption and assimilation of nutrients in the intestines. Without a gallbladder bile is constantly being excreted by the liver and runs like a tap that never turns off. Some problems you may face with out a gallbladder is digestive problems and possible auto immune dis-functions. By doing a liver flush and flushing out toxic stones your liver will be able to produce more bile on demand and help treat the associated conditions of not having a gallbladder. Cheers!

  50. I have done this cleanse 7 times and I have helped support over a dozen people do it. I still have people coming to me and asking me for advice.

    A couple of tips I would add ;

    1) Follow this protocol to a tee and do not deviate.
    2) Switch to a vegetarian/vegan diet the first 5 days and avoid alcohol, coffee, and stimulates.
    3) Do enemas to get colon cleaned out, and make sure you are pooping clear on the day of the cleanse.
    4) Follow up after the cleanse with an acupuncture treatment IF you are feeling a little run down- the cleanse is hard on the liver and a treatment helps.
    5) Make sure you wait at least 2 months before doing it a 2nd time, again its hard on the liver and your liver needs time to recoop.

This cleanse works great, its simple, easy and inexpensive. Only ever ran into one issue with a friend who did it and she was a serious alcoholic- What happened was the day after the cleanse her belly swelled up like she was 9 months prego. It didn’t last and later that day she passed stones. That’s it, really simple, highly effective and very safe. Email me if you have questions…

    Cheers to healthy livers!

    Elle Abbott

    • Hi Ellie,
So happy to see someone like you so experienced and knowledgeable on health …. I’ve got a comment… I myself think it’s not as hard on the liver as one might think unless like your alcoholic friend AS I do have a couple myself that believe they have NO stones and nothing is wrong with their livers?(which by the way amazes me) I think doing the flush once a month is a good break in between and it does help to do it on a full moon. I also like adding garlic to the grapefruit olive oil mix. I do not understand how people think it is so ghastly and awful tasting. My daughter and I both think it’s quite tasty but perhaps it’s the ones that are not very health orientated and just decide to do it anyway. A parasitical cleanse along with the flush is a very important issue. Because many of us do have liver fluke worms as other parasites! I have walked many friends through parasitical cleanses and have a delicious pate I came up with I will share with you all. If you’ve ever had a cat or a dog walked outside barefoot or eatin sushi…good chance you probably have caught a parasite somewhere along the way? The same friends that do not feel they need a cleanse but continue to drink their alcohol every evening also say they bet they have No parasites. Here is the Pesto Patte Recipe. I eat it plain or with rice cakes.
3/4 cups pumpkin seeds ground in a coffee grinder. 1/4 cup of olive oil. A large handful of fresh washed CILANTRO.. Apple cider vinegar 1/4 cup…add a squirt of Bragg’s Liquid Aminos.. Dasha turmeric Cumino black pepper & 5-6 GARLIC CLOVES & dash chili powder for those who like it spicier!. After you have ground up your pumpkin seeds throw everything in the blender and blend…if it’s too thick stop and stir & Add a few drops of water… ALL. that have tried my recipe especially along with the Cleanse have passed parasites. Pictures are great!.
PS I do need to add sometimes you will experience a little cramping as the little varmint parasites are letting go of your colon wall. “Happy Healthy Harmony”

  51. I plan on doing the flush in 2 days time – Sunday 2 feb 15. I started the apple juice last night and will continue drinking it. Was just wondering if it is imperative to do the apple juice for as long as 5 days? Will it affect the cleanse or do you think only 2 days worth of apple juice is enough? ??

    • I drank the apple juice for two days only and it worked

  52. Can you please comment on the substitution of using Orthophosphoric Acid (75%) taking 30 drops (tincture) a day for 3-4 days, and gradually increasing the dosage to 50 drops daily for another 10 days, instead of drinking the apple juice?

  53. Can I still drink the last dose of Epsom salt if I already eat breakfast ( juice and bread) after third dose of Epsom salt? Will the cleansing still working?

  54. Assuming it’s OK to mix the epsom salts in with hot water so it’s not gritty? Thanks

  55. opps..i m doing it…lets see what happens..

  56. I am going to do the cleanse, after experiencing the worst pain in my life for over 9 hours – and I gave birth with back labor for over 36 hours.
I am a gagger, so I thought I would put the epsom salts in capsules, but would taking Disodium Phosphate Capsules be better? I want to make sure everything stays down. Also, I read somewhere that you should take a tincture of black walnut or milk thistle a week before you start the cleanse. What do you say about that? Thanks very much.

  57. Hi everyone….I was told over 2 yrs ago that my ejection fraction On my gallbladder was low and that I should remove it. I have been having off and on pain, bloating, burping, etc. all this time. I have opted not to remove it because I want to try and restore it if possible. According to several ultrasounds they say I have no stones. Thankfully I found a homeopathic doc who agrees w me and doesn’t think I need to take it ouT. She suggested I do a flush.

I just did it for the first time yesterday into today. I did find quite a few things that resembled stones but they were not hard. If I squeezed them they would break apart….almost like clumps of hard wet sand. is that considered a “stone” or does it have to be hard like an actual stone?

Also I did ser several bright green looking “stones”…..what exactly are these?

Thanks so much guys for the help!!

    • Those aren’t stones.

They are “green “stones” resulted from the action of gastric lipases on the simple and mixed triacylglycerols that make up olive oil, yielding long chain carboxylic acids (mainly oleic acid). This process was followed by saponification into large insoluble micelles of potassium carboxylates (lemon juice contains a high concentration of potassium) or “soap stones”.

      • Good for you Wendy… stick to your guns and hold on to that vital organ of yours! I would be very interested to hear how you are doing after your flush…

      • Bobby, I went to the lancet article that you posted above, and was very interested to read what it had to say about the green “stones”. I certainly don’t intend to argue with them about what they are, but what ever they are, once they have been expelled after a liver/gall bladder flush, the pain goes away and the person feels amazing as a result of the procedure! The proof is in the pudding, as the old saying goes!

After a severe case of food poisoning a month and a half ago, the right side of my rib cage became very tender to the touch, and got progressively worse until it was affecting the whole right side of my back and shoulder. As a result of a thorough search on the internet, I was certain the pain was coming from my liver/gall bladder. I came across this natural remedy, and was hesitant to try it because of all the negative comments about how dangerous it could be if the cleanse went awry and a stone got stuck in the duct. However, after reading so many people’s personal success stories, I thought I would go ahead and try it for myself.

Well, I am happy to report that I did the flush two days ago, and lo and behold, I am now officially pain free on my right side, after having expelled hundreds of those little green “stones”!! So whatever they are, or whatever they are made up of, the flush did the trick, without any complications whatsoever… I will definitely do it again in two weeks time, and continue to do so until the stones decrease and stop altogether.

Thanks to sites like this, and the people who take the time to share their personal success stories, we are taking back control of our bodies and our health, and holding on to our precious organs, because that is what they are, precious… not disposable!

        Yours in good health,

        • I agree completely Joy! Thank you for your posting. I too experienced all the same and now pain free.. oooh happy day.

          • Thanks for the encouragement, Tina… so pleased to hear that your cleanse was also successful! I am planning to do another one soon… Joy

      • For Olive oil to saponify into a solid as you have mentioned you have to have an extremely alkaline environment.

Aside from science helping us here, most people that are able to complete the Liver and Gallbladder cleanse find ideal results, and actually feel this difference as they progress.

        • I think table salt is 14 on the alkablinity scale, so after reading your post I’m wondering about the epsom salt. Maybe olive oil is hardening around epsom salt granules?

  58. Is it absolutely necessary to do the colonics before/after the flush? I cannot afford to do that right now, but I’d still like to flush as I’m having some mild pain, and I’m 99% sure it’s gallbladder. What’s the worst that could happen?

    • In my opinion the colonics are not necessary. I have done this fluch twice before and have never done the colonics beforehand. I suppose if you did the colonics you may get a better result but I am not sure. Go with your gut feeling. Oh and I made up epsom salt capsules as the salty water is disgusting lol

    • Coffee enemas are an affordable and helpful alternative

    • Instead of a colonic you can simply do a water or coffee enema. Another alternative is taking a oxygenating cleanser like Colosan the night before. Honestly in my opinion an enema is the most effective and easiest thing to do. Use filtered water heated to a couple degrees above body temp, about 100F.

  59. Just wanted to say I did this cleanse twice this past year through recommendation of NP. I didn’t use the apple juice but sea salt, epsom the olive oil and lemon juice. It is pretty intense. The second times not as many gallstone passed and I was able to eat normally that day. The first time I had flu-like symptoms I was so toxic and passed many gallstones!

    • Do u eat normal food in the apple juice phase or are u not eating for 5 days? Can u just skip the apple juice and go to the last 2 days?

  60. hello every body ;

during last one year , i had 3 liver flush , only the first one was successful , even was my first but I was quiet shocked but happy with result but I am very upset that the last two I have done even I was more concise and collect more data , and try to do the best , but unfortunately I even didnot see any bile , green stuff or stone at all … Do you think that is normal or has possibility which my liver just got clean in first time ? or some things is wrong ? after my second liver flush experience i faced very bad skin condition …

P.S. I am not smoker or drinker , does it mean my liver was already in good condition and have no more job to do ? which is I am happy

  61. Can you drink water after 2PM? I know it says not to eat/drink. But is water ok? Thanks!

    • Yes, you are able to drink water, it is important to stay hydrated.

  62. Hi everyone, I tried this method last 2 weeks ago and I released some green stuffs on the toilet. I tried to have an ultrasound check up and the result shows that I have a 2cm. gallstone in my gallbladder. Can continuing this method release my remaining 2cm gallstone ?

    • Only calcified stones show up on ultrasound technology, there is a good chance you have thousands of non-calcified stones in the liver and gallbladder. Continue flushing until you stop getting stones for at least 3-5 consecutive flushes.

  63. Thanks for posting this! I’m confused about the Epsom salts.
    3/4 and then 3/4 and then a third of 3/4 ?
I’m not a math genius, but this doesn’t seem right.
    Do you mean 1/4?

    • 3/4 is correct. You drink 3/4cup 4 times. Day 1) 6pm & 8pm. Day 2) After 6am & 2hr later.
      (3/4) x 4 is the same as (3/4) x (4/1) = 3cups.

  64. hi, you said drink or eat lots of apples/apple juice 5 days before.
i just want to clarify, do i eat normally and supplement with apples or just doing all apple diet for 5 days?
also, i have always had digestion problems & constipation all my life – would it be safe for me to do this cleanse?

  65. I’m confused. This website said 4 TABLEspoons of Epsom Salt.. And another website said 4 TEAspoons of Epsom salt. Which one is right?

    Thank you for any answers.

    • 4 tbsp is the maximum amount of epsom salt you would want to use and 4 tsp is the minimum amount of epsom salt you would want to use. Hope this helps!

  66. is it ok if i use the darker olive oil and not the light one as recommended coz my mother has plenty of stock of that darker olive oil. can i also perform this liver flush every two weeks?? hope someone will answer my questions. sorry for my english.

  67. Ok… my natural doctor person said do this cleanse one weekend and then skip a weekend and do it again to get the “leftovers” that have moved down. It is a shortened version of this cleanse. She says once the liver is clearer then I can absorb vitamins more, healthy food and balance hormones, get rid of disease causing stuff etc. Is this true in your opinions?

  68. This is the third time I’ve done a flush and the third time pretty much nothibg happened. The first was my fault.. I ate some flax seeds the night before and probably ruined the bile pressure… That was a few years ago. This time (today) and last time (last month) I followed all the directions but just got a couple of “stones,” and thats it. This time the oil made me feel super sick in the morning and I threw a little up and am burping it (gross!). I don’t have any liver/galbladder problems that I know of… Just figured I could use this. Wondering why I get no results?

    • Not getting stones harvest results is usually due to a lack of preparation going into the flush or eating something to close to the flush. It is not uncommon to have a few fluses that do not produce stones then soon after a whole bunch of stones come out. The stones can be lodged together in the liver, gallbladder and bile ducts and have a hard time coming out. Cheers! I LIVER YOU

  69. What else can you eat for the 4-5 days while consuming apples and apples juice?

  70. Thank you much for this website, couple of days ago I had a gallbladder attack, was in pain all day, reading online had no clue what to do, was at the point of crying or emergency room. Read how Apple juice could stop the pain, went and juiced apples downed it, it worked. Was still swollen and indigestion, read about the flush, yes the salt water even with Apple juice which is how I took it was awful I did the 6/8pm salt Apple juice, at 9:30pm had bm best ever in my life. At 10pm had the olive oil n lemon and rushed to bed on right side with legs up at chest as high as I could. Had indigestion bad and it burned, just grinned and bear it. Rested pretty well, up at 6:30am took salt Apple juice, then at 8:30am again salt Apple juice, around 8:45am first morning bathroom bm had about 21 stones come out, some gravel, some pea size and some pecan half size about 4, oooh yeah get out of my body. 2nd bm about 9 more stones, 1 larger. Stomach still rumbling. thank you again for this information, I feel so much better. Going to do this once every couple of months. Hugs

  71. I did the flush last night after the morning after regimen and several watery green yellow BMs what do I expect next? When do I see the stones? Thanks!

    • If you did the 6/8pm Epson salt and at 10pm drank the olive oil, then this morning you should have drank 2 more Epson salt 2 hours apart, this is when the stones come out. hope you feel better.

  72. Hi, I have read a lot about the natural cleansing of gallbladder in different websites and I find this one very helpful because I also have few gallstones, but it gives me mild pain sometimes, especially after eating. But right now I am still skeptical and hesitant if I should try this procedure (apple juice, epsom salt, olive oil and lemon).. Guys, is this really true? I know it’s natural so it won’t cost that much and won’t hurt my liver but of course I want to make sure if this really works 100%, or should I try using what my doctor prescribed me called Ursofalk? Please help. Thank you very much. 🙂

    • Yes this does work! Not here to convince you, it’s your body, I am thankful I read about this and more thankful I did it. I took pictures of mine.Wish you well regardless what you decide.

      • Thank you Tina!

  73. Hi, just wanted to know if you can drink water in between even it’s directing us to drink apple juice every 2-3 hours? And are gallstones soft or hard?

    • Yes you can drink water in between drinking apple juice it is actually recommended to do so. You can also drink coconut water as it contains much needed electrolytes which are diminished during the flush.

Liver stones and gallstones can be soft or hard depending on whether they are calcified (hardens) or not. Calcified stones are more damaging to the liver and gallbladder and are the only kind of stones that show up on ultrasound technology. Non-calcified stones float in water while calcified stones sink.

  74. can you drink apple cider vinegar instead of the apple juice?

    • Yes you can drink apple cider vinegar (ACV) instead of apple juice.

  75. Hi, I’ve just completed a 7 day water fast. Hoping to kill 2 birds with one stone and do this flush too. Do you guys think I need to wait another 6 day re Apple intake etc?

    • No you do not need to wait to take apple juice or apple cider vinegar for another 6-7 days leading to the flush, fasting is just as good as any other prep work for the liver flush.

  76. Hi I’m about to try this cleanse and I need to know if I can eat lunch on day 6???

    • It is best to stay on a liquid diet leading to the flush to keep your digestive system empty and to maximize your liver flush results. Include drinks and foods like the master cleanse fasting drink, liver electrolyte drink, detox drinks, rejuvelac, kombucha, lemon juice, grapefruit juice, aloe vera juice, chanca piedra/gold coin grass tea (stone breaker tea), Chinese Bitters, urine, apple juice and apple cider vinegar as well as soups, vegetable juices and fruit smoothies. If you feel you need to eat something solid try to keep it light like a fresh garden salad or vegetable soup.

      • Why would you include “urine” in the list of approved fluids to drink?

  77. I’m doing the cleanse right now and I’m not going to the washroom like I thought I would! Is that ok??
I’ve taken the two doses of Epsom salt water and about to drink the olive oil and no bathroom going at all!

    • Epsom salts are a laxative so just give it some time and you should have a bowel movement.

  78. Hi, is the only role of epson salts to get a bowel movement. If so, is there anything wrong with not using them and just let nature take its course over subsequent days?
Also, what you guys think of the possibility/benefits of using ozonated olive oil?

  79. I eat fairly healthy and mostly vegetarian. Do I need to detox before doing this? Or is it ok to just follow the process? IT looks like a lot of the fasting happens at the end.

  80. Hi, I did one of these flushes on Saturday night (followed all the instructions). Felt great after it – saw lots of stones pass. However it is now Wednesday and I still feel pretty tender on my right hand side. Its not hurting, just tender when I move and if I laugh. I feel it a little bit more after meals. Has anyone else had this experience? Should I be concerned? Is there anything I should be doing/not doing? My thinking if that it is just a bit tender because I have never done a flush before and it hasn’t had to contract like this before?

    • Hi Jess, well done for taking the plunge and doing the cleanse! I felt quite tender too after my flush, but oh so much better… it took a few days, in fact up to a week before there was no tenderness there at all. From what I have been reading though, we should continue to do these flushes until there are a few in a row without any stones. So I will be doing another cleanse in June – I am thinking that once a month will be good for me and my schedule. I hope your tenderness goes away soon, but if it doesn’t, I would schedule another cleanse after a two week break. 🙂

      • Thanks a lot for your comment Joy and putting my mind at rest! haha – Yes I was thinking of doing another cleanse in a month. It is amazing how I don’t have any brain fog anymore. particularly in the afternoon

  81. I am doing 2 more this month since I had rice like stuff come out. The natural path said to do it 2 more times. Maybe she wants to hear that nothing came out eventually… after this she says do if twice a year. I really did not like the process. Burning pee is not fun. We try to eat healthier but toxins and real life *sugar, chips* do get eaten!!

  82. What if you don’t have a gallbladder? is it still safe?

    • This is my exact question and there are too many responses to sort through. I don’t have a gall bladder and was searching for a liver cleanse.

  83. Hi, thank you very much for your help which I really appreciate so much. I suffered digestive problems followed with so many body aches through out my life.
I tried your steps and the same night I drunk the oil and the lemons juice, I woke up with nausea and profuse sweating, I vomited bile, went back to sleep and woke up to drink the Epsom salt and guess what I passed green and light colored stones this morning. I believe more will come out and I will continue the procedure after 2 weeks. I want to try it on my father aged guy because he refused operation and God help me is my prayer.
    Thank you thank you.

  84. Hi guys… I have completed the cleanse of all ingredients and followed the instructions to the LETTER. as yet I feel NO urge to have a bowel movement. NONE. is this normal? When can I possibly expect this to work? Does it happen later in the day? I completed EVERYTHING and don’t even have a feeling of going to the bathroom. HELP!! does it sometimes take until later in the day for results?? Feeling frustrated. :(. As I said, I followed ingredients and instructions to the letter. Anyone else not have the urge to “go”?? Thank you for any help and I wish you all good health.

    • hey Bev,

I just did my first cleanse last night. I did not feel bowel movement this morning after my fist salt drink. I took about 1.5L of ionized water right away, also mixed up some lemon juice, then everything started to go. You could be dehydrated from the night of the flush, so make sure you drank plenty of water. Also make green juice as your first meal will help.

      • Vineeix – thank you so much for your reply – I think you were probably right about some dehydration. I began drinking water and as the day went on I was finally able to release many gallstones! Probably around 200 in total ranging from the size of a small pearl to about the size of an olive pit, as well as a great deal of sludge or sand made of the cholesterol. What a relief! My distended stomach went down immediately and I have no more pain but still some shortness of breath after eating. I contacted by text my GI doctor and told him what I had done and he said nonsense – “stones don’t come out like that”. Followed by him asking for me to send the recipe so he could share it with his other patients. I did so – recommending he try it first so he could experience it for himself. My hope is that he does try it and share it so others can be helped. I was grateful for his open mindedness. And truly grateful for the recipe to be sure. It worked – it worked – it worked!!! And pretty dang simple, I might add. :))). Wishing all of you here good health and a clean gallbladder!! Xo

        • Hi Bev, I can feel your elation coming through in your comment… it is palpable! I just had to write and tell you, well done for taking your health into your own hands, and taking the plunge with this cleanse… it is so liberating, and your well being after completing it is quite amazing… I hope your doctor takes your advice, and tries it for himself, because I have no doubt that he will pass on the message to his other patients!

          Yours in good health… Joy

  85. Thank you so much, Joy! Yes, it was truly a relief… And I certainly do feel better. I will be receiving an ultra sound on Monday and am anxious to see if there are many left or if they say there is still a problem. I have a question, though… Do you or does anyone here know when one may return to a regular diet? I am going to be eating healthier from here on out and I actually have been eating pretty healthy for some time now, but my past indulgences apparently caught up with me. I’m 53 and was raised on lots of junk food, fats, etc. I tend to eat much better now but there are times when a good homemade cheeseburger beckons! I have avoided meats since cleansing and a long list other things on the “do not eat” list except for very lean turkey, but I am growing weary of salads and turkey… As delicious as they are, I’m burnt out on them. Can one go ahead and eat lean meat such as beef and pork after the cleanse or should I steer clear permanently? And can I never again eat chicken with the skin on it? Or enjoy a cocktail or glass or two of wine?? Or is my gallbladder kind of setback to stock now and I’m free to carefully continue on a pretty regular diet? The attacks were so painful that now I’m safraid to eat! I don’t want to go through that pain again… Any advice from experienced cleansers? And yes, Joy – I truly hope my doctor tries the cleanse and shares it with his patients. He may lose some money by doing so but his conscience and integrity will be worth much more than greenbacks. :))). Blessings all ~

    • Hi Jordan,

Thanks for all of your great information. I understand the importance of staying on a raw food/liquid diet in the days leading up to the fast. Normally, however, I’m pretty much paleo and don’t feel that great on a raw food diet as a normal diet. Do you actually recommend a raw diet always, or just as a prep for the liver cleanse?

      • There are conflicting sources on this. It is important to consume a lot of malic acid from apples in the few days before but all of the evidence I’ve seen does not require a raw diet for those days leading up. From my experience, it is important to fast the day of as the instructions say.

  86. Thank you so much for the wonderful info, Jordan! I will do a search and try to locate the oxy-mag… Sounds like an excellent follow up. Probably great for diverticulitis! My dr. said he thought that’s what my symptoms were (diverticulitis) and that may be also, but my own body intuition and symptoms told me gallbladder and low and behold, many, many stones. With a history of ishemic colitis, I’m sure there is a lot of stuff going on in the gut! I previously had 18 inches of gangrene and was hospitalized for a week, thought I was near dying bevause I felt so bad… I do energy healing and with digestive rest and the help of a couple of other wonderful healers, we were able to completely heal the colitis. Drs. were dumbfounded! But this gallbladder thing struck me quick and I had no time for the full course of energy healing. It took two weeks of daily sessions for the colitis… I just could’nt wait that long. Thank you all again, so very much. Blessings, all!

  87. Hi, three questions:

    1. Is using Epsom salt CAPSULES as effective as actual Epsom salt? Is it better and safer to stick to real salt for my first flush?
    2. Does the time of drinking each solution matter? Can I move everything 2-3 hours later (I am a night person)? Or are the specified times chosen for the liver’s natural “functional time”?
    3. Does it matter what time I get up in the first morning, as long as I leave 2 hours between eating and drinking the first solution? Does it matter what time I get up the second morning? Does it matter how many hours I sleep the first night (before the last solution the second morning)?

    • 1) The capsules are just as effective as the loose epsom salt. Take with a glass of water.
      2) Yes you can move everything 2-3 hours after if you are a night person, the flush will still work.
      3) The nest two days are flexible as to when you get up and when you go to bed.

  88. Can I use natural calm magnesium supplement in place of the Epsom salts? If so, how much should I take? Also can I eat semi normally in the days before the cleanse? Thanks.

  89. My wife is doing a flush tonight. She took 6 oz h2o and 1 tbs epsom at 6 p.m. and again at 8 p.m.
she had colonic today and otherwise has followed the moritz flush to the letter.
an hour after the 8 p.m. epsom she vomited strongly.
    Should she continue the flush?
i hope someone can answer tonight please!

    • I’m not a doc, so I can’t offer any specific help, but personally, I would not combine a colonic and a flush, as that is a lot of the body to take on at once.

      • The andreas moritz book says to do a colonic on the flush day.
she is due to take the oil and citrus in 1/2 hr and we need to know if the epsom will still be effective after her throwing up.

        • I don’t know for sure, since I never threw up while doing it… did the book say either way?

          • No, it only talks about vomiting after the oil.
She went ahead and did the oil, 20 minutes has passed and she feels ok.
Oddly enough here in New Mexico where it rarely rains, a strong thunderstorm with large hail started just as she started the oil. Maybe a good omen.

      • I can’t tell if my replies are getting through.

We were hoping that vomiting and hour after the second epsom salt dose wouldn’t affect the process. We are continuing on she just took the olive oil / citrus and is lying dowm.

The Andreas Moritz book specifically calls for a colonic on the day of the flush.

    • Well she did the flush, including the 2 epsom salts portions this a.m.
All appears well and there was some passing of stones. Small and voluminous.
Yes, her colonic therapist did recommend a post flush colonic as well so does the Morirz book.
She is scheduled for it Tuesday.
Thanks for the reply, it good of you to offer support for those going through this.

  90. mother tried this liver/gall bladder flush a week ago..she passed out several green stuff things..but after 4 days, she had again gallbladder attack and it was more severe compared to her past ot okay if she repeat this flushing..?she is guilty though that 2dys aftr the flushing, she had taken fatty and oily foods..i thouht tht if u had flushing,no moreGB attacks??
Thanks..hoping for a quick reply before deciding for a surgery for her!

  91. I was diagnosed with N.A.S.H. liver last year. The doctor gives me less than 8 years to live. I’m a single mother and my children are my world. I need to be okay for them. The doctors found that my liver was fatty a decade ago, but they didn’t know about fatty liver diseases then. My health has been a huge struggle for me the past decade. I’ve always battled with my weight. Now my oldest daughter has been diagnosed with the disease. She’s only 14! Now I wonder just how long I’ve had this disease. My liver has doubled in size at this point, trying to repair itself. They told me I will start going into liver failure in less than five years. I’m on my way to having cirrhosis of the liver and yet I’ve never been an alcoholic. I do not have hepatitis C. Please help me. I’m afraid and seeking ways to rid my liver of the fat. I want to live. I need to live! More importantly, I need to save my daughter as well. She is an intelligent and talented young lady. She has big dreams and so much potential. She’s beautiful and I love her. We both struggle with our weight and I question whether or not the clogged liver is slowing our progress? I’m desperate. Any suggestions would be appreciated beyond belief! May love and happiness fill your lives. <3 Margie

  92. Thank you so much for the information. The doctors didn’t give me much information. Only said to lose weight and eat a low-fat diet at 1,200 calories a day. I lost 24 pounds, but he said I need to lose another 50 to qualify for the donors list. I just turned 37 and I certainly want to be around to see where this journey brings me in another 37 years! I’m going to check out the links you’ve provided me. Loads of love and appreciation. I liver you back! 😀 Hahaha.. I love it! <3 Margie

  93. Dear Margie,

When I read your post on the 5th, my heart really went out to you (my liver too for that matter!! 🙂 I really hoped that Jordan Blaikie would reply to you, as he is the one best qualified to give advice – he is so knowledgeable on the subject. He didn’t disappoint me… he is obviously very passionate about this whole area of health, and is always seems to be happy to give advice to the populace!

I just wanted to encourage you to try all of his advice, and do all the necessary preparation for the lead up to the liver and gall bladder flushes. It will not be an easy road, but you seem to have the right attitude, ie, the desire to get healthy no matter what it takes, so that you can be around for your precious children as they grow up. Your children will not only benefit from a healthier happier Mom, but they will benefit from the change in diet that you will be following on your road to better health. These changes will benefit them greatly too, especially your oldest daughter.

Good luck on your road to better health, keep that sense of humour of yours, and please let us know how this new health regimen is working for you.

More strength to you… I liver you too! 😉

    • Sweet Joy, I’m really thankful for your support and encouragement. I’m going shopping tomorrow and looking forward to taking this first gigantic leap! ? I will be sure to update and bombard everyone with questions along the way. Hahaha ? A big huge hug and all the gratitude in my heart for the responses from you, lovely Joy, and the wonderful Jordan. Hope shines brighter each day!! It’s such a precious gift to meet people with selfless hearts. Love and happiness always. I liver you lovelies! <3 Margie

      • Dear Margie,

Thanks for your sweet response to my comment… I just happened to see your comment when I was reading through the comments right now… over a month later! I have been wondering how you are doing, and whether you had tried the liver flush yet, and what results you had had. Please do follow up and let us know… hoping you had the same success that I had, and many many others too.

        Take care,

  94. Hi,

I have only one kidney, I want to do a flush but what are your recommendations for someone with one kidney?

    Thank you

  95. How can I expect to feel whilst doing this? Should I take leave from work? Will I be nauseous, lightheaded etc. Can someone explain so that I can at least be prepared for the symptoms please. Thank you

  96. Hi, really hoping this helps me. I’ve had pretty bad stomach problems for about 14 years, also skin issues, extreme fatigue, severe menstruation problems and innumerable tests, and all they found was a mild (ha) dairy intolerance and low iron. I went extreme 3years ago, all organic, 0 chemicals. Has helped a lot, but many of the issues remain. Then, 2 months ago, we met an old hippie in Hawaii who strongly recommended I do this cleanse (and stay away from coffee ?). Praying this works. Only 1 question, what kind of Epsom salts do I use? I can’t find anywhere where it specifies, but I quickly found out there’s bath salts and oral salts. Should I use the oral ones (very hard to find), or can I use bath ones? Also, he said to do a parasite cleanse, does anyone know much about that? Very little information out there with precise instructions. What I have found is to use black walnut hull, wormwood and cloves. I have them all, but how much do I use?

  97. Hi, in my supermarket the epsom salts are the same for bath and for oral. On the box it just says Magnesium Sulfate and gives you instructions for using in the bath or laundry and also for the garden. These are the ones I use for the cleanse. I made capsules up as the salt is really hard to get down for me.
For the parasite cleanse google how much of everything to take. Do this cleanse before doing the liver cleanse. Good luck 🙂

  98. Does anyone know if the malic acid content in “reconstituted” tart cherry juice is the same as that of “not from concentrate” tart cherry juice.
I would think so as they both taste pretty tart. We are going to use that instead of apple juice for the 2nd flush as the quantity needed is less.
Is either sufficient for the flush?

  99. can I drink apple juice light plus calico and vitamin c,d

  100. I am doing this flush as I write this. I didn’t fast or eat raw food for days beforehand or eat only apples, I did take malic acid supplements. I have insulin and leptin resistance issues and follow a low-carb regimen. I also have Hashimoto’s and cannot eat a lot of vegetables raw because of the goitrogens. Since January of this year, I dropped a lot of weight (40 > lbs) and recently started having what I believe to be liver/gallbladder issues. No pain, but just pressure and discomfort in the upper right quadrant of my stomach that would sometimes radiate to the back, and a lot of gas. I did eat fairly light the past several days and added more fiber. Yesterday for breakfast, I had two eggwhites scrambled with peppers onions and tomatoes in a non-stick pan, green tea and some homemade applesauce and later some steamed broccoli with lemon. I cannot do cereals or oatmeal, because they are off my regimen and I don’t eat those things.

I didn’t eat anything after 2:00, just drank water, and then at 6:00 and 8:00, I drank that horrendous Epsom salt solution (OMG – I can’t think of anything that was ever as bad as that). I was running back and forth to the bathroom. Then at 10:00 p.m. I drank my olive oil-lemon juice mixture (blended with a hand blender to which I added a fresh garlic clove and a pinch of Himalayan salt to make it a bit more palatable) chased by water. The oil-lemon concoction was actually pretty good. Then I lay down on my left side as instructed and tried to sleep. I was up once during the night to run to the bathroom again. Been a lot of gurgling in the stomach.

At 7:00 this morning, I drank my third round of Epsom salts and will soon drink the last round. Interestingly, I don’t feel that pressure or discomfort on the right side anymore that I’ve had for the past couple of weeks. So I am really hoping that the gallbladder/liver have emptied whatever was in there and I will see the results soon.

  101. Sorry, I should correct that to read I lay down on my RIGHT side, as instructed. Not left. Was a bit loopy yesterday.

So I don’t think I passed any stones, unless all the little blackish/browish specs I saw were stones, but nothing big. I did pass quite a lot of what I am guess is sludge. Sorry for the TMI. I felt very tired the whole day. But when I woke up this morning, I felt so much better The pressure in my right side below the ribcage and any back pain was gone, all the gas was gone and for the first time in weeks, I feel normal again. I will repeat this flush in a few weeks and see what else happens.

I have an appointment with the gastroenterologist next week for a CT scan and endoscopy and colonoscopy. I don’t want to cancel as I’d still like them to have a look around and see what’s going on. But I will do everything I can to avoid any potential gall bladder removal.

  102. Did Blaikie just hijack your thread. He sometimes contradict s you so I think it’s important for you to be on the thread consistently. Do I need to be on a liquid diet up to the cleanse. It’s completely unclear on your directions. The LiverFlush man says so, but you don’t respond on your own blog??!

  103. Hello,

I will be doing this protocol next week. Currently Dry Fasting. When I first came to a Raw Vegan diet, I drank a lot of my own apples juiced, & would eat salads that consisted of cold pressed olive oil because I LOVED the taste! One day, I expelled the pea green stones & I never knew ANYTHING about this protocol. I knew I had gallstones however because a few years before, I had been having some “health problems” & they did an ultrasound which showed I had gallstones. My Doctor at the time, said it was no big deal. :/ Anyhow, that was 6 years ago! & I’ve wanted to do this little experiment for some time now.

  104. What is “dry fasting” and what do you mean that your salad “consisted” of cold pressed olive oil? Do you mean you put this oil on your salad? I can’t quite picture a salad of olive oil? Anyway, the Wellness Mama does not talk about what to eat up to the day of the fast. The Liver Flush man says to do mostly raw foods in the form of liquids. So that’s basically what I’m doing with some salads and some tuna in the salad, etc. I’m normally paleo, not vegan, so this is a large shift, but I don’t know what WM would recommend for the days before the cleanse. I’m surprised she doesn’t address that since it’s likely important. It looks like you could just continue eating paleo…bacon, roast beef, etc. right up until the cleanse. Hmmm…doesn’t seem right.

  105. I always like to mention for the doubters, a friend of mine had a stone stuck in her bile duct, and the doctors wanted to operate. She almost died as a baby because of doctor ineptitude, so was more than a little dubious. I suggested a liver flush with magnesium and olive oil, and gave her the instructions. She passes a 2.8 cm stone, confirmed with imaging before and after. Naturally her doctor who had told her she would die without surgery, didn’t really care much how she did it. Gee, isn’t interesting how its almost like they have a monopoly and no real desire to innovate, or cut costs for you. Welcome to modern medicine.

    • This is exactly what I was looking for! I’ve heard so many controversial things about the composition of the stones that come out. I figured it could be cleanse-induced “stones” and actual problem stones…as long as they’re compelled to move out doesn’t matter!

  106. So can you use epsom salt capsules instead? If so, how many? I am buying the items tomorrow and after reading through comments I am scared of drinking the salts so I will get the capsules if they work the same. Thanks!

    • please tell me the procedure of cofee anemia as epsom salt is not available only himalaya salt is available

  107. I performed the cleanse, but I am now experiencing severe cramps. I drank water throughout the night to prevent dehydration, but it seems that I am dehydrated. Is this a normal reaction to the cleanse or did I do something wrong? I would really like an answer. These cramps have not subsided with rehydration of water.

  108. Are protein drinks ok day 1-5?
And which days do we consume food or is it basically liquids for Aprox a week?

  109. My holistic doc prescribed the flush for my inflammed liver and gallbladder. Being a former macronutrient nazi, I’m afraid of all the calories I’d be taking in from the olive oil! A little help! Don’t want to gain weight doing this flush!

  110. Today my Acupuncturist suggested I do the liver flush. I have Adrenal Fatigue and Acupuncturist also says I have weak liver. I have a couple questions. My body only sleeps from 3am to 11. So can I adjust the time I do this. Also with Adrenal Fatigue were not supposed to eat hardly any fruit but lots of protein and vegies and carbs. . Plus it causes Hypoglycemia and we’re supposed to eat several times a day. So I’m concerned about how to do this with my restrictions. Any suggestions?

  111. I’m planning to do the cleanse tomorrow. I’ve done it twice before (never heard of the apple juice prior to the epsom salts so I hadn’t done that). I passed some stones the first time and the 2nd, it didn’t seem to work because I had a lunch with protein–it was mung beans only, but still it contained protein. So a vegetarian lunch isn’t restrictive enough. I plan on having some apple cider vinegar tonight and perhaps apples for breakfast and/or lunch tomorrow. Thanks, Wellness Mama, for this blog. This is a strange and somewhat scary thing to do, so everyone’s support makes it better.

How is a coffee enema done, and do you have to use Bulletproof coffee?

  112. My husband was told he needed surgery on his gall bladder a month ago. He did this flush and has felt better for a month. A few days ago he had another flare up so he just did the flush again last night. He didn’t do the final drink at 10 p.m., he did it at 11 p.m. This morning he woke up in severe pain. Is it because he waited an hour for the final drink?

  113. I did the flush and it worked for me. Was able to follow somehow except I had some beef and cheese on 1 meal on first day, but having remembered I shouldn’t do, I started watching what I ate and simply followed the apple juice for 6 days. I did not get to drink lots and lots of water throughout the week and feel I shld have, but guess I was blessed enough that nothing went wrong. I did not consume any meat (not even fish or chicken for all 6 days). I only added 1 tsp epsom salt in my drink (gulping it and avoiding it to touch or stay long in my tongue) and was not able to drink my last drink as I had a problem with the glass.

Anyway, was able to bring out lots of greens and browns which I assume are gallstones? the biggest I have based on ultrasound is 0.81cm. My sis in law who as internal med said this flush is safe as long as there is nothing bigger to pass thru the bile duct but it seems it’s ok according to some who placed their comments here.
So far, what I found hard with the flush is the need to watch and control what you eat, the drinking of the epsom salt then the olive oil and citrus juice mix (i used combi of grapefruit and lemon juice) and the 7th day itself where one has to go restroom many times. But looking back, it’s doable, you just have to be informed, have all you need and to simply follow the steps and be ready physically, emotionally and mentally. 🙂

  114. Hi, I am looking to do the flush on Monday. However, I’m a little confused with the recipe and how much of the Epsom salts to take?

Step 3 – Mix 4 tbls of Epsom salts in 3 cups of water? How big is a CUP?! And is that 3 seperate cups for the 3 seperate times to take it? It confused me when it says ‘at 6pm drink 3/4 of the mixture’ … and then ‘at 8pm, drink 3/4 of the mixture’. Does it mean 3/4 and then 1/4?

Any help is much appreciated as I want to do it right!

  115. During the first 4to 5 day before the flush can you eat anything other than apples and drink anything other that apple juice?

  116. It says at the end not to eat any fruit right away. The second day of the actual cleanse are you to eat only fruit all day or can you eat other foods slowly as your body is able?

  117. I have recently started doing the flush due to constant gallbladder attacks even after changing my eating habits. On about the 8th flush. Epsom salts were hard for myself, and my family to consume. Gallstones have caused problems in 4 of 6 in my family. We all do the flush tho now. With that being said we have all learned and shared with our experience and learning from others. In that regard we have found a replacement for the Epsom salts, which tastes much better. Natural Factors makes magnesium citrate powder (300 mg) with a tropical fruit flavour, it comes in 250 g container. I use the same amount of magnesium citrate as Epsom salts; 4:4. One thing we found is that the magnesium citrate didn’t work for 1 of 6 in the family. So testing it out for yourself is something to consider. I also mixed the powder with apple juice making it actually quite tastey. Hope this helps some of you having problems consuming Epsom salts which taste disgusting. 🙂

  118. I am going to try the cleanse on the upcoming weekend. I have had dull pain on my upper right side/back, along with gas and burping. It comes right after eating in the evening and at night. I have also had the heat and sweats at night, but no fever. It started a week ago. I eat pretty healthy, only salmon and mostly veggies, beans, fruit. No fast food, little processed and sweets. However, I just wanted to clarify for those confused by the “3/4 of epsom mixture”. It was confusing for me as well. I found the answer on another site. You are to mix 4 tbsp of epsom salt in 3 cups of water. The first dose you take at 6pm is 3/4 of a cup of the mixture. The next dose at 8pm is 3/4 of a cup of the mixture. Then when you wake up, you take 3/4 of a cup and the final 3/4 of a cup after 2 hours. It adds up, so there!

  119. I asked my doctor about liver cleansing. She advised that a total body cleanse is better than cleansing a specific organ.

I make my own herbal detox by using the following: goldenseal root powder, burdock root powder, red clover powder, yellow dock powder, beet powder, Bentonite clay and milk thistle. When I did cleansing just for the liver I used only milk thistle.

For a total body cleansing I do a colon cleanse and blood/liver cleanse. I also add Bentonite Clay and Probiotics.

During this time I keep off meats, sodas and anything with sugar. I love meats and sugary food. I find that when I do the cleansing and keep off meats and sodas my desire for them wane. It takes some amount of discipline though.

    • Interesting. Would you share the amounts of each ingredient in your detox mixture, how much you take, how you take it, when you take it, for how long does the program run, repeat how often, and so on?

    • Taking some good probiotics will kill sugar and starch cravings. It’s amazing.

  120. 11/20/15 I followed the cleanse instructions completely.. 8 a.m. morning of the 21st and the cleanse offered no result other than as a laxative… am I missing something? Around 3a.m. I did feel some movement and slight pain in the area of my gallbladder but no stones… This morning I am bloated and in discomfort in my gallbladder area.. I have all the symptoms of needing this cleanse and was hoping for relief. I really do not want to go the route of traditional medicine, can you offer any advice?

    Thank You!

  121. I did not release the stones until 6.30 pm the evening after the flush. Perhaps they’ve just not come through yet?

  122. wondering if this is will work for those who do not have a gallbladder?

  123. My gall bladder was removed several years back. Would this cleanse still be of benefit to me? Long term pain medication use and muscle relaxers for chronic pain (fibromyalgia, arthritis, meds prescribed) have left me with the same pain issues as well as NAFLD, and I can tell when my liver is acting up by the dull ache and perpetual nausea all food brings. I stay away from pharmaceuticals as much as possible and work with natural remedies. Still, my liver wants some help.

    • Yes – absolutely it is the best thing you can do, considering your symptoms!

Get the Andreas Moritz’s book, called “The Amazing Liver and Gallbladder Flush”. It explains in detail what to expect and how to do it. You can google and find it free online!

  124. I have never done a cleanse before but started a mixture of ginger and time rich and honey that I take 2 times a day that seems harmless. But this sounds intense and your directions are unclear to a novice as to if I’m supposed to starve myself for 6 days and eat nothing but apples, or can I eat as normal? And i want to know from the author what to expect from the cleanse. Am I going to need to use the restroom a lot??? If I get too hungry, what should i eat?

  125. I have done this type of gall bladder cleanse and has helped. However, the last time, while lying down on my right side, my stomach sphincter opened up and the oil/lemon came up my and I was afraid I was going to aspirate and so I jumped up out of bed. I think it was the Epsom salt relaxing that part so much. Any suggestions, since I want to do this cleanse again.

    • I’ve done a similar gallbladder/liver flush. Whether they were stones or not, I felt amazingly better after the first and second flushes. It’s a feeling of elation and freedom. I’ve always had digestive problems despite the fact I’m extremely fit and eat a very clean diet. I can only describe the sensation as when you have sinus congestion (but in your abdomen) and it clears up. I’ve done two other flushes. The third one did not produce any “stones.” The first two produced over 1,000 combined. I wouldn’t consider them stones because they do float, but they certainly are unwanted objects I don’t want in my body.

  126. My mom just did the “flush” yesterday evening but no stones came out this morning. We followed the instructions and I’m not sure what was the problem. Please need your advice. Thanks.

    • Get the book by Andreas Moritz, called “The Amazing Liver and Gallbladder Flush” ( It explains in detail what to expect and how to do it.

Often people will not pass stones on the first flush. Sometimes not on the second flush either (but usually they do!). Get the book…around page 110 or so are the instructions for the flush itself. But read the whole book. It’s packed with information and various scenarios people face.

  127. I love this site and have been directed here many times in the past few years. It’s been a source of great information on wellness. The comments here are interesting to read. Jordan offers great advice for altering the cleanse and I’ve seen many versions of the flush around the internet. I like how simple this one is. I started doing these flush diets about two years ago after spending a day at the ER with abdominal pains and an elevated WBC and then seeing a a gastroenterologist who couldn’t figure out what was wrong. Gall bladder attacks are extremely painful and I was getting these about every 6 weeks and they lasted about a day or two each time. My own research finally led me to these flush diets and some herbal care. I have to say that I haven’t had an attack since my very first flush. I am getting ready to do my third. Once a year seems to keep attacks away and I take apple cider vinegar (pill form) on a daily basis, but I do think healthy people benefit from the cleanse also; and everyone really wants a healthy gall bladder, believe me.

I’m so glad you took on this topic. Thank you!

  128. What is with the grapefruit pulp? Directions are to remove it with a fork, but after you shake the mixture, it’s supposed to be all liquid which it can’t be if you added the pulp to it. So do you add the pulp to the mixture or not?

    • It doesn’t matter if you drink it with the pulp. Makes no difference either way. I’m inclined to leave the pulp in when I do a liver flush.

  129. Hi all – wondering is it suitable to do the flush during episode of attack (pain)? Or better wait until pain subsides? Anyone any experience or information to share is received with Thanks!

    • It’s best to wait until the flare up subsides before doing the actual flush (drinking the oil and citrus juice). By all means, start the preparation days (several days before doing the flush you eat and drink lightly – to prepare you for the flush).

In the meantime, get some Chanca Piedra (aka Queba Pedra)- and make tea with it. It softens and breaks up the stones, and calms the inflammation down. It comes in tincture form suspended in glycerin (put drops in water and drink), or in dried herb (to make tea with). It cleanses the liver, gallbladder and kidneys at the same time.

Once you’ve been taking the Chanca Piedra for a bit, and your symptoms calm down – you can do the flush.

  130. Can you do this if you have no gallbladder? My bile duct is tied with string living it open a little to pass stones if need be.

    • Yes, you can do a liver/gallbladder flush without a gallbladder. Since bile is produced in the liver – and has ducts – it can also get congested with stones. In fact, it’s a good idea if one has had their gallbladder removed, to do flushes a few times a year!

You can also take Chanca Piedra – either as a daily cup of tea (dried herb) or use tincture drops in water (but don’t buy one processed with alcohol – it needs to be suspended in glycerin). This herb softens and breaks the stones…but also tones and cleanses the liver, gallbladder and kidneys…just to name a few benefits. It’s a wonderful herb.

  131. Hi! Many thanks for this post! For those who are interested in doing a liver cleanse, you should visit the site which describes in details how to carry out a liver flush according to Andreas Moritz’s book “The Amazing Liver and Gallbladder Flush”. As well as the description of the process and the results which have been illustrated with pictures, many testimonials from people are interesting to read.
Thanks to this method I managed to get rid of my constant back pain after several cleansings 😉

  132. Am I able to drink regular water during the flush process? I am thinking the salt water and no food/drinks would be hard to bear. I was hoping water would be ok??

    • Yes, you should in fact drink a lot of water to help flush out adequately. It really helps propel the stones in my opinion.

  133. Hi, I just had a quick query, during the 4-5 day build up do you eat a normal diet aswell as the consumption of as much/many apple juice as poss. Thank you

  134. Hello, I did the cleanse last night and did not get much of a release. I eat very well and get colonics monthly. I DO know my gall bladder is blocked though. Would you recommend doing another cleanse tonight? I don’t want to do more harm. Thank you.

    • It is recommended to not do these flushes closer than 3-4 weeks apart. I would recommend getting the book “The Amazing Liver and Gallbladder Flush” and getting all the fine details before attempting another flush. There are numirous little seemingly inconsequential things that you can do to reduce the effect of the flush. Specifically the diet recommendations. The book has way more detail. Good luck!

    • Val, a monthly colonic is great. In between colonics (since they are so expensive here) I do a home coffee enema. Great for detoxing the liver. I feel wonderful after a colonic and a enema.

  135. What I’m baffled about is the suggestion to add vitamin C powder to improve flavor. Vitamin C power is bitter, nasty stuff. I am eager to try this cleanse, sans the vitamin C powder, In about 2 weeks when I have the time to take it easy for that day.

  136. This is “how the magic happens” It’s apparently a chemical reaction between the lemon juice / grapefruit juice, and the olive oil, it has been reproduced in jars as they explain. The “cleans” doesn’t actually do anything except pass congealed globs of olive oil and citrus juice… they do say the epsom salt may trigger some kind of reaction from the gall bladder, but that eating an oily meal is way more likey to cause the reaction you’re trying to achieve.

sorry guys, it’s hippity dippity,… maybe next time you should look up how something works instead of pretend ignorance is medicinal. I’m sure folks will just bury their heads. It’s like the onion in the socks thing,… not real.

    • Alright, then explain how the pain is mysteriously gone for ALL of the people who have done the cleanse, oh wise one. I’ll wait for your non “hippity dippity” response.

    • My husband and I have varied the gall bladder flush procedures we’ve done over the years. We’ve not done them every year, but certainly “as needed” for 15+ years. Out of his 7 siblings, my husband is THEE only one who still has his gall bladder! The last gall bladder removal on his side of the family was his 18 year old niece about a year ago!

Concurrent to one historical gall bladder flush, my husband had an appointment with the family doctor about an unrelated issue but intentionally mentioned the gall bladder flush and showed Doc the massive amounts of varying shapes, sizes, and colors of stones he ejected and had collected in a baggie! Doc was curious and grabbed the three finger baggie out of hubby’s hand and asked sharply, “How’d you get these out?”

As Paul Harvey would say… here’s the rest of the story… The doc took the baggie of stones to have them tested and sure enough, Doc reported back that, indeed, they were gall stones!

We were hoping Doc would want to tell others how hubby did it, as we believe the sick care industry participation by some could be balanced by a doctor’s responsibility to teach health preserving concepts. That did not happen and we have long term experience and beliefs about why,

The end of my entry to respectfully disagree with all the staunch naysayers herein… is… there is a gall bladder flush under way in our household at this moment and it more likely than not will relieve the negative feedback symptoms and create a greater sense of homeostasis for the flushee… AGAIN! Wish it wasn’t necessary now and then, but we both know we are very blessed with the knowledge to do it and to know how to do it effectively!!!

      • Did your husband’s relatives hear about his liver flushes before they underwent the knife? What did they say?

  137. Enjoy reading everyone’s comments. I want to use the Niacin B3 instead of the Epson Salt/Epsom Salt Capsules. If I do use the Naicin B3, how many mg are recommended to take, and do I take your recommended dose every time the recipe and instructions calls for me to “drink the epson salt mixture”, which I will be replacing by using the Niacin B3?

Also, why is it important to wait several days before taking the Oil/Lemon Mixture? I’m anxious to start asap.
Is it because the apple juice/tart cherry juice will help soften stones?

Wouldn’t capsules of MSM assist the liver in breaking down FATS in the liver?

    Happy Valentine’s!

    • MSM likely does play a role in assisting the liver, but it seems to me that if you want to carry fats out of the liver, choline is the way to go. Even scientific medicine recognizes this.

  138. I tried this cleanse over the weekend and had pretty dramatic results. I passed many, many stones, one of which was the size of my pinky finger. I think it’s important to note that I also lost half a pound the day after doing this cleanse. The epsom salts really are terrible… the oil and lemon mixture, not so bad 🙂

  139. Thank you for all the information. It is helping with my fear to do my first cleanse. I started Malic acid today and wanted to know when the earliest would be to do the final part. I do not get attacks but am very uncomfortable. Thank you

  140. I have a question about use of Epsom Salt. I have read that using it can cause Hypermagnesemia in very rare cases that lead to death. I am not sure if this can be a possibility when this recipe calls to drink 4 table spoons with breaks not all at once. Really would like to try this but i have to be certain before if there might or might not be such complication. Thank you in advance

    • Hi Maria- even on the epsom salt packaging, it explains that it can be used as a laxative in this way, but certainly talk with your doc if you have any concerns and before doing this or any other cleanse.

    • I think the “death” comes from taking large doses over time. However, I never followed the instructions to take 4 tablespoons over about 10-12 hours. That is too much, period. I take 2 tablespoons several hours apart and believe me, that works. Oh, does it work.

  141. How can you do this while on the GAPS diet? All that juice and a no fat breakfast? I’d like to try it, but I’m on GAPS Intro diet right now.

    • GAPS is intensely focused on gut healing, so I wouldn’t introduce anything else (clease/flush/etc.) until you’re finished with GAPS.

  142. I too, am about to do this cleanse but it’s very important that all who do this cleanse understand that if they are allergic to SULFA, you can’t use epsom salt. Magnesium citrate is a good alternative to the epsom salt.

    • This statement “if they are allergic to SULFA, you can’t use epsom salt.” is false.
Allergy to sulfa is allergy to sulfa based medications and not sulfur.
If someone was allergic to sulfur, they would die.
Sulfur is an Essential Element for all life meaning we have to have it or we die.
My sister is very allergic to sulfa based meds, but she liver flushes with epsom salts all the time.

  143. Hi I just did this cleanse last night and I woke up at 2:30 with my heart pounding like crazy till I had to go throw up. I don’t know now if this cleanse is still effective. I have had a few bowel movements since but so far haven’t noticed too much stuff floating or anything? Anyone experience something similar?

  144. I tried this a month ago, and it was amazing the results that I saw. I could not believe the amount of stones that came out of my body. As I had been diagnosed with gallbladder stones, the good news was that during the second ultrasonography the doctor could see that the number had been reduced, which was great news. I wonder how early I could try another cleansing. Would anybody be able to help with that?

  145. What do you eat post cleanse? I’m assuming one should eat a light meal, and nothing too heavy?

  146. When you are admitted to hospital with suspected cholecystitis you will be given iv fluids via a drip and told to be nil by mouth… Because not eating anything means you are giving the gallbladder a break…. Some rest and recouporation. The liver flush is essentially the same…… You only eat fruit and then drink Epsom salts and poo water poo out all day, there is a rating time before you consume fats again, therefore a resting time before your gallbladder has to do much work again.

    Stacy E: I’m with you

  147. I had my gallbladder removed about 2 months ago. Can I stop do the liver cleanse? I still have pain in the area of my liver, I’m just wondering if a cleanse would help. I’ve been drinking detox tea the last couple days, no clue yet if it’s working.

  148. For those who wish to avoid the liver flush, taking sunflower lecithin caps or liquid (I get mine from iherb) might be an option. It won’t work overnight, but it is said to be a splendid medicine for the liver/gallbladder system. I guess this is due to the choline component of the lecithin.

  149. Going for my 5th gallstone flush and it only took me 3 days to do it. The 4th time I did it, about hundreds of green stone came out, various sizes same as the dark stones measuring 3cm in diameter. Really works

  150. HELP plz doing now! is water ok to drink btwn 2pm-6pm?

    • Yes. Stay hydrated.

      • thx can I still drink a little water till 10pm?

  151. Green stones are called liver stones. Google them and you can see what they are and the pictures.

  152. I am considering doing a flush. I read Andreas Moritz’s book and understand the process. Moritz highly recommends doing a kidney cleanse prior to the flush. I’m interested to hear whether others did or didn’t do this prior to the cleanse and how important it is? I’d like to do the flush in 3 weeks and don’t have time to do the 20 day kidney cleanse.

  153. Well I did mine this past weekend. I have hashimotos and read that this will kick start the metabolism. I passed about 30+ stones and a lot of rancid bile! I plan on doing another next month. I have not lost any weight in 3 years! One doctor actually gave me Qsymia and I lost 2 pounds! Just to gain it back No doctor can tell me why!!!! I have to agree that this is a worthwhile venture outside of a surgeon chopping the gall bladder out!

So far I have much more energy, with a lot less fatigue!

    • Not really – haven’t you read the other comments?? Quack watch happens to be the biggest quack of them all – paid by the big pharma to contradict sound, natural remedies that cause their toxic pharmaceuticals to lose them money.

  154. Hello i am doing my flush tomorrow after 4 days of drink acv to help break up potential stones….
im using mag citrate instead of epsom salts as im super sensitive to magnesium in general . Im looking forwards to seeing a good result due to dull ache below my rib cage and severe constipation, so i hope this flush will help me out and resume normal BM’s and over all healthier disposition.
Happy health to you all ..oh and i will sip water up to the oil part do keep me hydrated.

    • Rhia,
If you are constipated, please be sure to do a colonic or back to back deep enemas before doing the flush! See the book (The Amazing Liver and Gallbladder Flush) for more in-depth information. For one, it would be unsuccessful if you don’t and for another you will likely get quite sick (vomiting, shaking, sweating, cramps) during the flush if there is no room to “flush”.

  155. Hi All, about 4 months ago i started, loosely, following the gerson protocol, which involves juicing and daily coffee enemas. they are to not only kill parasites etc but help the liver flow better for overall health. I usually eat mostly veggies and fruits, occasionally meat but not much, but at least once a day (sometimes twice) I do the CE. And drink at least 16-24 oz of juice. Is this, esp. with the C.E. a good way also to keep the liver and gall bladder health, as opposed to a flush from the mouth side ?? I have a very hard time, due to stomach issues taking in certain things. Thanks .

  156. Has anyone used less than the 4 T of Epsom salts (or an alternative form of magnesium); and if so: 1) how much less?, and 2) did it go okay as far as still getting results AND dilating the ducts sufficiently enough to not have pain during the flush?
I have been researching and preparing to do my first flush for about 6 months but am still trying to figure out how much magnesium citrate to use (I’m sensitive to mag sulfate so am substituting mag citrate). I’m hesistant to use the full 4 T called for (or even the full 2 T called for prior to drinking the oil) because I’ve very been quite sick for about a year, am currently underweight (about 100 lbs), naturally have very low blood pressure, have been barely eating for months because of my GB/liver situation, and seem to be sensitive to most things, so I’m concerned my system may be too fragile for such an enormous dose of mag citrate right now, but also don’t want to take too low a dosage and have issues with the ducts not dilating enough… does anyone have either experience with and/or expertise about altering the magnesium dosages? Is it possible to “overdose” with and/or have dangerous reactions to too much magnesium citrate or does the body just excrete what it doesn’t need?

    • I would pose your question to Dr Edward Group – he knows a lot about the cleanse and is good with answering questions.

      • Thanks for the recommendation Michelle! Do you happen to know of a way of getting directly to Dr Group? His book is actually one of many that I have recently read on the subject, and I’m currently using a few of his products, but he apparently doesn’t “practice” anymore and now just runs the Global Healing Center. Their customer service is very friendly (& quite helpful with product/order-related issues) but I have found them to not really be trained or authorized to give more specific /individual suggestions /advice with regards to questions like this.

  157. He does answer questions on his YouTube videos. Good luck!

    • Oh okay, good to know! I will check that out! Thanks again =)

  158. Hi
I have just finished my cleanse but no obvious stones appeared although I did not siv through, everything was liquid. I followed the apple juice for 5 days, no meat, have a colonic etc. is this common or should there always be some tracies of stones? Im only 27 too

  159. I Tried it and i feel better! I watched a TV show where they are demonstrating that those things passing are just oil soaps not stones and they kept the juice and the oil in a just with bile, and after 9 hours in 37 degrees it became what people are showing on photos.

However, they didn’t actually wait 9 hours right on a TV show,
They said we pre-prepared other jar what was done 9 hours ago. So i said to my self there is so many people free of pain so why not try, since these are safe ingredients, i was waking up in the morning from pain, cant breath cant even turn over, it was so bad! I was ready. I did the same as Andreas Moritz Recipe,

First day i didn’t pass much bile, so decided to continue second day, put my self through hunger because pain was so bad. So same thing, within 48 hours second dose of salt and oil with lemon mixed with grape fruit. Woke up from pain like diarrhea, God i run to washroom, passed lots of pea size yellow green things. but it was at around 11:00 i got the urge to go again, and what i saw was chocking to me, i passed egg shape some big thing in size of like big almond just one big and few smalls,
Now its gross but i was curious, I took that thing with disposable gloves and disposable plate and knife and cut into half to see what is it, it looks like candle texture, really, i put under running water, it didn’t wash away not a bit, just like candle piece would stay. It was Bright Dark Green,
And there was coating around it, when i run hot water that coating melted, i do believe that coating was the olive oil, it was quite thick like 2-3 mm maybe if i’m not wrong, like tooth pick thickness. So the main thing, now it is forth day, i’m eating normal again, as i was, but no heavy feeling nor pain, at all, i know how i was, and now i’m better, plus, i have severe psoriasis, that reduced!!!!!!
Seriously, i am happy, i wouldn’t do this for another year maybe unless i have a pain again, its not easy, but whatever that was i passed i feel better. so much better!

  160. Why do you lay on the side that your gallbladder and liver are on? Wouldn’t you want them to drop out while on your left side?

    • That’s a good point, no idea why, maybe because you need the oil mixture to flow to that area, I was told to keep warm pack over that side too.

  161. I have to post this!
Now it’s 10th day since I had the flush, no pain and no discomfort in liver area, this is such a relief, again this is what is important to me and I hope everyone who is having pain and attempting this will have a good result.

And most importantly my psoriasis is getting better and better.

I have to add that I am not eating meat or dairy nor oily food till now, maybe this is also what is improving my health, but I was eating healthy even before except few cheating days.

I am still wondering what is that things really and I made a conclusion after visiting holistic treatment center for colon cleanse.
They also have liver cleanse, they do with tube inserted and the result they look for is green stool and they told that would be the bile which is main cause of stones and everything else that comes before that.

So as I understand for my self, we eat oily and unhealthy food that adds up and hardens and becomes a stone right, so by drinking that mixture you are able to remove that toxic bile and hopefully some of the stones or prestone things whatever you call them.
That is not oil or else it would melt under hot water, it is bile hardened and about to become a stone. Large stones maybe won’t pass with this method so maybe every person attempting this should do an ultrasound to see the size of stones they have.
I am happy and hope everyone will be!

  162. Hi,
I did my cleanse last night , the last time I did one would have been 3 years ago where I did two. I don’t feel as wonderfully fresh after this one like I remember from the others.
Usually use grapefruit juice with olive oil which I found very yummy as it was pink grapefruit. This time used lemon juice, was way too sour!
But the Epsom salts I really struggle with its so horrible used to drink with straw and lemon juice. Now just scull it, and have my toothbrush with toothpaste there waiting to get the taste out of my mouth. Apart from not being able to eat from 1.30pm and the Epsom salts I don’t mind the rest of it.
I have had hay fever and asthma since I was 3 and now I’m 31 still trying to get rid of it!
But planning on starting a family soon and this was recommended to sort my hormones out.
    Will see!

    • Hi Natalie,
I also just did a liver flush, and didn’t get the same results as I did this time last year when I did the flush for the first time ever. I felt wonderful afterwards, euphoric almost! The ache that I was experiencing on the right side of my chest, front and back, disappeared completely. This year, the ache is still there, so I am going to do another one in two weeks time, and hopefully have more luck.

You may be interested to know that my husband went the coffee enema route for his hayfever, which he has suffered with for most of his adult life (he is 59 now) and his allergies have almost completely disappeared!! The difference is incredible – I hardly even hear him sneeze anymore! It is a bit more “messy” than the epsom salts method, but he swears by it now, and at least you wouldn’t have to drink the epsom salts.

      Yours in health…

  163. There is very similar cleansing, not eating animal product for a week and no oils 24h before cleansing.
The day of flush eat as many green organic apples until 2pm, and drink juice and water after 2pm.
At 6pm 1 tbs and 6oz fresh grapefruit juice drink it down.
At 8pm mix another 1tbs epsom salt with 6oz fresh grapefruit juice, drink it down.
At 10pm juice 6oz lemon juice plus 4oz unfiltered raw organic olive oil, honey can help to get it down.
Next lay on your right side and go to sleep, in the morning you will have large bowel movement or possible diarrhea but you should be able to see green and tan various sizes gall bolder stones.
This is the way i’ve done it and it worked.

  164. Hello, I did an ultrasound and they found a 3mm polyp in my gallbladder. I’m also 5 weeks pregnant. Doctor said it’s nothing to worry about and no special diet is needed. I asked 2 doctors how can I remove the polyp, and how do I prevent it from growing? All doctors say they are not aware of any surgery to remove polyps, only gallbladder, in case it grows more than 9mm. I don’t want it to get to that point, Doc said after the baby is born, come back and do another ultrasound to check on the polyp. God gave us the organs for a reason, don’t give me that BS that we can live perfectly well without a gallbladder…
I realized that doctors are clueless about natural medicine… We have to take charge of our health, because doctors certainly won’t. I’m worried than in 9 months the polyp could grow and I want to get rid of it ASAP! Is it safe to do this cleanse being pregnant, considering it’s all natural ingredients? Please help!

  165. Hi 🙂
Is there anyone that has made ultrasound check after this procedure?

Somebody that had ultrasound and confirmation that there are gallstones in the gallbladder before trying this.. And ultrasound afterwards, confirming that the gallstones are gone…

  166. Hello all

These are excellent and useful techniques indeed. We should try also eat our food as medicine and our medicine as food. Also intermittent fasting and fruit and veg 7 day detox fasting helps very much. Over and above, eating natural organic fruits, vegetables, nuts and grains will totally eradicate the need for us to undergo all these cleansing techniques and even surgery.

    Take good care and Godspeed

  167. I am trying this tonight, i have been doing apple juice for past 5 days. Also mostly during the days for weeks mostly fruit, veg, juice diet. I have also added chia and hemp seeds to my diet. Hopefully uncomfortableness will be minimal this evening and get good results in the morn. I do intent on doing colon flush/enemas pre and post. Will post my results.

    • Yes please post your results! I’ve just finished the first day – I am dreading the Epsom salts. Please give details on the final night, the stones and of course how you feel. Also, have you done home enemas? I have found oxy powder to be a great colon cleanser and not sure if I can do this rather than the enemas. Good luck!!

      • I have just finished the day of the flush. I found drinking through a straw for the Epson salts really helped. Put the straw as far back in the mouth as you can so the liquid does not come in contact with most of your taste buds. Do it in one if you can. Suck, swallow, suck, swallow until done. I did cheat a bit and sucked a tictac straight after. I did not want to vomit it all up.
I was expecting pain on the final night but had only a little discomfort. I am exhausted now though. Unfortunately I did not find any stones as such. I had little green bits but they were very soft so think it was just bile.
My scan showed I have stones and my Doctor wants to book me in to have my gall bladder out as my last attacked lasted days. Praying very hard that I do not need to. :-/

        • Gosh that sounds awful. Can you keep the operation on hold until you have done more flushes? Did you do an enema? I read The Andreas Moritz book on the flush and he is very against the removal of such a crucial organ. I pray that you are healed the natural way. X

        • Laura, well done for trying the cleanse in order to save your gall bladder… Please consider doing another cleanse in 2 weeks time, being sure to include fresh juiced apples and grapefruits as much as possible to help soften your stones in order for them to be expelled more easily from your system during the two week lead up to the cleanse. It is so so worth it in order to avoid surgery and losing such an important organ (don’t let anyone tell you that you do not even need your gall bladder!!!)

          Yours in good health,

      • You can buy it dry in apsule form. This is what I took. Ever so much easier. I believe I bought them from Clarkstore (drhuldaclark). Online. It has been years but I remember being so relieved.

  168. I want to do this cleanse to hopefully lower my liver levels. They have been elevated for a couple of years and I have tried everything to get them down, to no avail!! Has anyone done the cleanse and had their liver levels go back to normal range?

  169. Ok so I intended on doing this about 2 weeks ago but toddler threw off my schedule. So I did yesterday into today. I drank apple juice for the days prior and occasionally mixed in a bit of ACV. I ate a light breakfast and lunch no fats, dairy, proteins etc. no food after 2 pm. That part was hard since I usually am hungry mid to end of day and not so much in the morning, but I made it through day with just water after 2 pm. I followed the time schedule. The Epsom salt water was not as dreadful as I thought per others comments it does not have a pleasant taste and sorta lingers for a bit but not horrific. I drank my EVOO and lemon juice at 10 pm, now this tasted worse than the Epsom to me. I likened it to a very acidic salad dressing I was gulping down. I simply thought of some of the worst things I have tried (tequila, scotch, bourbon lol in my 20’s) and pushed through lol Laid down as it said right away right side knees pulled to chest. I did not move for about 30 mins. During that time I did feel a trail of something move in my right side. I fell asleep and did not have any bathroom issues overnight. Upon waking drank 3rd Epsom salt water and shortly after that I hit the bathroom several times. I passed so far it’s 10:10 am about 15-20 stones. I honestly do not feel bad and have not through any of this. I have not had any issues and again feel great =) I will do this again in 2 weeks and see those results then.

  170. What about those of us who have already had our gall bladder removed? Would this cleasr be of any benefit to us?

  171. What is you get up in the middle of the night to relieve (pee) yourself from all the liquids earlier? Should you still drink the next solution is its 2AM

  172. I just did this cleanse this weekend and here are some things I did that were helpful. The 5 days prior to the cleanse, I ate an apple with every meal and juiced at night a mixture of beets & its greens, cucumber, ginger, celery, lemon, and an apple. Since I am trying to heal my liver and cleanse my gall bladder, I drank dandelion tea once a day and took milk thistle with each meal. The best thing I did to prepare for the cleanse was put the epsom salts in some gelatin capsules. It took a while (about 16 capsules needed for each tablespoon). I placed each serving in a separate baggie, so they were ready to go at the appropriate time. This way, I didn’t have to try and down some nasty-tasting water if my stomach ended up feeling queasy. I followed the instructions exactly. The olive oil/grapefruit juice was not bad at all. Tasted like a light salad dressing. I slept pretty good all night until about 5 am. I woke up feeling very nauseated. I tossed and turned for about an hour, and ended up throwing up a bit of the olive oil mixture. After that I felt fine and was able to take the last two sets of epsom salts. Bathroom trips looked exactly like the pictures. I feel good the week following this procedure. I don’t have a full/swollen feeling in my liver, and everything appears to be operating appropriately. Use my recommendation for the epsom salts. It was worth the time!

  173. What if you are needing to do the gallbladder cleanse NOW. What if you are looking at possible gallbladder removal and need to do something fast to save it. Can you go ahead and do the liver/gallbladder flush without doing the colon, parasite and kidney cleanse that Hulda Clark recommends?
