Pork Chops and Apples

Healthy Pork Chops with Apple Pork Chops and Apples

This is an easy and fast recipe that kids actually like. I keep pork chops in the freezer for nights I know I will be in a rush. The apples add great flavor to the pork and the balsamic vinegar gives a bit of a sweet and tangy taste.

What You Need:

  • 4 (or more) Pork Chops (preferably from an organic source)
  • 2 (or more) apples, peeled and sliced into thin slices
  • 1/4 cup Balsamic Vinegar (optional but good)
  • Salt, pepper and rosemary to taste
  • 2 Tablespoons butter

What to Do:

  1. Preheat oven to 350.
  2. Melt butter in baking dish and place pork chops in.
  3. Season with salt, pepper, rosemary and any other desired spices and pour balsamic vinegar over all.
  4. Top with apples (I saute them in butter first to make sure the apples get soft)
  5. Bake in oven 20-30 minutes until an internal temp of at least 140.
  6. Alternatively, you could cook pork chops and apples together in large skillet. This only takes about 15 minutes.
  7. Serve with salad and oven baked zucchini.

Sounds tasty. I would unfortunately have to omit the vinegar because my kids really dislike it. Apples and pork are a great combination though. Thanks for participating in Gluten-Free Wednesdays.

My kids aren’t fans of vinegar either, but they don’t seem to mind the balsamic once it has been cooked. It gets a lot sweeter, so maybe that is why

Sounds yummy!! I’m going to try it tonight… just wondering if there is any nutritional difference if I bake it versus frying it. I’ve never cooked pork chops before… we just started eating meat after a 7 year hiatus… and we purchased a quarter of a pig… so I’ll have plenty need for new pork recipes!! Thank you so much!!

Frying is fine too, just avoid using vegetable based oils (canola, corn, soybean, vegetable, sunflower, etc) and use tallow, lard or coconut oil.. Congrats on eating meat again!

Do you think you could do this in a crock pot?

  • http://wellnessmama.com Wellness Mama

Definitely! Done it before, it is a couple hours on high or 3-4 on low usually.

Sounds delish! Can’t wait to try it tomorrow. I am trying to get my family to eat paleo, so I am hoping this is good enough for them. ;) It doesn’t come out too dry, right? If I omit the vineger will is be too dry?

This looks absolutely delicious and I can’t WAIT to try it! Do you suppose there is something else I can use in place of Balsamic vinegar and Rosemary?

  • http://wellnessmama.com Wellness Mama

You can just omit them or just thyme instead…

  • DeeTee

Sweet! Thank you very much. :)
