Types of coconut oils and their benefits
Wellness Mama » Blog » Reviews » Tropical Traditions Coconut Oil Review

I’ve talked before about how much we use coconut oil and shared my list of 101 uses. We use coconut oil in everything from deodorant to toothpaste to cooking. I even use it in my coffee

I often get asked and wanted to share my favorite brand of coconut oil: Tropical Traditions Gold Label. (check out the bottom of this post for a free coconut oil gift)

Tropical Traditions offers several different types of coconut oil. I like the taste of coconut so we use the gold label for everything, but their chart shows the difference in the various types:

Types of coconut oils and their benefits

Some of the reasons we’ve decided to use Tropical Traditions coconut oil:

  • All of their coconut oils are organic and non-GMO
  • All are made without the use of chemicals (unlike vegetable oils)
  • Coconut oils are not hydrogenated and don’t contain trans fats
  • Coconut oil contains high levels of Medium Chain Tryglicerides and Lauric Acid- good fats that support health
  • Gold Level is hand made and has high levels of antioxidants
  • All TT coconut oils are packaged in glass instead of plastic to preserve the quality of the coconut oil and keep any plastics from leaching in to the oils

We’ve completely removed any vegetable oils from our house and only use coconut oil. I love that my kids are getting beneficial fats in everything that I cook and it works great in homemade lotions and body products.

Their expeller pressed coconut oil doesn’t have the taste of coconut so it is a good option for those who don’t like the taste.

    Hi,
Is virgin coconut oil worth the cost when using it in baking? Do we lose the benefits of having the virgin coconut oil(such as the Gold Standard) when using it in high heat environments such as baking and frying?

    Hi Katy,

I was wondering why you no longer recommend the Tropical Traditions coconut oil brand? Is there any reason in particular? Please let me know if I shouldn’t buy their coconut oil. Also if there is other supplier’s I can buy from as well.

I use coconut oil and mix a few essential oils in to help my dog stop itching. Lemon, Lavender, and … what’s the other one? Oh! Peppermint. Those three are anti-fungal and anti-bacterial. I also added some Carrot Seed oil for its awesome skin-healing properties. Along with the amazing qualities that coconut oil brings as a base – anti-fungal, anti-bacterial, moisturizing, skin-nourishing – I’m confident she’s getting a safe and effective remedy for her skin allergies which always kick up in the summer. I recently re-discovered the great qualities of Grapefruit Seed Extract and mixed several drops of that into the jar also. A couple of drops of GSE in her water, and coconut oil in her food, and she’s getting all kinds of goodness in and out – and it really helps.

I just went to order the Tropical Traditions coconut oil but when I selected “referred by a friend” there was no where to enter in your code…. I tried entering it as a coupon code and as a gift certificate but it didn’t work. Just thought I would let you know.
