
I’ve been wanting to talk with Dr. Caroline Leaf for the longest time and today I finally get to share our conversation with you! Our focus is all about cleaning up our mental mess and how to help our kids do the same. Dr. Caroline has worked in this world for a long time. She’s a communication pathologist and audiologist and a clinical and cognitive neuroscientist. Her specialty is in psychoneurobiology and metacognitive neuropsychology.
This all translates to helping us develop frameworks that we can use with ourselves and our kids. These frameworks can then help us learn resilience and interpret tough experiences through a better lens. We also talk about why the mind and brain are two different things, and the brain isn’t really the one controlling our body. We also go into the huge issues with anxiety, depression, and mental health and how our modern systems often mishandle their treatment.
Plus we discuss what Dr. Caroline Leaf calls mind management and how we can help our children work through their emotions (not suppress them!). A big part of this is learning how to do it ourselves as parents and modeling behavior for them. There’s a lot of information packed in the episode, so let’s dive in!
