Pumpkin Spice Face Mask Recipe

Pumpkin Spice Exfoliating Face Mask Recipe

I recently saw an ad from a local spa about their “pumpkin spice spa experience for Fall” that included a pumpkin spice face mask treatment “with ingredients like pumpkin, honey, cinnamon and healing clays.”

I’m not one to spend $125 to have someone else paint pumpkin on my face, but thought this would be a fun recipe to recreate and do at home with my daughters. We’d made homemade facial masks and spa treatments before and this one seemed fun to try!

Pumpkin on your face?

The spa ad claimed that pumpkin is great for skin because it contains Vitamin C, Vitamin A and zinc and that its enzymes and antioxidants create an effect similar to an alpha-hydroxy treatment.

The clay is naturally soothing and helps exfoliate and remove dead skin cells. I used Bentonite clay.

Honey is soothing and nourishing to skin and makes a great gently facial cleanser on its own. Its addition to this mask helps soften and brighten skin.

Cinnamon is also very high in antioxidants and adds a wonderful scent and slight warming action to this mask. (NOTE: go easy on the cinnamon. A little goes a long way. Test on your arm first if you have sensitive skin or before using on children.)

  • 1 teaspoon pumpkin puree, fresh or canned (no added ingredients)
  • 1 teaspoon raw honey
  • 1/2 teaspoon bentonite clay
  • 1/4 teaspoon or less cinnamon powder (optional- do not use on sensitive skin)

What to do:

  1. Mix all ingredients in a small bowl.
  2. Apply to face in a gentle, circular motion.
  3. Leave on for 5 minutes and wash off with a warm, wet washcloth.

NOTE: This recipe can easily be doubled or tripled to make a larger batch, but a little bit goes a long way. This was enough for me and two of my daughters to use. I do not recommend making this and storing it.
