7 Apple Cider Vinegar Uses & Benefits

7 Healthy Ways to Use Apple Cider Vinegar

Apple Cider Vinegar (ACV) is a fermented product made from crushed and aged apples. The healthiest versions contain “the mother” which is a colony of beneficial bacteria with many health benefits.

ACV is naturally high in phosphorus, magnesium, potassium, calcium and others. It has been rumored to help with weight loss and digestive uses. It was even used in the time of Hippocrates, the father of medicine, as a remedy for many ailments.

If you are going to use ACV for a health remedy, look for organic, unpasteurized vinegars with “the Mother,” which are available at most grocery stores. Bragg’s is one popular brand (I get mine here).

Apple Cider Vinegar Uses & Benefits

There are many health related uses for apple cider vinegar. It has been used as a natural remedy for many things, and while science is yet to prove many of the health claims associated with ACV, it is generally considered harmless to try. If you suffer from any of the health concerns below, consider trying ACV as an inexpensive natural remedy. Of course, with any medical condition, consult your doctor before changing any part of your lifestyle.

1. Reduce Acid Reflux and Heartburn

ACV mimics the acidic environment of the stomach and helps food to break down. Many people report reduced symptoms of reflux or heartburn after using Apple Cider Vinegar, which is logical, since many times these conditions are caused by too little stomach acid, rather than too much. Whenever I’ve had heartburn or reflux, a teaspoon of apple cider vinegar in water takes care of it!

2. Fight Candida (yeast) in the Body

If you suffer from yeast overgrowth in the body, and many people do, ACV might help. Some research shows that the acid and enzymes in Apple Cider Vinegar help kill excess yeast in the body. For those with severe yeast problems, the symptoms may get worse initially when they begin taking ACV. This is caused by the die off of the yeast, called a Herxheimer reaction, when the body can’t remove the toxins from the yeast fast enough. It is actually a good sign, though an uncomfortable one. If you suspect you have yeast overgrowth, consider taking 1 tsp- 1 TBSP of ACV in water before each meal or twice a day, preferably on an empty stomach.

3. Relieve Sunburns and Bug Bites

I can vouch for this one personally! If you suffer from a sunburn or insect bite, Apple Cider Vinegar can help alleviate the pain. For sunburns, apply ACV and water (25/75 mix) with a cotton cloth or washcloth directly to the skin to cool and relieve pain. You can also soak in a bath of warm water with 1 cup ACV. For bug bites, apply a 50/50 mixture directly to the bite, or soak the area in vinegar water.

4. Lower Blood Pressure

Some studies suggest that the acetic acid in Apple Cider Vinegar may help power blood pressure. ACV may help increase production of the blood vessel relaxing compound nitric oxide. It may also help inhibit enzymes that cause blood vessels to constrict. One person I know who used this with success took 2-6 TBSP a day in water for several months.

5. Kill Foot or Skin Fungus

Just as ACV can help kill Candida in the body, it is often useful against yeast and fungus on the skin and nails. If you have foot or toe fungus, soak the feet in 1 cup of ACV in water or apply directly to the affected area. For skin fungus or yeast, apply a 25/75 mixture of ACV and water. It will burn but will help clear up even the worst cases of fungus. Especially in children or those with sensitive skin, it is best to dilute the ACV with water before applying to the skin.

6. Natural Skin Toner

When mixed with equal parts of water (and a few drops of essential oil for fragrance) ACV makes an excellent firming toner for the skin. It has also been shown to be effective against acne without drying the skin. To use as a toner, keep the mixture in the fridge, and apply with a cotton ball after showering. The vinegar smell disappears completely when dry. Some people do better with a 24% vinegar/75% water mixture.

7. Treat Dandruff

Apple Cider Vinegar can be very effective against dandruff. Mix with equal parts water and apply to scalp with spray bottle or cloth. Leave on for 1-2 hours with a shower cap and rinse. This can be done 1-2 times a week for best results.

Note: Apple Cider Vinegar should not be swallowed undiluted or applied to the skin undiluted, especially in children or those with sensitive skin. Be careful not to get ACV in the eyes. Plain white vinegar and other types of vinegar should not be used for these purposes.

  1. I’ve used ACV effectively to remove my children’s warts:)

      • Wish I’d known this years ago! I drink ACV daily and believe it contributes to my good health in many ways.

        • Definitely I enjoyed using Apple acv since last 3 months…

    • did you simply use a diluted amount on a cotton ball or how did you do this?

      • I did the same thing. I just put non-diluted apple cider vinegar on a piece of cotton from a cotton ball, placed it on the wart and wrapped it with a bandaid (this was so the bandaid pad didn’t get soaked with avc and really let loose the stink). I left mine over night and redid it the next day. Afterwards, I let it dry out and put what my herb store calls Burn Salve to heal the skin. Mine had been around for almost a year and was so stubborn that conventional methods wouldn’t work. I wasn’t about to go to the doctor and tell his the scrape it out.

I took drastic measures with my treatment. If this were to happen again, I’d would do the same thing but maybe once a day for 30 minutes to an hour.

    • I used coconut vinegar for a wart and it worked as well. 🙂

      • What is cocunut vinegar

    • We use this for warts also. Put it on a cotton ball and hold it in place with a bandaid. Leave it on all night and do it until the wart turns dark and goes away. You can leave it on during the day, and night, but it can be painful. It works really well, even for plantar warts.

    • Me too!

    • YES!! This does work!! I just soaked some in a cotton ball and ‘taped’ it to my wart with a band aide…I had a very large one and took around 2 weeks but it is now completely gone! And has never come back… That was a year or more ago 🙂

    • Pls how did u use it.

    • Any chance the molluscum kind

      • Hi! My 6 year old had molluscum warts all over her legs where her eczema was the chemist said nothing can be done due to her sever eczema but they were wrong! We got lemon myrtle oil mixed 5drops with 20mls of olive oil and put it EVERY Single bump with a Cotten tip every night cover with a dressing. Within a month they were ALL gone!!!! Her eczema did flar up BUT we controlled that after we cleared the molluscum warts. They look worse before they get better but please continue it does work!

  2. i had my first yeast infection last week. i recently have decided to buck most ‘traditional’ medicine, so after looking up some home remedies i actually used it as a diluted douche. (tmi?) and it was miraculous. i would really only mention something so personal, because it worked so well!

    • I’ve heard that too… glad to hear it actually works!

      • It works miraculously on yeast infections

        • How does it….I’m pregnant and it hasn’t helped me yet…should I apply it externally??

      • In reading some of the comments and replies, i assume Raw ACV is the one which offers the most benefits (vs pasteurized), is that correct? I am a breastfeeding mom with Thrush on my nipples and have been applying pasteurized ACV directly to my nipples (undiluted). I don’t even know if this is helpful. I am hesitant to drink Raw ACV (diluted in water) as any harmful organisms could transfer through my milk to my baby. Any suggestions? thank you!

        • It is totally safe to use durring pregnancy and breastfeeding. I am currently 24 weeks and have been so aiming since 17 to ward off cold and flu season. It says in the BRAGGS website that it is safe to consume while pregnant. Also, it is effective at killing ecoli.

    • i know it works i have diabetis and prone to vaginal yeast inf. i wash my self with it diluted in water and sometimes wipe it off with cotton ball with acv and water,i use braggs vinegar dont forget to shake the bottle the mother are the brown sediments at the bottom, i also scrub it on my scalp when it itches, and wipe parts of my body esp my foot have yeast infection takes out the brown spots and take the itch out i think it is tinea versicular

    • I’ve used Apple Cider vinegar in cranberry juice to get rid of bladder infections for the past several years. I add 3 TBSPs to a half cup of cranberry juice and drink it 3 times a day until the irritation and burning is gone. For me it usually only takes 1-3 days and it works like a charm.

It saves on the trip to the doctor’s office to get an antibiotic that usually causes a yeast infection. Then, I used to use an over the counter vaginal cream to get rid of the yeast infection.

      • May I ask where the location of your pain and burning was relating to your bladder? I have been back and forth to my doctor for 3 months trying to find out why I have pain under my rib cage. Ultra sound and xrays tests showed normal. But herbalist I had gone to as last resort was very sure its my gallbladder but my doctor disagree and would not prescribe me anything but pain killers. I did not take her advice. So i googled gallbladder infection and came across your post. I tried your acv with cranberry juice and it lessened my 3 months pain…so that is why I would like to know the location of your pain and burning when you had bladder issues. It will be a great help if you reply to me so I know if its definitely my bladder or something else. My doctor based everything on test results “normal”…so she pretty much gave up eventhough I still have the pai and discomfort. Please reply. Thank you. In the meantime I will continue your acv and cranberry drink.

        • You are describing the location of the gallbladder, not the bladder. I understand it is confusing with such similar names, but they are unrelated. Your bladder holds your urine. When there is an infection present, you will feel pain upon urinating. You may also experience urgency, increased frequency or feeling the need to urinate constantly, and hesitancy. Gallbladder symptoms are entirely different.

  3. Does the apple cider vinegar skin toner need to stay in the fridge to stay fresh?

  4. Is Apple Cider unique among vinegars in these ways?  Can another vinegar be substituted for ACV?
Also, how important is it for the mother to be present, or for the ACV to be unrefined/unfiltered?

    • Natural Apple Cider Vinegar with “the mother” still has living organisms and beneficial bacteria. It is also high in b-vitamins. Other vinegars don’t offer this advantage. From that stand point, it is very important for it to be unfiltered/refined and to have “the mother”
Most grocery stores should carry Bragg’s which is one good brand

      • Should I shake it up to mix all the sediment at the bottom of the bottle?

          • Hi Katie! I have done some reading on coconut vinegar. Some people are saying it is more beneficial than and can work in substitution of acv. Do you use it for anything? Or have an opinion on it?

            Carrie ann

      • is the unpasturized version safe to give to kids daily. I mix a tbsp in juice for my son. I have not been using the unpasturized. To get the maximum benefit, it looks like I should be.

Please advise if this form is safe for kids. He is 7.

      • What does “the mother” mean? I use Trader Joe’s organic pasteurized unfiltered ACV.

        • The mother is the stuff that makes the vinegar vinegar.

  5. I poured out a little today and noticed that there were little things moving in the vinegar :S they were tiny white organisms thinner than hair with a length of about 2mm. They moved with their flagella much like sperm. Is that the ‘mother’ or is it contaminated?

    • Doesn’t sound good. Hopefully someone will respond. I would simply purchase Bragg’s Apple Cider Vinegar rather than make it from scratch.

    • i think they are called vinegar eels. google it

  6. I noticed you mention not taking ACV undiluted.  Why is that?
I’ve been taking it for reflux and it seems like it’s making it worse – could this be why?

    • Undiluted is really concentrated on your throat tissue… diluted will still work without the pain!

      • I have had horrible acid reflux and I am trying apple cider vinegar today… will see if it helps. Thanks!!

        • any improvements?

      • Any suggestion on a dilution thay may work for my 16 month old son, he suffers from Acid Reflux and is currently on medication. I am looking for an alternative and have seen ACV come up a few times.

  7. We’ve had a bottle of it in the house and I usually use it in cooking, sometimes in drinking water. I’ve started drinking it more often and, I didn’t realize it until now, but my heart used to POUND pretty hard even when I was resting and it hasn’t been since I started using ACV daily.

    • This happens when I take it right before bed. I cannot sleep and my heart starts pounding. It’s weird, I know, same thing if I take a vitamin too late in the day. Take it earlier in the day.

  8. I used ACV for my skin fungus I contracted in a jacuzzi. I just dabbed a little on the area every morning and night with a cottonball, and it’s cured! It took three weeks of treatment though. I also bathed in it, about one cup in the tub. It really softened my skin, and calmed the itching. Before this I saw two different doctors, we tried a ton of different medications, nothing worked. My legs were covered in it, and it traveled up to my groin area, where it thrived with the warmer temperature. This went on for almost a year. So just use the Apple cider vinegar and skip the dr. Bills!

    • i have a question. when u put the apple cider vinegar on, do u let it sit for 10-15mins and then rince it off?

    • Did you also drink it? I have a fungal infection on my stomach and back and despite creams and shampoo it doesn’t seem to be getting any better – in fact it’s spreading. I’ve just ordered some ACV and was thinking of drinking it too but perhaps that’s overkill?

  9. I add ACV in the water for my dogs, goats, and chickens. It is an antibacterial and also keeps the algae and scale (we are on a well) from forming in their drinking bowls. My male goat is neutered and it keeps him from having urinary tract infections which “wethered” males are prone to. I’ve started using it as well…if it’s good for my animals, it must be good for me!

    • Brilliant!! How does it benefit dogs and chickens though? Maybe I didn’t read it thoroughly if you answered this.

      • ACV can help prevent mites, ticks and fleas when ingested by animals. I use it in my pets water dish and have not seen any fleas in a very long time.

        • i have a 20lb dog and would love to put some in her water…should it be diluted in certain amounts for her??

      • It helps fight off bacteria and parasites in chickens as well

    • It’s also a remedy for fleas and ticks.

  10. Does ACV work on fungus on the scalp? I am trying to find natural remedies before I have to resort to medicines for my son. Its definitely not ringworm (confirmed by the doctor) and we have been using T/gel Shampoo and Conditioner, as well as applying Tea Tree Oil every morning and every night. It is working b/c his hair is starting to grow back in in the spot, however now it is itching really bad, which it wasn’t before and someone recommended ACV for it.

    • I would recommend at least trying the ACV “dandruff” method she mentioned in the article.
I use it for my dandruff and itchy scalp and it works GREAT vs nothing else ever did. Although for me I just use it in the shower as a prerinse or final rinse.Once the hair dries the smell goes away.
Also it works great for really any kind of “itchy” irritation.
Either way, it can’t hurt to try.
It may sting just a bit (NOT BAD) for the first few seconds though so do be prepared for that but its well worth it! This should only happen if the scalp has any “open swore” areas though.
Let us know how it works!

    • You mentioned his hair is growing back…did it fall out in a circle? Could be Alopecia not a fungus. There are times when if that is the case, I get bad itching before a new patch falls out. ACV feels nice nice on the scalp but so far the medical world is still looking for a cure for Alopecia. All other helps here would be nice too = ) thanks!

    • We use baking soda (1 TBSP per cup of water) to wash our hair and use vinegar (1 TBSP per cup of water) to rinse our hair. Does not smell like vinegar. Really great.

      • I have just used the bi-carb with peppermint drops to shampoo my hair with, for the first time today. I also used the apple cider vinegar with chamomile drops, thought I didn’t need to re-read the instructions I printed off & therefore had forgotten that the apple cider vinegar needed to be diluted. It wasn’t until I was about to dry & style my hair that I looked at the instructions again. Will it do any damage to my hair to have not diluted it, I did rinse my hair very well, as I have always done with other conditioners. My hair certainly doesn’t stink of vinegar 🙂

        • I have poured straight ACV on my head from a gallon jug. It made my hair feel greasy and stringy all day until I used my shampoo bar to remove the build up. Now I use 0.5oz of AVC to 4oz of filtered water in a spray bottle as a detangler.

    • please get him off of t gel . t-gel is a petroleum product not good at all we found out the hard way please get your son off of this product.

  11. I’ve used it for maybe 3 years and stopped but I will need to use it again for a different purpose. this is a great REMEDY for Chronic Sinusitis. Sprays are harsh, horrible on my throat, I hate taking anthisemathatines or whatever… And the headaches oh! But 1 week after drinking 3 teaspoons of ACV (plastic spoon-hate the feeling of metal with vinegar) made me wonder why it took me so long to listen to my Mother! Lol

Now, I have horrible horrible horrible Acid Reflex from pregnancy. This stuff is natural, no drugs, no prescriptions, geez you can even put it on your salad and feel better! I use to scoff at my mom when she told me all it did but the truth is, Now I’ve even used it for insect bites… So yeah starting this night I’m going back to 3 teaspoons before each meal.

I know I read and tried to do it with hot water but to me it tastes really nasty anyways so…lol… I just take the band aid fast and I always complain the first 3 days about taste but then I bore the people around me saying how energetic and healthy I feel…

    REALLY this stuff works!

    • When taking it orally, are you diluting it with water? Try adding organic honey and 8 oz of water, oh and make sure it has “mother” in it. It makes a very delicious drink with a kick 🙂

  12. I love ACV for so so much, I even have an eczema recipe that works wonders!

    • What is the eczema recipe….please?

    • I would also love to have the recipe! =)

    • I would love to try the recipe if you’re willing to share.

    • I’d love to have the eczema recipe too. TIA

    • i have eczema so i wanted to know ur recipe for that???

    • Hi, I would like to know how to make the acv for the excema as my child has it very bad and time to time she cries because it itches and burns her so much. I’ve tried so many creams the doctor gives us and also I’ve tried doing the vinegar and salt bath as the doctor told me to try but don’t work so great. Any information would be so helpful. Thank you so much

    • ecxcema recipe please!!, i recently started taking ACV and so far very good results.

    • I would also love this recipe. I have children with horrible eczema but have managed until now… My one child has it so bad it’s unresponsive to dr treatments and thankfully I have found this website… But I’m overwhelmed with how much to change…our whole lives it seems so where to start? I’m looking to soothe my child’s pain and suffering. We started today and ordered some tallow cream and added flax seeds to dinner of sweet potatoes, carrots, celery, & cabbage and chicken made with sea salt and olive oil. Any other baby steps that are cheap and doable for this very overwhelmed momma would be appreciated.

        • For those suffering with eczema, I was told that eliminating gluten ftom your diet can help tremendously.

          • Eliminating dairy sometimes helps for eczema, also.

    • Hi. Would you mind sharing you eczema recipe with me. My daughter just started developing a mild case of it and I’d like to use a natural remedy rather than the cream prescribed by the doctor . Thank you kindly ?

      • I’d like the recipe for my grandson who has it severely. Thank you.

  13. ACV is amazing to treat conjunctivitis in animals. Dilute 1 part acv in 10 parts water and wipe around the infected eye. I was afraid it would sting so I tried it on myself first and it didnt sting at all. Then MOST IMPORTANT wet the back of the animals neck with undiluted ACV. I cant explain why tjis works but wetting the neck is the part that makes this treatment work. I have done each part seperately and the back of the neck will work without wiping the eyes but not vice versa. I have yet to try this on a human.

    • I did and it worked beautifully!

    • How do you know it’s conjunctivities vs another type of eye issue? I’m intrigued by this b/c our kitten and THEN our older cat have each had eye issues over the last year & have cost us a small fortune at the vet. THANKS!

  14. I use it in salad dressing with olive oil, stone ground mustard, honey, sea salt and pepper. I also take a diluted shot of it every morning with equal parts filtered water. It is a great rinse after “shampooing” with baking soda. Also great for a bath soak to alleviate sore muscles after a hard workout.

  15. YAY!! I love ACV for most every ailment 🙂

My kids hate vinegar and want nothing to do with it internally, but topically it’s ok. I even used it to remove moles (be careful, it also can burn the skin)

  16. To treat acid reflux, my husband and I drink two TBS of ACV in a cup of hot water with a TBS of honey every morning before breakfast. With the honey, it tastes great! Its become part of a new healthy routine.

    • I have pretty bad acid reflux and have been taking Omeprazole every day for it. I found out about the ACV, started taking it, I stopped taking my pill when I started with the vinegar but reflux is back and because of it I haven’t been to sleep well the past two nights.

Did you stop or continue taking your reflux medication while taking the vinegar? I need some help trying to figure out the best way to help me with this problem…it’s killing me!

Thank you for any advice! 🙂

      • Have you been checked for sleep apnea? I used to have reflux and then I was tested for sleep apnea. Bingo. Once I started using the CPAP machine, the reflux became extremely rare and only occurs when I’ve either eaten a lot of food before going to sleep or eaten very spicy food right before I sleep. (or the electricity is down and my cpap is not able to work).
        Just a suggestion.

  17. An interesting read! We’ve always used plain white vinegar on bug bites, when my husband is bitten (he cannot cope with bites at all); is there a reason white vinegar shouldn’t be used for this? We do also have apple cider vinegar in the house, but had never thought of trying it (it’s more expensive!).

I also didn’t know that it shouldn’t be used on the skin undiluted. The teeth I knew about, since it can effect the enamel. But why not the skin?

  18. I used ACV to cure pink eye.
I used filtered water that i sterilized by boiling. Once cool, I put just enough in the water to see a slight coloration. . Like about a tablespoon per two or three cups.
    Washed my eye with it.
Sting? A little, but I found that if it did not sting it was not strong enough. It should only last for about 15 seconds.
After that, my eye felt way better and the infection was gone in about 36 hours.
Use on the oherveye to keep infection from spreading.

  19. I’ve used it on cold sores (undiluted just dabbing it with a cotton ball several times a day) with great success. They dry and disappear without using any meds within 2-3 days for me.

  20. I have a great recipe for apple cider vinegar that even my picky little four-year-old will drink.

Add to one quart filtered water:
Approximately 1 to 2 tablespoons raw apple cider vinegar,
    1 teaspoon vanilla extract,
A dash or two of cinnamon,
Stevia, pure maple syrup, or raw honey (Or a mixture of all three) to taste.

If you get a good balance between all of the ingredients, It taste just like Apple cider. Refrigerate and enjoy! I refill a little glass juice bottle and keep it in the fridge for my four-year-old. She can drink at will… And does!

  21. I take a shot glass of ACV every morning (chased with water) for general health. I haven’t been sick in over two years (since I started taking ACV). I also use a 1:6 mixture of ACV to water as a toner/acne treatment (on a cotton ball morning and night). I got rid of a planter’s wart on the bottom of my foot with straight ACV (soaked the cotton part of a bandage and left on overnight, repeated for 5 nights). I use baking soda and ACV as my shampoo/conditioning routine for soft, shiny hair! Got rid of my partner’s athlete’s foot. I love my ACV!! 🙂

  22. We use baking soda (1 TBSP per cup of water) to wash our hair and use vinegar (1 TBSP per cup of water) to rinse our hair. Does not smell like vinegar. Really great.

    • Can you use apple cider vinegar rinses for children also?

  23. I use ACV for a lot of things. I add 1-2 tablespoons with a tbsp. of honey and 8 oz of water, and drink it before each meal. It is very delicious and has helped with weight loss, acne, heartburn and it gives me a little natural boost of energy. I also use it as deodorant, I dip a cotton ball in the ACV and wipe it under my arms and when it dries the awful smell goes away and I am fresh all day. I will try it on my son’s warts next. I have also heard that it works well if used during the rinse cycle of laundry for a fabric softner. I only use Braggs ACV.
I saw this: FROM WebMD: Long-term use of apple cider vinegar could cause low potassium levels and lower bone density. If you already have low potassium or osteoporosis, talk to your health care provider before using apple cider vinegar.

  24. Any time I bite my cheek/lip or feel a canker sore coming on, I dip a q-tip in ACV (undilited) and hold it on the sore for a couple minutes, up to 3 times a day. It’s worked 9 times out of 10 to get rid of the sore within a day!!!

  25. My son has acid reflux. He’ll be in 2 in March. Do you have any advice on how to give it to a toddler? Is there anything I can mix it with that won’t kill the ACV?

    • Look at my recipe a few comments up from yours. He might be asking for more….and more. 🙂

  26. Katie, I love all the great info you have! Sometimes it seems a little overwhelming with all there is to do in life. Short of coming to live with you or unless you are having a “boot camp” soon, could you give us a run down on a day in your life? What do you take, do and eat starting in the am. Not trying to get personal, just wondering how to put it all together as there is so much to remember. Have a great day!

  27. I use ACV for sore throats or if I’m getting strep throat. I gargle with a diluted solution (don’t measure but mix of water/acv) a couple times a day. Works like a charm.

  28. After weeks of Dr giving meds to my son to treat thrush, and a two week stint of using “gengin violet” swabed

    • In his mouth, I heard it was highly linked to cancers of the mouth. So I began diluting a little ACV in water and soaking a baby size face cloth in it and washing out his mouth daily. Cleared it right up!

  29. ACV isn’t the greatest tasting but it does work. My husband thinks im nuts for drinking it but it has worked for me its not so bad after awhile. When I feel a UTI coming on I drink a Tbsp of ACV in a glass of water and chugg-a-lug. If the uti gets bad then I put 1/8 tsp of baking soda in water & drink it. Both of these recipes also help with acid reflux. You can also put both ingredients in a bath for a detoxing relaxing bath. Wellness Mama has the bath detox on her site.

  30. Totally effective for Relieve Sunburns!!!
Thanks for this article. This is the first time I read yours. Just saw your profile. Went around the site. It’s very informative. As of today, I am a fan!

  31. you can also use ACV when making bone broth to pull the minerals from the bones. And you can use it when soaking grains to pull the physic acid out.

  32. phytic**

  33. Hi, i love all these natural remedies!! I just started using ACV with my my toddler for his sinus and respiratory issues and. In 3 days he seems much better. I have tried it for myself but it gives me severe heartburn and also makes my mouth burn and tongue swell like crazy even when diluted by 75%. Is this die off or a side effect that i should not continue using it? Thanks so much!

    • That could be a sign of an intolerance or allergy…. I wouldn’t use until you talk to a naturopathic doctor or someone who can help you know for sure

  34. I keep an applicator bottle (for hair dye) in my bathroom, so I have an easier way to get it on my scalp before showering. We give our animals probiotics & ACV four times a year, but now I wonder if we should increase that.
Thank you for the great article!

  35. I used to work in a book store and saved an old apple cider book written by a doc in the early 1900s – 1930s. He had done case studies on women who would regularly take it verses some who did not. Those that did take it, within a period of 6 mths, noticed weight loss. While those who did not take it, did not see any changes. In the book, it gives other remedies and such but no one had mentioned it in aiding with weight loss on here. So there you go! Ladies drink up, eat right, and take a nice walk today.

    • ‘Folk Medicine’ by Dr. Jarvis is an old book, full of information about uses for vinegar and/or vinegar and honey. A great book, if you can find it!

Sunburn is helped by ACV; so are other burns. I keep a quart of vinegar in the fridge, and apply it immediately to burns. We have seen some incredible ‘saves’ with burns that seemed like they would be very damaging.

  36. I put two teaspoons in an 8 oz. cup of water and drink it when I feel like I am coming down with a bladder infection. It really helps! And it also seems to help prevent bladder infections.

  37. I’ve used ACV successfully to prevent stomach bugs

  38. I use it on my horses feet for thrush. And then just spray it on as a maintence áfter it clears it up. If you have a real bad case of thrush you could use fungus cream mixed with neosporin to get it deep in the frog area and have it stay there.

    • The timing of your post was perfect. I was just trying to figure out a better remedy for thrush instead of using harsh chemicals. Thank you. I’m going to try this.

  39. I have adopted your suggestion of taking gelatin, and I use the Great Lakes brand in the orange container, but I found it unworkable to add it to coffee or water. What I do is mix in 1 T. daily with a small amount of room temperature water, then add 1 T. of honey, 1 T. of Bragg’s ACV, a shake of cinnamon. I fill the cup with boiling water and stir. It makes a pretty good apple cider drink and is a way to put several good things into my body.

    • I wouldn’t use boiling water. You will kill the good bacteria in your ACV. Moderately warm should do the trick!

    • The Green bottle of Great lakes gelatin will mix better with water or coffee.

  40. I use it in a spray bottle as conditioner for my hair.
I recent bought a big jug of store brand acv and when I read the label later, discovered it is Apple flavored and made from corn!!! Ewww!

  41. Just a bit of personal info regarding “the smell goes away after it dries”…..
Yes, it does. But I tend to perspire quite a bit, always have. I do notice a bit of a vinegar smell when I perspire. I use it as a hair conditioner, and rinse, I always wonder if others can smell it too. So just be aware that the smell usually goes away but if you perspire a lot, it may come back to a lesser degree if you sweat.

  42. I use ACV for gallbladder attacks. Half an ounce straight works almost instantly. I also use it for the acid reflux. I’ve been able to reverse the Symptoms of my gallstones, making them small enough to pass without having surgery.

  43. I use ACV daily. I sip it all day in my water container. Its a fantastic cheap way to get your mineral and vitamin fix and fabulous alkaliser! Great for your horses too! I syringe it 20/60 into their mouths. My dad drinks it watered down of course to rid the uric acid from his joints. On the earthclinic website you will find a myriad of uses and stories of people who have used it to treat and cure many ailments. Love this stuff. And wouldnt be without it. If you live in NZ Coral Tree Orchard provide a great organic ACV.

    • I don’t doubt that you and your family have had success with ACV. However, I’d like to point out that vinegar is an acid, not a base (alkaline). Therefore, it does not promote an alkaline environment in the body.

      • “Vinegar is naturally acidic so it helps restore balance to the skin’s pH which should be slightly acidic (here’s why). Though it helps restore the skin’s pH it has an alkalizing effect internally and can also help aid digestion for this reason.”

  44. I’ve started drinking 12 oz. of water with 1 tsp. of ACV in the morning before I eat or drink anything else. A little over a year ago I went to the hospital with severe stomach pains from probably acid reflux. Of course, they prescribed me Nexium (and I ended up going w/ Prilosec), but stopped taking it after about a month when my doctor told me that taking it for an extended period of time will prevent you from absorbing nutrients!!

  45. That’s a great post! We’re always telling clients and friends to buy it and try it but it’s hard to explain how to use it, so to have one place with all that info we can direct them to is perfect, thanks!

  46. Hi Katie,

Great article. I’m a big fan of apple cider vinegar and it’s many uses. I’m always prescribing it to patients.

  47. I took glass of purified water mixed with 2 tea spoons full of ACV It is now3days
but my teeth are still sensitive

  48. How much water to cider vinegar would you use fir the toe fungus? You just say to dilute. Wondering exactly how much. Thanks!

      • Loving this for the foot problems.. I have recently contracted this junk – probably because Hubby has it !!
How long is the treatment .. 1x daily for 1week , for 1 month ??
making him do it with me
        Thank you

  49. Hi! I use ACV for a number of things as well, one way I use it but have not seen suggested on this post or in the comments yet is use it to whiten your teeth! YoungandRaw.com says to : “Simply rub your teeth with a cotton swab that has been soaked in apple cider vinegar to reveal your sparkly whites!” You can do that or I just swish a little around in my mouth for about 20 seconds, and I find doing this a few times a week and brushing with activated charcoal once every few weeks has significantly whitened my teeth. Hope someone can add this to their routine who may not have known about it yet! 🙂

    • Seems like using ACV on your teeth would be really hard on your enamel. Do you rinse afterwards or?

  50. I’ve used ACV to completely remove a mole on my arm in less than 3 days! There is hardly a scar, it just dried up and fell off. Amazing.

  51. Any suggestions on how to take ACV if it upsets your stomach? I have taken it in capsules & in water, with the same stomach ache resulting.

    • I’d work up really slowly… that can be a sign of yeast problems or digestive issues though

      • I have digestive issues (due to nerve damage). I’ll stick with warm lemon water until the nerves regenerate.

  52. Hi katie
Im trying to use the ACV for a skin fungus, can i add tea tree oil and water to it? What measurements should i use?

    • Sorryy… Also what can i use for a blister on the skin ? Doing crossfit people often get what we call buttcherry and its of doing butterflies.. Any suggestions?

    • Sure. usually 1/2 and 1/2 with water and the tea tree might be more effective used after the ACV dries

      • Thank you !!!
Btw i loveeee you recipes 😀

  53. ACV is good for arthritis. It eases the pain by breaking down the crystals which form in the joints causing the pain. I’ve tried it and it does work . Taken daily mixed with water.

    • how much water? And how much ACV?

  54. I use acv once a day diluted in a little apple juice to treat my acid reflux. I drink it through a straw though to prevent the acid damaging my teeth. It’s also got rid of my tonsil stones and the disgusting taste in the throat and back of tongue associated with this problem. Very happy bunny!

  55. Hi, Ive been trying to find out if ACV kills also off beneficial yeasts from Kefir? Would you have any idea about this?
    Thank you.

  56. Not sure if someone already mentioned this, but one teaspoon of ACV in a cup of water is my go-to cure-all for all my stomach problems. It was especially great while I was pregnant for heartburn.

  57. Among other things I use it to condition my hair. I have fine thin hair that tends to break and get dry on the ends. New year’s day I resolved to stop using store bought shampoo and conditioner.

It seems counter intuitive, but it leaves my hair with a light apple scent, not the vinegar smell.

I have also used to cure ringworm, I drink it everyday (my cat likes it too, I catch her drinking it all the time as I keep it on my nightstand so I can drink it first thing), my husband get dandruff and t stops that.

  58. i recently switched to a natural shampoo and have started using diluted ACV for a conditioner (1:3 i believe) as well. I only have to shampoo every other day now and i could never ever do that before and condition 1 or 2x a week. My hair smells a bit like ACV when its wet but goes away when its dry. I love it and it works as a hair detangler too. I highly suggest it as a natural alternative to all those chemicals, and its so much more cost effective too!

  59. Drink ACV mixed with Raw Honey in warm water, is also very effective for dissolving Kidney Stones.

  60. another thing that ACV helps is gout
Last time I had a session, my foot was red and swollen almost to the ankle and I thought – why not, and took some ACV and water. Next morning the foot was normal. couldn’t believe it.
Wish I had known this when I had my other attacks – haven’t had an attack since and perhaps it is the ACV that I now take on a regular basis.

  61. Hi Wellness Mama!

I’ve read somewhere that you can treat a Pterygium in your eyes using ACV. Diluted and used with a little bit of raw honey. Supposedly reduces the growth down?

  62. I’m interested to know if anyone here has taken ACV and was able to successfully alleviate brain fog? I had a nervous breakdown six months ago and went to the doc who said I had anxiety.. Gave me meds that I refused to take.. I am 34 and never had anxiety issues before this time, in the past six months I have had anxiety issues, dizzy spells and brain fog.. I know anxiety can be caused from gut issues.. Just curious if ACV can be a cure for these issues..
    Thank You!!

    • I had that happen due to a terrible boss. I found the brain fog was a result of overwhelming stress – a shut down mechanism of sorts. What fixed me was leaving for one, but also I don’t think that it hurts to take ACV, along with other herbal remedies to create an internal balance. It all contributes to feeling calm and healthy again. I also find Relora and Theanine work wonders, as well as black strap molasses. The ultimate control over brain fog is exercise – annoyingly enough; however, it’s probably the best remedy out of anything I’ve listed above.

  63. My friend swears by ACV anytime they have a stomach bug. It helps the person who is sick, get better faster and prevents others from catching the bug. They sip on a few teaspoons in some water or apple juice.

  64. I don’t know if I’m doing more damage than good, but the only way I can drink this stuff is by putting it in Apple Cider. This way, it’s just a tangy apple cider drink. It seems to work but I read that sugar is a big no no when treating yeast infections which is when I drink it. I’m impressed that all of you can tolerate it with water..eee.

    • Ignore that last statement. I just realized that diluting it in a lot more water makes it very easy to drink – not a bad flavour at all :).

  65. I’ve used ACE to help with digestion, and it is amazing. I would mix it with peppermint tea to help with the taste and I’ve heard that peppermint can aid the stomach as well.

I lived on a boat for years and I would also use ACV as a shampoo. I liked it not only because of it being good for dandruff, but because it was natural and didn’t leave soap scum in the boat.

I’ve been trying to come up with a ACV/honey shampoo recipe, with maybe almond oil to reduce the hair drying out. Any ideas would be great!

I’m new to your site, but you are awesome 🙂

    • Read somewhere recently that aloe gel was a good neutral “shampoo”, I think it was mixed with coconut milk. Haven’t tried it myself, but why not try it out? I might try ACV with aloe gel….I used to use ACV as a conditioner.

  66. My husband has a huge lump on the side of his head. It looks like a goose egg bump. I asked him what it was and he said it was a calcium deposit!! I heard that drinking diluted acv with honey a few times in a day could help clear that up. Should i try to get him to take it? Will it work?

  67. Thanks everyone! I’m new here, my 3 year old daughter has itchy scalp, should I try ACV on her?

  68. Deodorant! Take a cotton pad, not ball and soak it in acv. Wipe under your armpits and you are good to go. It takes a minute to dry and the smell lasts for a second or two. You will notice the smell of your old deodorant coming through your skin the first few days. It’s nice to not have the aluminum plus other toxic ingredients in your body!

  69. Ive had this crazy rash/itch under my armpit for about a month, I just always thought that it was from shaving, and that that area stays moist and it can’t heal due to sweat. Well I went to a gynecologist today and she just so happen to see the rash and she sad that it was yeast. So I went and purchased ACV braggs brand, and applied without any diluting a cotton swab on the infected rash area, and as strange as this sounds the burning actually felt good and as if it was already doing its magic. I also took 1tsp and mixed it in with 12oz of water and drank that. Any advice on if I’m starting out with too much? Or should I pace myself? I just want this rash to be gone!

  70. I’ve used ACV for dandruff and terrible scalp itch. This treatment worked like magic from only 1 use. Great Natural Healer!!!!!

  71. Hiccups! ACV has been my go-to since I was a little girl & now my kids use it with success 😉

  72. Oky Doky, i love ACV and now i have an eye infection.

First it was a stye but i think its that chalazion…anyways all the things that the doctors prescribe seems to make it worse…

so i mixed ACV and water about 50-50…and sprayed it straight into MY EYE! OOOUUUCHHH!

hurts…..hurts something bad! but i can feel the infection get abit feisty and swelled up abit but i think its working! my eye feels better but still kinda stinging after 20 min….definatley a dumb move but stand by for the results…

    • did you get rid of your chalazion

  73. Hi, what are your thoughts on drinking ACV during pregnancy? some people say it’s ok while others say it’s not. I love ACV and it helps with my rosacea as well as gallstones, but now Im pregnant and not sure if it’s safe to use. Thanks!

  74. Just cured/stopped the spread of ringworm in my home with ACV and tea tree oil. Three of my kids got one spot from the neighborhood family and I treated with ACV for the first two days then tee tree oil, and last I’m still putting coconut oil on the healed spot. Very proud of this.

    • I’m breastfeeding and thought I had a yeast infection. After observing the rings I believe it to be ringworm. I’ve started acv internally and topically. Taking baths of acv, tea tree oil, lavendar and epsom salt. How long did it take to dissipate? Did you treat your home as well? One breast has several rings surrounding areola.

  75. Hi Katie,

Great article! I have always been a big fan of the possibilities of Apple Cider Vinegar. I highly recommend its use for people who like to keep things natural and chemical-free.

    Greetings, Blaz

  76. Just wanted to correct the first on the list.

Acid reflux is from too much acid being made in the stomach – so the acid is refluxed past the sphincter and causes an achy sensation or you can taste your stomach. Acid reflux meds are usually given at a hospital visit because stress gets the stomach to produce more acid. Over the counter meds usually are chalky and alkalinic which counter act the acid. Think tums or maalox. Acid reflux is exacerbated by drinking more acidic things. Such as coffee – and positioning of the body (laying down) – a lot of the problem is a weak sphincter. I’m not too sure how acv works with the stomach…. So I can’t comment on that – thinking about it – maybe it fights the culprit that makes the sphincter weak… H.pylori – which now a days they’re asking to get screened for this bug to help prevent some form of cancer. So maybe that’s the action of the acv?? Something worth looking into –

    • While you are correct that some acid reflux is caused by too much acid, more often than not it’s caused by a lack of stomach acid. The lack of stomach acid causes the undigested food to build up with gas. This gas pressure is felt in the abdomen and can be quite painful in itself. The excess gas comes out the anus or up the esophagus. When it comes up it brings with it undigested food and stomach acid. This causes burning in the esophagus and throat.

  77. Ok, I have two questions. First, isn’t raw honey an anti-bacterial. It’s why it’s not suggestion for Water Kefir. If “the mother” in raw ACV is a bacteria would raw honey kill it off? Second, can I use lemon juice to mask the taste of ACV or would it neutralize the benefits of ACV? I am currently taking it for my asthma and allergies.

  78. Does lemon juice cancel out the benefits of the ACV?

  79. I’m desperate…..Can I spray this on my carpet to rid ringworm spores left by infected pets?

    • I’m not sure about ACV but I use white vinegar in my rug cleaner (with water) to clean and deodorize my carpets. My dogs sometimes don’t let me know they need out and this takes care of all odors and spots.

  80. I took ACV with a pinch of baking soda to help with candida and rosacea. It worked amazingly! Now I am 16 weeks pregnant and I was told by my naturopath that ACV causes miscarriages! I haven’t drank it since I became pregnant but I am so desperate for relief. My whole body itches so bad it’s almost painful and my rosacea is out of control. I NEED to have my ACV but I am afraid it will cause a miscarriage.

Also, I read that when you are pregnant you cannot take anything that will cause any sort of fungal die-off. I’m pretty sure ACV causes candida die-off which is why I felt so much better drinking it.

Does anyone know anything about this? My MD knows nothing about ACV or candida and freely admits it.

    • I have rosacea also and it is a constant battle! Please tell me how you are using ACV and baking soda to help it. I started 2 weeks ago drinking 1 Tbsp of ACV and water 3x a day. This morning I started using it in a 1-3 ratio as a toner. Any tips for the rosacea would be greatly appreciated!!
      Thank you!

    • I hope you have found your answer much sooner than this! But I saw this comment by Alexis up farther on this post:

“It is totally safe to use durring pregnancy and breastfeeding. I am currently 24 weeks and have been so aiming since 17 to ward off cold and flu season. It says in the BRAGGS website that it is safe to consume while pregnant. Also, it is effective at killing ecoli.”

  81. I had my gallbladder outa few years ago but they leave the sphincter of oddi part of the gallbladder still in. I have something called biliary dyskinesia so that still goes into spasms (like IBS of the gallbladder). I drink a cup of warm water with a tablespoon or two of raw apple cider vinegar while soaking my feet in Epsom salt for the abdominal pain and bloating and it works great.

  82. I see many of you use baking soda for shampooing. How do you use it? I’d like to try.

  83. I am new to this so i just recently decided to use it on a terrible sore throat. Wasn’t sure if it might even be strep. I swallowd 1 tbsp of ACV in a small amount of water AND gargled at least 3 times in one day and by the next morning all pain and swelling was gone. Have felt fine more than a week later until this morning. Now the other side is swollen and hurting. I believe if I had continued in the same process for several days instead of only the one day this wouldn’t be the case. Will start it up again today.

  84. Deodorant…works so good I was amazed something so stinky would make you smell good lol but it does! I’ve been using natural deodorants for a couple of years thanks to Wellness Mama, but I would still get stinky because I couldn’t use baking soda in my recipes (it would make my skin raw), but the ACV was the missing ingredient for me. I just use a natural perfume oil over it after it dries to increase my good smell 🙂

  85. can apple cider vinegar be used internally while breastfeeding? and how much is to be taken? thank you

  86. I don’t know if this has been mentioned, but we’ve used it to help coughing. We soaked a rag in ACV and draped it over the side of our coughing son’s crib. It worked.great!

  87. Dear wellness mama,
I love your site and blog. This is my go to place for any problem I have. I use it almost every day. I have been no poo for about a month now and I was looking for a natural dandruff recipe. I tried this one with the ACV and I just got out of the shower. I will let you know the results. Thank you so much for keeping this site going. You have helped me so much with my own wellness journey.

  88. is ACV safe to use on a regular basis for treatment of acid reflux in children? My son’s doctors have mentioned putting him back on prevacid for treatment, but from research I know this is not a safe treatment for it. My son is g-tube fed so the ACV mixture would have to be administered through the g-tube, would that be fine?

  89. My husband has had bad seasonal allergies for years, with itching, sneezing, sinus issues, and monster headaches. This year upon returning from an overseas deployment in a dry, desert area, his allergies were horrendous. I started making a ginger tea with lemon juice and ACV added after brewing, and he’s had relief for weeks. Unbelievable!

  90. My mom recommended ACV as a general tonic. I normally do not like vinegar but she fixed it with honey, cinnamon, and lemon in warm water (I added a dash of cayenne). It tastes great! I have to always make extra because my children all love it and will ask to drink mine if I don’t. I’m not into miracle cures but I have used this drink to treat a really bad case of acid reflux and to relieve pain from ovarian cysts. Thanks for the article and also the great comments at the end of the article.

  91. Can raw organic acv be used in recipes that call for acv? I am making jalapeno jelly and the recipe calls for acv. would I use the same amount called for in the recipe?

  92. Can I also add helps with gall stones/attacks. I have a tspoon with water and accompany with meals. Also when I feel an attack coming in I have some. It has realky saved me. This and lemon water ever morning has sorted my tummy issues.

  93. Is there a recipe to make ACV? I’ve always just bought Braggs.

  94. I have used ACV for 9 mths. I first used it for chronic heart burn and on the recommendation of my mother-in-law. I use 1 TB of ACV, 1 TB of raw honey in a mug and pour hot water over it and stir. In the summer a make up a quart and refrigerate and drink iced. I have come to love the flavor and have not had heart burn since. I feel better and have lost 17 lbs since March.

  95. ACV is difficult to drink at first but you get use to it and crave it. My fav is coconut water with aloe a slpash of acv and a wedge of fresh lime. You can even put a splash of coconut milk on top as a floater. Just like a cocktail. When drinking dilluted in water I find having lots and lots of ice makes it easier to take.

  96. I suspect apple cider vinegar works by being a polar acid, and penetrating the stomach mucus. The stomach mucus is designed to insulate against the very strong ionic acid, HCl. There are many polar chemicals that pass through stomach mucus and do damage, such as alcohol and aspirin.

It’s possible that ACV penetrates the mucus and irritates the stomach, causing it to produce more mucus. This effect has been seen with chili, in rat studies.

The idea that ACV augments HCl is not very possible, since vinegar starts with a pH of 2.2, and users of ACV dilute this until it’s about 4 or 5. The denaturing of proteins happens at all sorts of pH values, depending on the specific protein. Proteins are like little robots, and each one is different.

The premise that indigestion is caused by lack of acid, never seems to be supported by STUDIES, showing that someone suffers from low acid, or that they get indigestion from it. Fair enough, if you are in a nursing home, with a B12 deficiency, then you have a lack of acid, and genuinely need to take betain HCl.

    • All I know is that I’ve been having daily heartburn, major farting, intense abdominal gas pressure which is incredibly painful in itself, and explosive belching. I took 1 Betaine HCL and it helped immediately! Since then I’ve eliminated as much gluten & lactose as possible from my diet. Even when I have no gluten or lactose I still get the above consequences. I now take 2 Betaine at each meal, although I can go up or down 1 depending on what I’ve eaten. I know Betaine HCL works.

  97. Hello,
I have read so many conflicting articles on the Internet with regards to apple cider vinegar and whether or not to take it during pregnancy. Would you be able to advice? From what I have read it has to be pasteurised but surely this would defeat the object without the mother?

    • Read the post by Alexis much further above. I believe she addressed this concern.

    • Hello–saw this in the comments up near the top–hope it helps! “It is totally safe to use durring pregnancy and breastfeeding. I am currently 24 weeks and have been so aiming since 17 to ward off cold and flu season. It says in the BRAGGS website that it is safe to consume while pregnant. Also, it is effective at killing ecoli.”

  98. A few days ago I started to take ACV…but with in 3dys of taking this…It seems that I’ve become acidic…is this normal reaction?

  99. Well I would like to say that I started taking the ACV tablets for about 2 months now and the infections I had in my gums is all but gone, I’ve had bad gum disease forever (Sjogrens syndrome) I had 8 teeth pulled and the rest cleaned after about 4 months the infections started to come back, so I decided to just have all my teeth pulled eventually when money allows, I cant afford to get them cleaned every three months cause I have to have my whole mouth numbed, its just frustrating, but since I’ve been taking these tablets its been wonderful to not feel this pain all the time I take 1 -3 a day 1 each time, I’m going to guess not everyone gets the benefits from the tablets but I definitely have…

  100. I just used it to cure my bladder infection! I was in so much pain. Within one hour of drinking it, the pain was gone. 2-3 times a day and hasn’t been back. I love this stuff now!

  101. Why does it need to stay in fridge for a toner and why cant u apply to skin directly

  102. Hi…I read somewhere that I could use ACV for skin problems. I was hesitant but wanted to try…the result was a MIRACLE. I had a skin infection on my knee that was over 20 yr old . I was a result from a fall from a bike and scraping my knee on the road. Over 20 years i tried many medicines ; it would go away and then return few weeks later. I put ACV over it in a cotton bandage and kept it overnight. I did it for about 10 days. Its been over a year now and the skin infection has not returned. I’m just writing here as a payback to some random article i read on the net that helped me.

  103. I’m on day five of going off 40mg of omeprazole and trying ACV. I started off trying to drink it before breakfast and thought day. The first day it did seem that the ACV was helping. Then it started to make the problem worse. Taking baking soda would help a bit, but now I feel that I just alternate between ACV and Baking Soda and when one doesn’t help I take the other.

Today I have reduced the ACV to just a cap full this morning and another with water at lunch. I had to take baking soda soon after because I felt even worse. I am really suffering and am not feeling the relief everyone else is. I have a hiatal hernia–not sure if this could be part of the problem…

All is read is success stories. Has anyone really struggled getting off their PPIs and getting on an ACV regimen? If so can you provide advise as well as how long it took to find relief.

    I want to believe 😉

  104. Put ACV undiluted on my cold sore, before it ‘opend’ just a dab, several times a day, it dried up an dissapeared, within a few days, never got big and nasty as it often does.

  105. I have been taking ACV about 2 teaspoons in a glass of water each day for about 1.5 years now. Honestly I love the taste and I love how it made me feel. When I got pregnancy I continued due to the evidence of lowering blood glucose. I have had gestational diabetes with my last 2 pregnancies. With the first I know I ate wrong in the first trimester (bagel and grapefruit juice every day for breakfast). With my 2nd I ate 3 eggs scrambled every day for breakfast, ate low carb, low sugar and ran (3 1/2 marathons, 1 15k, 1 10k and 1 5k, I ran up until the day before I was induced) and I STILL had gestational diabetes. With this pregnancy I could not eat eggs because I was still nursing a baby who is allergic and I could not run due to nausea, for some time I could not even walk as any exercise/activity made me nauseus. My 16 week glucose test came back at 61, so they had me repeat it, the second was 69. At 30 weeks it was 91. I was put on Prednisone 20mg daily at 32 weeks and at 35 weeks they had me check my sugar 4 times daily and it was in normal range every time even on the prednisone. I eat healthy, low sugar but not as low carb as with the last one and I exercise regularly but not running like I did with the last one. I have gained 2 lbs more with this one than the last one and the babies are about the same size. so I KNOW ACV works!

  106. A bit of a embarrassing subject but, my daughter suffers with Herpes in her sensitive area unfortunately, generational thing. Anyway, I read on the web that people had tried ACV directly on the herpes, either dabbing 3 times a day or leaving overnight. Well yesterday, my daughter who had a flare up, placed it on the Herpes overnight. When she woke up this morning it was almost gone and drastically better. So she hasnt needed the medication the doctor prescribed for her attacks of it.!

  107. I have a acid reflux question- I stopped drinking diet soda cold turkey. I drank a LOT of it each day. More than 80 oz. now I have heartburn all the time. Not so much burning but more of a bubble going up my esophagus over and over. I wonder if it has something to do with stopping the soda? Am I reducing the acid in my stomach from that and now that’s the problem? I have never experienced it before ever. Any thoughts?

  108. Did anyone cure nail fungus with ACV?
    Please share your story.

  109. I love ACV! I literally use it for everything- salad dressings, cooking, use it as a toner, cleaning, and I take a shot of it every morning. I used to suffer from chronic recurring yeast infections and since drinking it every day followed with a glass of water I have noticed it is gone.

  110. After being on Nexium for years I ended up with diverticulitis…. not a pleasant thing to have may I tell you…. I started on ACV after reading about it online, I’ve given up on the Nexium and feeling great…. it’s works great for heartburn and acid reflux….. there’s probably a natural remedy for all ailments out there….

  111. It is the ONLY treatment i know for verrucas. It is obviously our family weakness but whenever my children have one – or a cluster, I wash their feet, gently scrape the excess skin from around the verruca with a scalpel and then have them soak their feet in ACV for approx 40mins, until very wrinkly…every night. I have plastic food tubs that are large enough to put their feet flat in…with a lid, for when they are being stored, with their names on! Each tub takes a bottle of ACV with the mother and never goes off. This process takes about 2 weeks…and then even the most stubborn verrucas are gone! No need to bandage the feet with uncomfortable plasters, just dry them, pop a sock on and go. We enjoy a movie while the process is going on, easy.
