Giveaway from Mountain Rose Herbs!

how to make homemade lotion bars Giveaway from Mountain Rose Herbs!
My Lotion Bars are one of my most visited posts and one of my favorite recipes as well. They are easy to make, last a long time and are very moisturizing without being oily. They are safe on children and babies and can be used on eczema or dry skin.

I only use Lotion Bars or plain coconut oil on my skin anymore. There are also endless variations with different scents or herbs that can be added or they can be made into sunscreen bars or deodorant bars by adding just a couple ingredients.

Herbs and Spices Cabinet 224x300 Giveaway from Mountain Rose Herbs!Today, I’m excited to team up with Mountain Rose Herbs to give away the ingredients to make my lotion bars to one lucky winner! I love Mountain Rose Herbs and have a cabinet in my kitchen full of their various herbs, spices, oils and butters, and I’m happy to share them with you.

The Prize:

  • 32oz Coconut Oil (Virgin Unrefined)-  Cold Pressed/Unrefined. This is a truly spectacular oil with a deep and mildly intoxicating scent of pure coconut pulp and it’s one of the most revered oils for nutritional purposes. It’s 100% certified organic through OTCO.
  • 4oz Cocoa ButterAn aromatic solid butter pressed from the roasted seeds of the cacao tree (Theobroma cacao) and further processed to yield a warm color and delightful odor. Will soften at body temperature and adds a rich, creamy and thick consistency to lotions, soaps, creams and toiletry items to help reduce cutaneous dryness and for the improvement of skin elasticity. A soothing ingredient commonly found in most cosmetic preparations and now fair trade certified.
  • 1lb Beeswax PastillesThese pastilles have a deep golden color, rich aroma and the average dimension of each pastille is 3 mm.
  • 1/2oz Organic Lavender Essential Oil- Traditional Use: Lavender oil is known for its skin healing properties and its use as a sedative. The herb has been used for strewing, and the flowers are used as an aromatic. Properties: Analgesic, antibacterial, antidepressant, anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial, antirheumatic, antiseptic, antispasmodic, aromatic, carminative, cholagogue, deodorant, diuretic, emmenagogue, hypotensive, insecticide, nervine, sedative, stimulant, stomachic, vulnerary
Those ingredients will give you enough to make at least 12 lotion bars, which will last several months for a family of 4 if they are used every day. You can also get additional herbs or scents and make them for baby gifts or birthday gifts.

And the Winner is:

And the randomly selected winner from the 707(!!) entries is Loretta, who said:

“I’d love to try a lotion bar because they seem so convenient!”

Loretta, I’ve sent you an email with details on claiming your prize.  For those who didn’t win, be sure to check out the great sales going on right now at Mountain Rose Herbs, especially Raspberry Leaf! I’m hoping to offer many more giveaways like this soon, so come visit again icon smile Giveaway from Mountain Rose Herbs!

Currently, rosemary.   It helped increase circulation to a problematic post-surgery area when I added the essential oil to an externally applied castor oil compress and consumed its tincture.  I use it in shampoo for scalp stimulation and medicinal salves for its healing properties.

I already like both you and MRH on facebook.  Thank you!

My current herbal alley would have to be mother wort… Specifically mother wort tincture. She has so much to offer for women from cramps to hot flashes, as well as an amazing heart tonic, wonderful for people who are battling anxiety… She is truly a wonder herb! I am in love with her!

OMgoodness I hope I win. I have a MRH catalog and have been coveting many of the products they have. I have referred your website to about 5 of my friends. What is my favorite herb? That’s a hard one! Garlic would be my all time fave, it tastes great and has a plethora of health and TASTE bennies. I have been wanting to get all of the ingredients to make my own “Thieves” blend. I also grow 3 types of mints, a rosemary, basil, oregano, and a couple of aloes. When I return to my home next month I plan on planting Echinacea in my yard and alot of garlic! I love herbs and hope to get into growing and making my own herbal preparations. Food as medicine, what could be better? :0)

My favorite herb would have to be slippery elm bark, because when my little boy was only 1 he was very sick for more than a week, throwing up and getting very dehydrated.   I was told about  slippery elm and it stopped his vomiting and diarrhea and I believe saved us from a trip to the ER.   It calmed his tummy down and now I have it on hand all the time!

I can’t say for certain what my favorite is… I like everything I try it seems(0: I do have to say I made lotion bars, sunscreen bars and bug bars a couple weeks.ago.and it was so much fun! I’ve been reading more about horehound…that is going to be my next new herb to try b/c of the massive colds we just went though here (hello…summer?) and I’m looking forward to making our own throat drops, oh, and I’d like to get nettle, I’m doing herbmentor.com online “classes” and will be doing an infusion with it, oh, AND I saw something today about Lambsquarters, pigweed! I don’t even know where to begin with those! LOL!

I was wondering something, if you don’t use plastic for storage, what do you use for things like chips and cereals, things like that?

    Thanks!

  • http://wellnessmama.com Wellness Mama

We don’t actually eat chips or cereal, so I don’t really have to store them :-) but I can definitely see why plastic would be more convenient for those…

The scar is almost gone! My Belly Butter Scar Diminishing Cream is definitely my favorite!

My favorite herb is chamomile. I love the taste and smell, that it is calming and safe for kids, and recently (thank you Wellness Mama) that it nicely lightenes my daughter’s hair w/o bleach, but most of all I love it because it grows wild in my driveway, not minding the poor environment for growth, but putting out it’s sweet, white flowers year after year.

My favorite herb is chamomile. I love this herb for its versatility. Aside from making a great tea, I’ve used chamomile for everything from a hair rinse for blond hair to easing anxiety and menstrual cramps, from soothing skin irritations to easing ‘tummy’ aches. It also is antimicrobial – which inactivates bacterial toxins, so it’s a great ingredient to add to home remedies/products such as soap/kitchen cleaner.

It also encourages the entire respiratory tract to gently cleanse itself and helps promote respiratory tissue health. I cannot live without this product here in Oklahoma…allergy alley :(

I am already a subscriber of Wellness Mama and just subscribed to Mountain Rose Herbs. I am new to eating and living in the wellness lifestyle. My life has gradually been going this direction for a few years now, but with the diagnoses of high cholesterol and high tryglicerides for my husband it finally pushed me over the edge. The herb I am most interested in is the raspberry leaf. I have seen it all over your site and, though I am not a tea drinker, my husband is. I really like the medicinal values of it and may start drinking it myself.

I made your sunscreen bars and the family loved them.  I made some for my 2 yr. old grandson from Seattle and they worked wonderfully for him here in FL.  As pale as he was he got a bit tan and no burn.  Thank you and I also make the moisture bars.

With super dry skin, and kids that don’t like spray near their eyes, this looks like a great option to keeping the bugs away. As far as herbs, my fav is mint…any kind.
