Wellness Challenge Details

wellness plate better my plate recommendations Wellness Challenge Details

We are only three days away from the start of the Wellness Challenge 2011 (I’m thinking this should be an annual thing) so I figured it was time for some details!

I’m incredibly excited to be able to announce some upcoming additions the website that will help create a health community so we can all support each other. I’m putting the finishing touches on a forum that will allow you to find and post recipes, create a “Wellness Journal” to keep yourself accountable, ask me questions and more!

In addition, I’ve got over $2,000 worth of prizes lined up, including a grand prize package for the overall winner (details coming in the next couple of days on how to win!). I got to talk to some of the writers and bloggers who influenced my own health journey, and I can’t wait to share their information and products with you guys!

The details of the challenge will be posted tomorrow, but at the suggestion of you guys, it will be formatted to help make a complete transition to real food and natural living in 30-days (and win great prizes while doing it).

Statistically, having a community and being accountable makes any transition easier, so there will be a big focus on community during the next 30-days. To build your own personal community and help your friends and family get healthier with you, let them know that you are taking the challenge!

I hope exercise will be part of the challenge. I have made good progress in the food area and personal products. But getting myself moving more is challenging.

Is this open to Canadian’s who follow your blog too?

I’m excited!!!  Dh and I are about a week into a grain-free lifestyle, and I’m loving it.  It would be so awesome to have help and support, especially switching as a family, as my older children are struggling a bit with it.  I might add, I’m 33 weeks pregnant, so this is a huge change, but has been infinitely helpful to me already.

Definitely! Some of the prizes won’t be able to go to Canada, but
most will, and if you win one that can’t, I will send an alternate
    one that can.

Congrats on your pregnancy! What a great gift to give you baby a
solid nutritional foundation! I’ll definitely be posting a lot of resources, meal ideas, etc to make the transition easier, along with some ideas for kids and teens. I don’t know the ages of your older kids, but if they are old enough and willing, you could get them involved in meal planning/cooking, etc so they can understand and
have a vested interest in healthy living themselves. I’ll be
launching a forum feature in the next day or so, including a place for a Wellness Journal to track progress and ask questions. I’d love to have you guys keep a journal of how the family transitions, and they’d be more than welcome to keep track themselves if they wanted to. If they have any specific health goals in mind (improve in a sport, clear up skin, etc) they could track on here.
I know of one family where the older kids have decided to train for a 5K during the month to have a goal at the end.
    Welcome, and thanks for reading!

It will definitely be included, but varied depending on stress
levels, etc since over exercising can be just as harmful as not at all!

so I’ve been looking on your site and I don’t see all the details of the challenge? Will it be the largest % lost? lbs? what is the goal?  Do we have to follow your eating plan?  Excited but wanting to prepare :)

I would like to be in the challenge as well (I’m not a mom though ;) ) but I can’t see how I get access to the forum. I checked it first just after you uploaded the link and it worked fine! But now the link doesn’t seem to take me there on either my laptop or my ipad. I am technically challenged, though, so it’s probably me who just doesn’t get it!
I hope I’m able to participate since I’m Europe, though :)
