Wellness Challenge Coming Soon! Are YOU In?

wellness plate better my plate recommendations 300x273 Wellness Challenge Coming Soon! Are YOU In?I’ve been enjoying my babymoon and not posting regularly lately, and I’ve also gotten several emails about doing another Wellness challenge. A challenge seems like a great way for me to get in the habit of posting regularly again, and an excuse to give away some great products!

I’ve been working on getting together some great products as prizes during the challenge, but I’d love your feedback.

What would be helpful to you in a 30-Day Wellness challenge? What prizes would you most like to see? What competitions or information would be most motivating to you?

The challenge would likely start take place during the entire month of August with prizes given away almost daily and a BIG prize for the final winner. I’m also working on setting up a forum so that participants can track progress, ask questions and encourage each other.

What would you like in a challenge? Let me know below!

A meal planning contest would be neat–a winner each week perhaps?

I would love a forum, especially to swap recipes! Because for me, the biggest thing is the food. I’m Italian and I LOVE pasta…it’s so hard to give it up.

  • theresa

love the Wellness Plate. looks so good!!

That wellness plate looks awesome. Who made that for you? I want a version made for me :)

What prizes? What prizes are you able to offer?

i’d love to be in the challenge. i need something to get me motivated to eating healthier again

Ooh, maybe a challenge that includes going grain free!  Something that is hard without support.  Great prizes could be kefir grains or various starters or kits, or FCLO or some essential oils to use in cleaning/personal care recipes.

  • Abby

I’d love to see some essential oils as a give away.  They’re great, but so expensive!

I was part of a support group challenge once.  Not only was it fun, but I realized that competition is a big motivator for me.  Each week we were given a list of challenges – one for each day.  When we got back together, there might have been a few small prizes, but you received a ticket for each assignment completed to be entered into a  grand prize drawing at the end of the month or however long the challenge lasted.  The only daily challenge I can remember specifically was, try a new-to-you fruit (because I tried a star fruit), but in this forum it could be things like, share your favorite grain-free breakfast, try a new recipe, check your blood pressure, make a meal plan for the week, try a Wellness Mama recipe (and write a brief review?)….I’m new to your website and just learning the ropes so I’m sure I’m limited in scope here, but hopefully you get the idea.

Maybe the prize could be some personalized nutritional guidance from you? I don’t know if I can join in this time though. I’m on my way to visit my family in the states (I’m in New Zealand) and I am counting on finding myself in many positions where I can’t eat the way I choose. I’ll keep my fingers crossed that the challenge starts when I’m back, otherwise I will watch in and be inspired.

Chocolate!!???  See this is why I have my ‘baby bump, arhem’ still.

I second essential oils and kefir grains as prizes.  I’d love to try my hand at milk kefir, now that I’ve gotten the hang of water kefir.  A recipe contest is a good idea!

  • Thechuubbygrl

So it’s not just me then? lol

  • Thechubbygrl

Maybe some sort of cook book, that would be a good prize.  I also agree with the oils, always a good gift.  Um…. I suppose getting away from the healthy, natural side of things… what about DVD’s?

  • jules

I’d love to participate in a diet or fitness challenge.  I’m new to the site so i am still making my way with cooking grain and  sugar free for my family.  I have been eating like this for months and love it but getting my family on board has been difficult to say the least!  Thanks for all the helpful hints and recipes.  It’s making things more bearable around here! :-)

I’m in! Here are some ideas for prizes: grocery giveaways, tools for making things yourself (Essential oils, kefir kit, starter kits, containers, lunchboxes /bento kits that work well with healthier choices,  food processor, immersion blender)

Loved also the idea of personalized help. :)

  • Veronica

I would like coconut oil!  :)

  • Diana Joy

I’m in. I want to know what I can do while breastfeeding? Because I feel very limited. But I am so going for it!

  • Corrie

I would also love to be a part of this. I have been trying to go grain free for a while, but find it difficult without any support. This would be a wonderful opportunity for me. I also second the idea of giving away the items that you have mentioned in previous posts, especially the keifer starter that you use. I can’t seem to find it anywhere. Good luck and congrats on the new baby. She is beautiful!

  • Kristen

Im in..can’t wait! I need the support…I was grain/sugar free for 5 years until I got pregnant with my twins, now they are nearly TWO and Im still “off the wagon!” Would love coconut oil! Thanks for your blog!

  • Laura R

I am definitely game! I just found out I’m pregnant so I want to make sure I’m being extra healthy.

  • stephanie

I could use a great plan for health, healing, wellness, fitness with some accountability to make it stick :)   I am in.

  • Andihymas

I would love this!! I need something like this to throtle me into the right mindset as I’ve been 1/2 a-ing it for too long!

  • Susie

I’m a new reader and very interested in the Challenge. I’m a woman in her fifties, a former athlete, sidelined by an autoimmune arthritis that I am trying to manage with diet. I’ve already had two major surgeries on my spine and I’ve gained 50 pounds in the past three years. UGH! I would love to see a forum for daily support, a recipe exchange, prizes for photos of food, best “before and after”, random drawings. Prizes? Cultures, gadgets, consultation with you, foodstuffs, etc.

I truly believe that diet is key in managing my condition, and I am determined to regain my health! I need all the support I can get.

I am in love with your site!!!I refer back here several times a day to learn a little more.Knowledge is power!!Could you explain what the challenge is all about?I am new to it and would love to know how it works and all about it.I have systemic yeast and have been putting off doing my 10 day detox and then 4 weeks of diet and antifungals. Is this something I could start and incorporate? Herbs and tinctures (recipes with all the ingredients included to make your own). That would be a great prize!!I am so thankful for your site. You just don’t know how much!!!

  • Cindydanleo

I am in……This baby fat needs to GO.

  • Angela Rae

I’m a 35 year old woman wanting to have children in the future.  I happily came across your site a few months ago and love it!  I would be ecstatic about a wellness challenge.  I have been trying to get hold on my health for the past 10 years. Fluctuating weight the whole time.  I have learned many great things about “real” nutrition in the past couple years.  I would love a kick start to a new healthy body :)   Thanks.  A big tub of unrefined coconut oil is always nice, or maybe some non gmo seeds to plant some things.  Anything is good that’s good for you as far as I am concerned.

  • Lisamichael2004

I’m in and would love to know what the prizes will be?

  • Tammy

I would like to take the challenge

  • Zbean26

I really like this list.  Maybe it could be a list to pick from everyday instead of something specific.  I live way out in the country and can’t always get to a new fruit, etc. on a given day.  Then you could post which one you tried or accomplished.
The list could have exercise challenges like park at the far end of the parking lot, use the stairs instead of elevator, on and on and on.

  • Zbean26

For a prize, maybe a sampler of your favorite products so we can try them and love them too.  I am really in and ready, this would motivate me.

  • Glitterpixie

Count me in. I would love some nutritional changes in my life. 3 weeks and no grains and I hardly miss them. I am going to get Mark Sisson’s new book next month about 21 day body makeover or something not sure of the title right now. I dearly want to change my life am fighting a bad eating addiction going between not eating enough and eating too much. If anyone out there can help me let me know but this may be my first step. Still consuming dairy having a hard time giving it up but if someone told me it wasn’t good for me would definitely listen.

Would love some type of alternative to gatorade as I need the electrolytes. Also some alternative to shampoo that is gluten free and doesn’t cost me an arm and a leg.

  • Jules

I’m up for the challenge! Love the forum idea to share feedback, recipes, personal roadblocks along the way… as for prizes, what about a personally-signed copy of Katie’s “Paleo Pregnancy & Parenting” book :)  oh wait, she hasn’t authored one… YET! :) heehee

  • Zbean26

I did weight watchers years ago, and although many people don’t like it, I did lose weight but most importantly it helped me learn what size portions were good for me.

This is what I try to do now.  Eat as close to the earth as possible (least unprocessed) and take my time and enjoy every bite and listen to my body when it tells me it is full.  I try to stop before it is too full and actually now, really dislike the just slightly over full feeling.  Never eat anything standing up and really think about what you are eating (making a ritual of it and not something absent minded).

I am not really sure if kombucha has electrolytes but it is a very good for you, feeling good drink. I make it at home and have some everyday.  I am bottling some this morning as a matter of fact.
As with dairy, I truly believe that everyone has different needs and you have to find yours.  It may be that your body needs dairy, it may be that you have an allergy. I do some dairy but it is mostly raw.

  • Nicole

YAY! So glad you’re doing this :) I would love a cookbook or some coconut supplies. Can’t wait!

  • Allison

I would love a wellness challenge.   I’ve lost a lot of weight but for the past 6 months have been fighting up and down with the last 5+ pounds.   This might help me back to square one to get it off for good.   For prizes how about an individual consultation?   I’d love for someone to analyze what I eat/do for fitness and tell me why it is so hard for me to keep these last few pounds off.   Finding experts who don’t suggest I eat more grains and less protein/fat are few and far between!

  • Betsy

I am a bit late to see this, but I really enjoyed your last challenge and I would love to do another!!

  • http://wellnessmama.com Wellness Mama

Welcome! Looking forward to having you in the challenge. We will definitely address some of the emotional aspects of eating during the challenge. Also, I’m launching a forum today or tomorrow that will
let you submit questions and get help from other participants. I’d definitely encourage this if you are interested, as my readers are a goldmine or info! This is the electrolyte beverage I make http:// wellnessmama.com/2575/natural-sports-drink-alternatives-recipe/ but coconut water by itself is also amazing if you can afford it.
I will say that if you cut the processed foods and make sure you are getting enough fats and protein, the cravings that lead to overeating should disappear and you should feel satisfied more easily. If you
are still in the transition, I would say, don’t focus on cutting
dairy just yet, as there will be enough dietary changes, but focus more on high fat sources like cheese, cream cheese, natural sour cream, cottage cheese, etc and avoid milk and sweetened dairy.
Feel free to post any more questions on the forum when it launches!
